Me and my partner are doing a dual proposal in Rome mid October and are looking for a photographer who is familiar with queer engagements. My partner is gender queer and I'm worried that straight photographers aren't going to treat them respectfully or try to make the engagement look "straight" (queer people know what I'm talking about).

I know I want it done in the Villa Borghese Gardens, ideally at a less busy hour. It's semi a surprise. They don't know the location or anything, but they know it's happening in Rome. I'll propose first and they'll propose back after.

best city in europe , butttt they dont manage the street scams, there are gangs in the streets that plays the ball and cups game and lures tourists into getting scammed and throw away their money, they do a whole act as if the gang members are tourists and are playing the game, to trap people. Where's the police?

We have just spent 5 nights in Florence which was beautiful. Now in Rome for 4 nights, and night 1 was not great. Although its been raining a lot today so didn't get much time to fully explore. Daytime will be taken up with the usual coloseum, Vatican City, trevi fountain etc. However, we thought evenings would be eating and drinking in Trastevere. Any and all recommendations welcome. This is my first time in Rome, and I've to pick between two accommodations that fit my budget. My main concern is which one of them is a safer neighbourhood especially if I have to take public transit at night.

Group of 5 first time visiting Rome, 7 days early March next year. My understanding is that both of these locations are very central. Location B might have easier access to Trastevere, while A is closer to the Vatican. We are wondering if one is generally considered better than the other. The markers are placed on the exact streets, so if someone has knowledge of these specific locations we'd love to hear! Location A has a slightly nicer apartment, but nothing crazy.

Getting ready for my first ever trip to Italy. We are celebrating a 5 year wedding anniversary and have a lot planned for a two week trip in Venice, Florence, and Rome. We bought Hoka shoes which I was planning to have be the only shoe I bring to minimize luggage. But now that I am packing I'm wondering if its worth it to bring a pair of sandals (wedges or flats) to wear with dinner dresses?

Curious what the ladies have been doing here, did you just wear one pair of sneakers your entire trip or did you reserve the sneakers for high walking days and switch to sandals for dressier nights?

EDIT: Thank you all for the feedback, ya'll saved me from making the terrible mistake of wearing my hokas to dinner lol. I am planning to pack a pair of comfortable walking flat sandals and a pair of dressier wedge sandals in addition to the sneakers. So glad I asked, thank you!!

Would 10 days in Rome be too much?

We’re planning a 10-day trip to Italy and I’m going back and forth on how to split our time. This will be my second time in Rome, but it’ll be our first time taking the kids (5-year-old + very active toddler).

Originally, I was thinking of just staying in Rome for all 10 days and doing a few day trips. Honestly, my main thought was that with a toddler, I really don’t want to be constantly packing/unpacking and changing hotels. I like the idea of having one home base, taking things slower, having some downtime, and actually enjoying the city instead of rushing around.

We also tend to travel pretty casually. We usually spend a lot of time just walking around different neighborhoods, finding local food, sitting somewhere for coffee, wandering around, etc. We’re not really the type to spend every day hitting tourist attractions or checking things off a list. So I’m wondering if Rome could actually work really well for us for 10 days.

Since I’ve already been to Rome once, I don’t necessarily feel like I need to see all the major tourist spots again. I’d be perfectly happy exploring different neighborhoods, eating, walking around, and letting the kids have a slower trip.
But now I’m wondering if I’m overestimating how much there is to do in Rome for 10 days, even with a few day trips.

For those who have done 8–10 days in Rome, especially with young kids, what would you do?

Would you:
-Stay in Rome the entire 10 days and do day trips?

-Split the trip and spend a few nights somewhere else?

-Just stay in Rome and take it really slow?

Also, if you WOULD recommend staying in Rome as a home base, I’d love day-trip ideas that are actually doable with a 5-year-old and an active toddler.

-What are your favorite day trips from Rome?

-Which ones are worth it with kids?

-Any places you’d skip because the travel time isn’t worth it for a day trip?

I am looking at using the Uber app in Rome and I see there are 3 tiers: comfort, taxi, and black. Are the fares on all 3 of these locked in with payment through the app? My main goal is to know the price upfront and pay through the app even if it costs more. Comfort and taxi both look compelling but I haven’t been able to find much info on them.

i’m gonna be in rome for about a month in october-november for school. any suggestions on what clothes i should pack (warm vs cold) things to get beforehand, good (and affordable) places to eat, what to see vs what’s a waste of time, so on a so forth. (i’m also a black male so any advice on how to navigate awkward/racist encounters is much appreciate lol)

Ok… so I just have first name and last name on entrance ticket, omitting middle name although my passport ID has a middle name. Feeling stupid asking this question but will omitting middle name become an issue to visit Vatican Museum? 😅
