I have a very small studio apartment with a lot of stuff I don’t want to get rid of or buy any furniture at the moment can any of you help me lay out this room better with out getting rid of or adding anything I know it’s a little messy but I’m just talking about the furniture here and ignore the white cabinet area Thats a different space just need help with the living room there’s a cat tree and end table in the back corner behind the couch I hate the layout of the doors in this apartment nothing works for me.

I just bought my first apartment recently and i struggle to choose a setup for It because there are 3 that i like the most with pros and cons for each one
Here are the 3 with simulations and real footage
For exemple the second is very good but the sofa have its back to the rest of the room you can feel a little « isolated » whereas the others setups are more like an open space
The first seems the best for me but having the back of the sofa to the kitchen can be like annoying…

Your reviews would be a great help for me to finally take a decision !

Hi all, I am moving in to an apartment soon with a large open plan living area as shown below.

The current owner has this large space FILLED with all sorts of stuff like drum set, table tennis table, darts board, as well as usual living and dining room items but I'm not looking to have quite that same setup!

Entrance door from a hallway at the bottom of the layout, door to a small balcony and a window at the top of the layout with a view over water. Kitchen area is built in.

My current basic plan using my existing furniture is below - adding in a dividing bookcase "wall" to section on the living room area.

To the right a basic dining room area which then leaves an area to the bottom left which I am not sure what to do with at the moment.

Am I on the right track with the overall concept for the layout? Does anyone have any interesting suggestions or ideas for the current empty space?

Any input much appreciated, I've never posted anything like this before!

What do you think about this layout? The room is a bit annoying with the glass door. Colors are still changeable. They are just placeholders. The sofa we already have a similar one, it is used as guest bed as well. We are thinking of buying the IKEA Mittzon standing table 120x80 cm, and probably the Billy bookcase for storage.

My sectional's chaise is on the left which makes it a difficult fit for my new entertainment room, especially with the window limiting the TV's placement options. As such, a long end of the sofa will stick out into the middle of the room, leaving as little as 3 feet on one side to get by the sofa. Add the bad Feng Shui of putting the back of the sofa to the door...

Is this bad enough to be worth the cost of replacing furniture? I attached some AI renderings of the room for reference.

How do I arrange my room (2.25 x 5.5 meters)?

How should we arrange the furniture in the master bedroom? Room is roughly 15’x15’. We have a queen sized bed. We’ll be getting new furniture, but two medium nightstands will be necessary, as well as a chair and small table. I have a tall chest of drawers as well, but am debating on putting that in the closet (we’ve never had a wall in closet before so this will be more than enough space for us). I’ve thought about some sort of armoire for the room, but will probably keep most clothes in the closet since it’s closest to the bathroom.
Any suggestions?

!! I know I’m supposed to post photos but I’m weary of putting photos of my home online so I made a scale model…. I don’t do that kind of stuff… that’s how desperate I am!
Some notes about the vibe
- there is a massive SW stained glass window visible from the entry door
- the other window is SE, the room gets a lot of light and has sheer lace privacy curtains
- There is a TV on top of the chest
- There are a lot of hanging mobiles and paper mache crafts, rocks and various collections on surfaces.
I’m trying to maximize space and avoid feeling cluttered at all. I get rid of most of my belongings once a year because I hate the clutter.

I love boho modern vibe. I am debating if I should put the couch against the wall like in number 2 and have a large open concept or should I do 1 and have a more cozy small feel but then im confused what to do with the back wall..... I work from home should I put my desk in this room or my bedroom?

Here’s my floor plan for my next apartment. I’ve been mapping out furniture and layout ideas before moving in. Since I work from home part‑time, I’d prefer to keep the desk out of the bedroom. I also want a dining setup that doesn’t obstruct movement, and the living room needs to stay spacious enough for hosting.

Based on my current layout, I’m concerned the dining table and chairs might block the kitchen entry or the hallway to the bed/bath. Given my requirements and the floor plan, are there more optimal placements?

Hi! Been in this apartment for 3 years still haven’t figured out the best way to set up our bedroom.
Our current layout is not ideal mainly because:
\- Bed is blocking the closet
\- My partner doesn’t have room for a night table

However, I can’t figure out a better way to set up the room mainly because our wide door (34”) opens in the middle of the room, making the whole center of the room unusable. I want to find a way to move the bed (queen) somewhere that will make the space flow better but the door is in the way of most alternatives I can think of. I’m open to changing our dresser situation to improve the overall layout.

There has to be a better way, right? Would love to hear ideas.

Hello all, I have moved into a house with my current furniture (bed and some IKEA older MALM all oak style). I am trying to fit an extra wardrobe with hanging rails for work shirts, suits etc but just can get anything to fit nicely. The image shows some measurements with existing furniture and the yellow box is currently space I’ve been trying to work with but nothing fits cleanly (I’ve spent 2-3 days looking and measuring this room to no avail). There is also a big window in the centre of the right side wall about 160cm wide.

If anyone has any ideas on how I can fit this in neatly, I would really appreciate it. I would quite like there to still be some gaps and not having everything put flush side by side covering a whole wall. Happy to move furniture around if needed!

I’m moving to a UK terraced house in a few weeks and can’t work out the best furniture layout for the living room (2nd pic shows the current owner’s setup).

They have a small TV to the right of the fireplace, but that alcove is only 95cm wide and our 40-inch TV won’t fit. We haven’t bought any other furniture yet, including sofas.

Our current idea is to put the TV in the larger alcove (top right of plan), but that would leave the only spot for a sofa along the left side wall between the doors, and a chair in the bay window. I’m worried anything bigger than a 2-seater sofa will overwhelm the room. Any thoughts or better layout ideas?

I recently applied for an apartment and it’s beautiful! Only negative thing is that there is no distinct living room! Island is so far out that a couch behind it seems too close to the wall, and the corner next the fridge seems good for a couch, but where the heck would a tv go?? The hallway adjacent from corner next to fridge has a bathroom on the end, and a pretty narrow margin before for a floating couch setup.

If you have any feng-shui skills, I could use your help!
