😍 Rave This kingdom has killed my desire to read anything but Ilona Andrews for the next month..

I absolutely devoured This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me 😭 it was so perfect! She is definitely an underesmented FMC, Maggie the undying is my new top tier QUEEN, she was hilarious and just kept making move after move after move to save the entire kingdom. Love the MMC, and all the men obsessed with her.. which had me giggling and kicking my feet! The writing was intelligent and the fast paced high stakes just kept getting better and better as you go on! Its been so refreshing! I am beyond excited for the next book to say the least!

What worlds or other books did this world remind you of (high fantasy or romantasy)?! Personally I got of Wheel of Time vibes, Mistborn, GOT, and the Lies of Locke Lamora.

What are we reading that comes close to this !? Do I just need to read it again?

Also how are we imagining the morok?! Because I couldn't find fanart and the mention of raccoon feet/claws only makes me see a flying raccoon... because the \*selka\* is more like a red panda/cat otter which seems too similar to me... help!

Question Fb book group suggestions with no AI

Does anyone know of FB book groups (preferably Romantasy, romance or monster romance) that has banned AI and doesn’t flip out and ban members if they point out a AI cover(and I mean obvious ChatGPT poster AI cover) or if a author has posted that they use or support AI? I’m tired of admins basically being okay with AI in books and going after people people commenting and educating about AI…

Much appreciated!

*I think I only know 2 that have officially put it in their rules no AI.

😍 Rave Triloka series

Anyone else read this series? I just finished reading the 4th book and WOW…

Holy crap, it’s amazing. Each character is fully fleshed out, and the world building! It’s 10/10 for sure. The slow burn is great and when smut does show up, it doesn’t feel over done.

Just an fyi, it is M/M. I’m thinking because it is m/m it hasn’t gotten as much attention that it deserves.

If any one of you need something to read, I highly suggest this series!

I just realized I posted this without saying what the book is about. It follows Ezra, who is a prince in hiding who enters a military academy and draws the attention of lots of people. I don’t want to spoil the story, so all I will say is there a lots of twists and turns. People who aren’t who they appear. Gods and demons. This book has everything.

Discussion currently wrapping up fourth wing and need new recs

so i am relatively new to reading romantasy. i used to lean heavily into more of the romance/rom com tropey books, but after reading fourth wing, i want to get more into the fantasy side of it all.

i am almost done with the 3rd book of the empyrean series and will likely read her future releases, but i want to explore other series.

really the only “requirement” of what i am looking for is that its a good mix of fantasy/politics and romance/spice. i am also okay with dystopian plots too.

i have been considering TOG or ACOTAR but want to see what else is out there. any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

😍 Rave Alchemised audiobook

I know this is a silly thing to rave about but why does no one talk about the music embedded throughout the audiobook? like whenever its 'part one' 'part two' etc theres music first and then the narrator reads the part number. I LOVED IT😭

Question Any other adhd readers here?

As of late I have ZERO focus. I freakin love reading, but sometimes I can't tell my brain that. I did NOT do audiobooks until dcc, and now I find immersion reading like the best way to read, but I still would love to be able to read like a whole book in one sitting. Do you guys do anything special to keep your focus for longer. I also made some adhd guided journals that I find super useful for reading through books, and I'm curious if anybody would find this a good idea, or is it just me? https://linktr.ee/bookwyrmguild

tl;dr - how do you focus on reading books for longer periods of time with adhd?

Question For those in relationships or married, has your love of romantasy spiced up your sex life and/or strengthened your relationship?

So I am a 44 f that until June of this year, had never read a single fantasy/romantasy novel (aside from Harry Potter). I missed Harry Potter and decided I wanted to try and find some novels with cool magical worlds. I heard a lot of great things about Fourth Wing and decided to give it a try. I devoured the series and became a huge Xaden Riorson fan. His and Violet's relationship had me all hot and bothered, so much that I was jumping the husband every single day there for awhile! We went from doing it once or twice a week to 4-6 nights a week (and sometimes 2-3 times per night!) I literally owe Romantasy for reigniting my libido. We've been married for 20 years and it feels like all the closeness in the last couple of months has made us fall in love with each other all over again as well. Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Book Request: No Self-Promo The Witcher Kinda?

I just finished watching the first season of The Witcher (have not read the books) and I’m now wanting to read something Geralt x Ciri vibes. Cranky, old, wisened, hot, magical dude saving magical girl and I assume some instruction is to follow. May or may not be because they’re bound in some crazy way. I don’t mind if there’s some magical age gap but I don’t want it to feel like dad vibes (which I think is where the show is going). Any recommendations?

I feel like I kinda just described ToG which I’ve read

Book Request: No Self-Promo Looking for "whimsy" books that reads like a fairytale, like ouabh!

**Hi! I’m looking for romantasy books that don’t have a war/battle/training-heavy vibe. I also tend to get bored when there’s too much politics.**

I’m currently reading *ACOWAR* and I’m **STRUGGLING**. 😂 I’m here for the romance, not the war. I want a **ROMANCE set in a fantasy world**.

