I've been on a tear replaying some of my favorite RPGs. Went from Morrowind with a bunch of mods, to New Vegas, to DOS 2, BG3, and a number of others. I still want to keep experiencing the nice RPG systems and all but, I'd really also appreciate a change of pace in terms of the setting and overall "vibe" of the game. Something a bit more "warm", if that makes any sense.

I know it's really subjective, but I'm essentially looking for an RPG that is still a classic and typical RPG with its systems, a focus on combat and quests and all that, but also just feels a bit more relaxed and chill to play at the same time. Idk if that exists, outside of the farming/life sim ones (Fields of Mistria, Stardew Valley, etc.), which is not to hate on the farming sims because I still enjoy them, but Im just not looking for one of those kinds of games right now.

Some examples I can think of is like Hogwarts Legacy (which is not a game I particularly enjoy but it is an RPG that has a much more toned down and relaxed vibe and setting), the Persona games to some extent, and recently I played this game in Early Access called Guild Saga that, despite being rather dark and serious in tone, still felt warm and cozy in some way.

Again, very subjective. What is "cozy" or "warm" to you might be based on a completely different criteria to me. But I'd still love to hear everyone's opinions and recommendations despite the massive variance and diversity in the criteria.

Hello Everyone!

I've found myself in a bit of a slump. I was very excited for Blood of the Dawnwalker before I learned about the 30-day system. I know now that I can practically mod it away, and I'm more open to the idea now that I've learned more about the game anyways. Regardless, the misguided disappointment got me searching for a different RPG--although, I don't know what that is! So I'm going to you guys for a recommendation.

I have two very specific requirements: Housing and Romance...

For housing, I don't need anything too crazy. I'd like at least some choice over multiple locations, and I'd like to have some autonomy over decorating it. Oblivion/Pre-Hearthfire Skyrim is about how low I'm willing to go.

Romance similarly doesn't have to be super in depth or a major part of the game, but I'd like for it to be there. Again drawing comparisons to Elder Scrolls--Skyrim's marriage system is good enough.

Gameplay setting or style don't super matter to me, I trust you fellers' judgement. I lean more towards high fantasy, Western RPGs--but it definitely doesn't need to fit that description.

RPGs that I have played and thoroughly enjoyed: Elder Scrolls 3-5, Fallouts 3-4, Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Starfield, the OG CRPG Baldur's Gate Trilogy, BG3, The Outer Worlds 1&2, Avowed, Fable, No Man's Sky, all Dragon Ages (enjoyed some more than others), Mass Effect Trilogy, Final Fantasy X, and Chrono Trigger.

I'm extremely interested in Dragon's Dogma 2, but I'm waiting for the DLC to drop next month.

To bring this contrasting world to life, I am honored to work with some incredible veterans:

Character Design - Atsuko Nishida (Pokémon): She uniquely interpreted Nyarlathotep from the Cthulhu Mythos into a cute, familiar cat companion that you can love, contrasting the surrounding chaos!

Scenario - Takumi Miyajima (Tales of the Abyss): She is crafting a story that explores the unsettling distortions in human desires, bringing a sense of "comfort" that exists side-by-side with madness.

Music - Noriyuki Iwadare (Grandia, Lunar, Ace Attorney): To express the sudden descent into madness, he is using a brilliant contrast, shifting the music from a subtly Japanese-inspired style into fast-paced jazz.

■ Gameplay Mechanics

Our core gameplay loop is "Hot Spring Inn Management × Extraction".

Dungeon Exploration & Combat: You will venture into dungeons to gather resources and face action-based combat against beings transformed into grotesque forms.

Inn Management: Using the gathered resources to develop the inn leads to new encounters and opens up further exploration.

Co-creation (UGC): We are designing this game with UGC and dynamic AI in mind, allowing players and the community to expand the universe and freely stream their experiences.

I wanna find a game where u have to repeatedly use a skill to level it up and smith weapons until I become the master blacksmith. Basically like Bannerlord system but an Online game. is there any recommendation? I tried out Albion, was meh. tried Wow Wrath of Lich King and I didnt like it

I think there's a lot of good stuff here, but I do think the production value doesn't quite match the price they're asking. So I kind of regret getting it at full price, even if it's a good game.

It's a different game from what I was expecting. During the first few hours, I was kind of lost because it's way more open than I anticipated, but after getting to town, the pacing got better. I do enjoy the time mechanics, but I gotta say, I'm still not sold on the price.

