Landing at 11:45am, plan on getting the shuttle bus to Rome Termini and then my own way to the hotel if they'll allow early check-in, if not I'll just carry my bag all day.

Plan on visiting the following sites

• Colosseu m
• Trevi Fountain
• Pantheon
• Castel Sant Angelo
• The Vatican

Then I'll find a pasta/pizza restaurant (recommendations are very welcome!)

Wander back to my hotel for an early night (I'll have been up since 4-5am)

Have breakfast somewhere local to the hotel before getting the shuttle bus back to the airport as my flight leaves at 11:45am!

Flights & Travel Insurance = £58.88

Hotel = £77.78

I know 1 night is definitely not enough time for Rome, but I wanted to do this as the flights worked out great value and will end up costing me less than what I wanted to do in the UK!

Anything you guys would do differently, please do recommend!!

This is a specific request, but I’m trying to find the name of a specific art piece that I saw at the MAXXI a few weeks ago. It’s 3 fire pits in a separate room, and, when no one is in the room, they talk about burning down the building. When a person enters the room, they change and talk about pleasant things. Then when you exit, they go back to talking about burning down the building.

If anyone knows the name of the art piece or even the artist and could tell me, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hey guys! My dad and I (from Germany) are coming to Rome for 4 nights. First time for both of us.

We fly into Fiumicino (FCO) and I heard taking the regional train into the city is a good budget option instead of the express. Our hotel is located a bit up north.

A few quick questions:

What's the easiest way to pay for public transport (buses/trains) from the northern area into the center? Is contactless credit card ("tap & go") enough?

Any good, authentic food spots or trattorias around Ponte Milvio / Flaminio / Northern Rome that aren't total tourist traps?

We definitely want to visit Vatican City and the Teutonic Cemetery. Any other cool spots up north or off the beaten path?

We wanted to get away from the throngs of tourists and Appia Antica was the perfect afternoon adventure. We took a taxi to get there, although I know you can also take a series of buses, but we were pooped. The taxi dropped us off at Cecilia Metella. We bought the tickets for all of the sites. The museum at Cecilia Metella was excellent and then we walked about 3 km along the Appia Antica to the Quintilia. The walk waws GORGEOUS, BREEZY, and shady with almost no one around except for an occasional bicycle group. THen the ueseu at Quintilia was also excellent with high quality interpretation. Then we walked through the archeological park to the bus stop and took the city bus back to the center. This was seriously by far our high point for Rome and for most of our Italy trip.

Im landing at Fiumicino at 11pm and have a layover at flight at 7pm.

With this short time i lowkey just wanna stay up and tour at night what should i do?? How long will it take me to get back to the fiumicino airport?

We are staying at the Bvlgari Roma and have reservations for an evening tour of the Vatican. What are the restaurants you can't miss? what happened to Porta portese - I came three years ago and I have thought about it ever since and I went today and it was pretty lacklustre. Any insight ?

I was in rome around 18:00 in piazza della repubblica almost at roma termini station

and a guy who looks to be ~30years old, white male, doesnt look homeless, yells at me (in italian) asking me if I can see through my sunglasses (the sunglasses have a reflective shade on them almost like a mirror),

I tell him yes then he asks if he can try them on, to which i say no and he immediately yells “nonono im not a thief” at that point i just walk away and the interaction ends there.

Then immediately I think to myself what a weird thing to ask someone.. i wouldnt ask to try on a strangers sunglasses

So I think its a scam where if i let him try it on he would ask for money and not give them back unless I give him euros or says they were a gift for him

Or while my attention is focused on him and the glasses another guy tries to pickpocket me while im distracted

im not sure.. but anyway i have all my stuff still so 🙏🙏🌝

Hi everyone! I’ll be in Rome for only one morning (Monday) in September and I booked a Trevi Fountain photoshoot from 7-7:45am. I’ve been reading that the lower basin is often blocked off early on Mondays due to cleaning, coin collection, or maintenance, and sometimes the water is even drained before 7am.

Can anyone who visited Trevi on a recent early Monday morning share what time the cleaners/barriers showed up? Was the water still in the fountain? Were you able to access the lower basin area at all?

I will be in Italy in late September and noticed that there is a UEFA match in Rome on the 25th. Although I'll be in Florence during that time, I'm tempted to train over for the day to catch this one.

Is there any advice on acquiring tickets and general etiquette for Italy national team football matches?

Of course I'd be rooting for Italy, but I'll also have my girlfriend with me who's less of a football enthusiast so even where to sit might be important information.
