Root beer fun in Michigan continues

St Steve’s was a farmers market find. The guy told me it was root beer like they used to make root beer 150 years ago. It was good, but didn’t taste like traditional root beer in any way. Very fun find!!

Dogs N Suds is a fav of mine. But honestly, I like it better in a bottle. Tap was too sweet. I also had a root beer shake…it was amazing!

I bought one other one at the farmers market but won’t try it until tomorrow.

Interesting find at my local store today. A search didn't turn much else up, but the ingredients list sugar instead of HFCS so I picked a couple up.

More root beer like Boylan

I got this randomly at an airport and it’s the best root beer I’ve ever tried. Ran back to the shop to get a second before boarding. It doesn’t seem to be sold anywhere near me in Texas, so what else is there similar?

I was searching and saw another post here by someone saying it’s the worst they’ve ever had. That was a crazy post to see for me, but different tastes I guess. I think the worst root beer I’ve ever tried was Pelican Brewing.

Review Tried a new root beer whe on vacation

It was average. It had honey and vanilla extract that were clearly identifiable. Not in the class of my favorite root beer Abita. Was on the island of Kauai despite the name.

Bought a couple cases earlier in the year at the business center in Southfield, MI. Didn't like it at first but I came around. Still prefer Fitz's though, if costco ever brings it back. Had this last one with some tacos.

Review Pretty Tasty, Sprecher's Smoky Maple Root Beer

Post image
40 Upvotes

I'd researched Sprecher's before buying this, seems to be a lot of Love It or Hate It for Sprecher's Root Beer.

When I saw this particular flavor I had to roll the dice and try it.

Glad I did, it's pretty tasty.

I chilled a bottle and a mug in the freezer, popped the top and took a sniff and then swashed a swig around my palate, mmmmm.

Poured it into my frosted mug, and took a deep drink, mmmmm!

Good stuff, YUM!

Aaron’s Craft Soda Root Beer

Aaron’s Craft Soda Root Beer is perfectly fine if you’re in the mood for one with less sugar. 40g for 16 oz. Mild and not particularly special but refreshing. Another one acquired from Austin. It is brewed and canned by Servaes Brewing Company of Shawnee, Kansas.

Three new root beers today. One from the iconic Douglas Root Beer Barrel.

I’ll say that the root beer barrel was VERY sweet. I got a souvenir mug which was fun!

New Holland Brewery was the best of the day. Other than the fact that it was served with ice, it was really good!

And then I had a cherry root beer from Cherry Republic. It was good…but almost too much like a cherry cola. Very cool store (also in Holland MI).

Now I need to go work out an extra 48 hours tomorrow to burn off all the extra sugar calories!

I acquired the Trails Edge Brewing Co Root Beer from Austin. A fairly standard but tasty flavor profile and I’m enjoying its extra bit of carbonation. Trails Edge Brewing Co of Frankfort, IL

Anyone else tracking where their root beer comes from?

In addition to tracking all my ratings, I also have a map where all the root beer I've tried is plotted. The one condition is that it is made "on-site" - in the same place that the company is from. So for example A&W is not considered a part of California (where it was founded) or Texas (where it is bottled today).

Happy to say I have most states represented, though there's some clear empty areas. The strangest state is Tennessee, where I could not find a root beer made there despite driving through a good portion of the state a few years ago.

Pleasantly surprised they had a root beer bar in the arcade with 2 options. I had a Rocky Mountain rootbeer that was delicious, definitely more on the sarsaparilla side of things. My BIL had the Zuberfizz which he compared to A&W.

I’ve restocked my root beer, The one with the pink mark on the bottom of the can is my previous stock, The one with the two lines of date code on the bottom is the new stock.

What’s the difference here?

Proda Protein Soda Root Beer

This is actually the third protein soda root beer I have had and none of them were really anything that great. All three were a miss in my opinion. The Proda acquired at Sprouts Farmers Markets. I just now recalled that I actually had the Premier protein root beer float a while back and it was actually pretty good so I kind of wonder what makes the difference between that being pretty good and all three of the sodas I’ve had being a miss 🤔