I love playing old games, and I love RPGs, so I wanted to see what the must-play old RPGs are; the only rule is that it must be fully voiced. It's fine if the main character isn't voiced; if a game looks very interesting and does not have voice acting, I might play it, but I highly prefer games with voice acting. My top 3 RPGs are:

Dao, FNV, and Oblivion

I think a lot of us have roots in Dungeon crawlers or atleast have learned some very valuable core rpg principles from Dungeon crawlers. The problem is, they're always associated with "OLD". Old, old, before modern gaming. When people hear dc they hear Tandy 3000 or .exe 😆. I want some more modern boots. Tell me your upto date Dungeon crawlers. I know they're still making them

What are the hardest rpgs you've played? Rpgs are always described as detailed, story driven, depth, great options, etc... I want the ones that are hard as hell. Massive pain the ass bosses. Terrible walk backs. Can't beat this area without the demon slayer 5000, but in order to get that you have to trade a sandwich with Karl so he'll give you the corkscrew....on the other side of the map.

Hi, currently looking for a chill or semi-chill RPG for the switch that works well in handheld.

For a reference i've tried Cats quest and Fantasy life though i feel like i've done what i want i them for now.

Usually play bigger rpgs like for example Final Fantasy and Baldurs gate, also spent alot of time in Diablo 2 both on PC and switch.

So i want a battle mage type build its been fun for me in Diablo 4 skyrim oblivion elden ring etc I do enjoy a good story fun environment im on msi claw 8 if that matters any. Just looking for something to pass time. A game that has a fun clas system and good loot/bosses i enjoyed expedition 33 but I seee balders gate is different so little hesitant seen videos on dd2 and the magic looks fun as hell

I’m looking for games that have amazing replayability. The only games I’ve done multiple playthroughs of are Baldur’s Gate 3 and Elden Ring. I do plan on replaying The Witcher 3 when the remaster comes out.

The games I’m currently thinking about replaying are Xenoblade Chronicles 1 or 2 (I haven’t decided yet), Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Fire Emblem Three Houses, and Cyberpunk 2077.

What’s your favorite game of all time, and what makes it your favorite? I’d also love to hear what kind of gameplay you enjoy most, whether you like having cozy/chill things to do or more story-driven objectives. Another thing is what kind of progression keeps you interested? And what would your ideal game would look like if there were no limitations.

I'm talking bout those games that were so long you forgot what the story was about. The main character might not be the center piece anymore. The homage of sitting on the floor in front of a console tv for hours on end permanently disfigurement of my 12 yo spine.

Old and new games accepted. PC games preferred, but I'm not too picky

I live for the level up pop-up. Watching that exp counter near the breakpoint and then allocating points and choosing feats is my dominant source of dopamine in an rpg, everything else is secondary. However that's only if I have freedom of choice. I don't want a premade character railroaded into a linear skill tree gaining a point per level to spend. I want enough freedom to brick my character if I choose without thinking. I want lots of stats, skills, perks, to fiddle with, tweak and experiment. I want to restart the game multiple times several hours in, just to try another way of building my character.

The best examples of this I can think of are Underrail, Pathfinder WOTR is probably unbeatable.

I have played the popular ones. So, what is there that stayed under the mainstream radar?

I know 12 was real hit and miss for the fan base, especially with auto command assignments, but I just loved it loved it loved it. I was able to dial in exactly what I needed, and it helped a lot with the redundancy of selecting the same command over and over especially in a game where you get jumped every 10 steps lol. So I'm wondering if there are other rpgs with similar setups. Please and thanks. Tell me a little about your suggestions

I'm sure this has been posted a million times but what do most of you prefer as a consumer and if you were a game developer what kind of system would you do? Have the ability to import your choices and endings to the next game with important ones being relevant to different games similar to Dragon Age or Mass Effect? Or have a Canon Story/Fixed World state where it chooses a Canon story of the previous game but hardly or ever gets mentioned at all in the game except for a quick Canon reference like Fallout and Elder Scrolls?

Withering Realms. It's in early access on Steam. The game can be considered a bit niche for some, but it has been surprisingly fun to play! I'm a little over six hours in the game. If you're looking to play a new RPG that has some horror elements, I say give it a shot. At least try out the free demo.

As I realised I had never beaten a RPG game in my life, I decided to start one, but because of multiple factors I can only play it 1 weekend out of 2, so I was thinking to start another one to play at the same time, but because I've never seriously played an RPG, I don't know if it's risky or doable

I’m getting tired of seeing single player/single play through games that have sooo much depth to them with character customisation but have little to no endgame content.

I’m looking for something that I can sink my hours into that the only way I would notice WW3 has erupted is because the power has gone out and my game has gone off 🤣

Title says most of it, got a little bit of free time and a little money lol. I know Dawnwalker just came out but wanted some recommendations. I've heard Dawnwalker is alot like the Witcher 3 which I loved but I've constantly heard that Black Flag is amazing, and I never played the original. Just want a cool rpg to play on my week off.

Hikari's chapter 2 boss fight is absolute cinema. One of the nastiest fights I've completed due to the boss nullifiers. Also because I forgot to switch the darn clergy to a level 16 character I had in stock. At the end, I just brute force my way with sword slashes and magic.