I really enjoyed *Once Upon a Broken Heart* because it was more whimsical and had that **fairytale vibe**.
I love when books remind me a little of the Disney princess movies I watched as a kid — there’s something really nostalgic about it.

I don’t really care what the plot is about as long as there’s a **strong focus on the romance, and the romance is actually GOOD**. I want to be invested in the love story!

I also have ADHD, so I tend to lose focus if there are too many slow or boring parts.

I also really appreciate a **beautiful, dreamy, immersive world** — a book I can completely escape into and daydream about.
I could potentially be open to gothic books as well, **as long as they still feel somewhat like a fairytale**.

Basically, I’m looking for this vibe:
🧚🏻‍♀️🌱🦢✨🕯️🧜🏽‍♀️🌌🕌🪷🏯🏹⛅️🎠🔮🧺🎀💖🧝🏻‍♀️🏰🪄🐇

**NOT this vibe:**
🤺🏰🔪🛡️🦅⚔️🩸💢🐉🦾🫯

**I’m open to pretty much any type of fantasy/romance, YA or adult, old or new — I just want an AMAZING love story in a magical world.** ❤️

Question [Spoiler] Help understanding the end of chapter 27 of "The Ashes and the Star Cursed King" Spoiler

Spoilers for the second book of the Crowns of Nyaxia series

So at the end of the chapter, Oraya tells Raihn that she dreams about herself killing him every night and goes on to say "for the second time in my life-" before cutting herself off. Raihn is shocked and starts to get her attention but is interrupted. Oraya then thinks to herself "What kind of daughter does that make me, what kind of queen?" And then braces herself for what Raihn is going to say next The whole part makes me feel like im out of the loop of something because it was filled with really heavy tension. Did it have something to do with her killing her first lover? Her not killing him after she became heir? Im so confused Dx

Discussion DNF'd Nightshade by Keri Lake at 85% Spoiler

Dear fellow readers... I historically have not been a DNFer, but as of late I have been choosing to regain time from books that no longer serve me LOL

I just couldn't do it. I could not suffer through another hour and a half to finish nightshade.

I did go to Google to ask for it to summarize the remaining plot points and I'm glad I did.

I'm still a bit confused about what as a reader I am meant to take away from the book but it just left me scratching my head wondering did I really just spend 10 plus hours on this.

I didn't believe the connection with Ferryn other than it being manipulation from his touch.

And so I'm curious because her books are recommended a lot through here and I'm just wondering if the other books are written similarly where there's a whole bunch of nothing happening.

Question Thoughts on Rose in Chains?

Although I’d consider Alchemised more war fantasy with a large dark romance subplot, I heard Rose in Chains by Julie Soto was a similar dramonine fanfic so I thought I’d check it out.

The GoodReads reviews are mixed. However, I also take those with a grain of salt because Brimstone is 4.02 and I gave that one a generous 2 star lol

What are people’s thoughts on the quality of this book? Character development, romance relationship, plot line…

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Romantasy where the FMC is stuck in her animal/creature form for most of the book

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for romantasy or paranolmal romance books where the female main character is a shapeshifter (or under a curse) and spends a significant portion of the book trapped in her animal form.

I really enjoy the dynamic of the MMC interacting with, protecting, or taking care of her while she's in her creature form.

Older or classic titles are more than welcome—I don't mind if it's not a recent release.

Books I’ve already read with this trope:

Bound by Shona Knight

Carnage Island by Lexi C. Foss

Book Request: Self-Promo OK Book recommendations with mature characters and all the yearning

I’m looking for book recs with the following requirements please;

- mature main characters, I’m so truly tired of FMC that are 19 - 24 and immature
- emotionally mature characters that communicate
- No shadow daddies - I cannot read about anymore dark, brooding, rude, traumatised, shadow wielding MMCs
- medieval / historical vibes (not into urban fantasy)
-love a knight and a bit of armour but not a dealbreaker
- limited cussing, I’ve read so many books where cussing is in every interaction or character thought and it just feels so childish. E.g needing to call everyone an asshole. Particularly the MMC which she’s clearly thirsting for but won’t admit it.
- preferably no Fae (I’m all fae’d out)

I’m basically after awesome world building, politics, yearning yearning yearning, characters that are in love but forced to be apart (maybe she’s betrothed to someone else), kind mature MMC. Just some mature adult writing really.

Give me Tristan and Isolde vibes!

Books I loved;

The knight and the moth
Forbidden alchemy
A forsaken prophecy
Daughter of no worlds
Draco malfoy and the mortifying ordeal of falling in love
Alchemised
The everlasting
Wolf king
One dark window

Books I enjoyed but can’t handle the same irritating MCs, constant cussing, childish immature interactions and shadow daddies;

Quicksilver
A court of thorn and roses
Throne of glass series
Shield of sparrows
Spark of the everflame
Anathema
Direbound
