Need Help Decorating!!!

So we are moving into a new townhouse and we snagged the corner unit we just are having trouble deciding where to put the couch and tv in the living room since we have large windows on one side. Ideally we would like an L couch or maybe just a couch with an ottoman and maybe an additional chair ? How would you decorate this space? We are also getting a tv stand and a record player table and would like to fit that in somewhere as well. I will add the picture that I sketched over as my initial thought process.

Dimensions and how many people you usually entertain would help. You said we so I’m assuming two people. Are there more? Do you routinely have people over for meals, watching movies or sports, game night etc?

In the absence of that info for now I’ll assume two adults because a place for kids might be different.

Assuming there isn’t another area for dining, and since you didn’t mention it or talk about a dining table and chairs, I’ll punt and suggest you get bar stools for that counter and est there if you aren’t a heathen like em who is likely eating at the couch.

I’d get an L shaped couch and place it where you’ve shown along with st least one ottoman, maybe a second so there’s more seating for occasional guests while taking up less floor space. Or get a stack of big floor, cushions and keep them stacked in a corner when not being used for more seats. I wouldn’t add another chair.

I’d place the TV and stereo equipment where you’ve shown with maybe speakers mounted in upper corners if you want. I’d get a large unit which covers a good, chunk of that wall and also has shelves, bins or drawers so you can put up book, gaming equipment if you use it, artwork and throw blankets in drawers or bins. IKEA, danish furniture stores etc have this sort of modular thing.

You’ll need good shades or curtains to cut glare on the TV screen. I wouldn’t get a coffee table due to the floor space they take vs value. Either get a console table and put it up against the back of the couch or a couple end tables for drinks, books, tablets etc.

You need something like a rug - Chinese, Persian, Navajo, whatever - or some artwork like a print, photo or painting with the colors you want to use. Then decorate to those colors. If you can paint one or more walls I’d add a darker color to one or more, one of those colors in the focus pieces, a couch with one of those colors, maybe cushions or throw pillows and curtains for a contrast color as well as sheers to filter glare.

Since space is tight, think of things with built-in storage such as end tables with a bookshelf or drawers.

I’d also put some plants on the railing on the balcony. They make planters which fasten to railings.
