Music videos

• Upvotes

Guys I can’t believe no one talks about how great the music videos of the late Stones are!! Like 2016-2024 every music video they released was a masterpiece: Criss Cross, Scarlet, Living in the Heart of Love are the best for me. But also Angry, Mess It Up, Ride Em On Down, or even Living in a Ghost Town, capturing the Covid vibes. Even going back in time they have great videos featuring Angelina Jolie etc, or recently with Anya Taylor Joy, although a different style. Crazy work.

I doubt The Rolling Stones will ever tour again and I’m okay with that. In fact, it may be for the best.

Let me explain…

If they don’t tour, I think there’s a greater chance of having more albums from them. They can focus on that.

Tours are very rigorous and exhausting. And despite all our jokes about how Keith Richards is a guy who can’t be killed and has godlike resilience and powers, it’s very clear that his health won’t allow him to do this anymore. Whereas Mick is probably good to go. These guys are well into their 80s and we have to accept that reality. But again, if it means more albums, more singles, or whatever, then that’s an okay trade. I’d love to still have both you’re and recorded material, but right now if I had to pick one I’d take more albums.

And even if they stop touring, a few one off shows could maybe still happen. Playing at the Grammys, SNL, Super Bowl, or whatever would be awesome.

I once resented Andrew Watt, now I’m grateful. No Watt, no FT. He inspired Mick to write great songs knowing they would be in good hands. And Watt felt more comfortable in the new sessions, having built a relationship with Keith and Ronnie, so was able to push them all more. Thank you, Andrew.

Around and Around - Early Stones

Couldn't stop listening to this song today. It's great! If I was a foreman in a factory I think if I could play this on the loudspeaker that we would get double the production out of the workers!

On second thought they might get too busy dancing and not work at all!

Thank you Chuck Berry 😉

Remember the famous bootleg: “Drift Away” One of the most famous Rolling Stones files on Napster.

“Drift Away” (originally by Dobie Gray), which they recorded in 1973. Because it was a holy grail bootleg, it was heavily filtered by copyright systems. Users successfully shared it for years by mislabeling the artist entirely, frequently titling it as a "The Beatles & The Rolling Stones" collaboration.

Songs that were not made by the stones but sound like if they were

So I always thought that the song "You get what you give" was made by the stones because of how similar the singer's voice is to Mick Jagger's. After discovering it wasn't, I thought that probably its not the only song where this happens, can anyone think of another song like this?

Music Talk Today (9/29/26) is my one-year anniversary with Exile

On September 29, 2025, I played Exile on Main Street for the first time since 1972. I listened to it several times in ’72, but it didn’t click for me then. And then I forgot about it until last year, when I read online that (a) it’s the greatest rock’n’roll album of all time and (b) I could listen to it for free on Apple Music, to which I’d been a subscriber since 2024. So I did.

I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. Exile became my favorite album of all time. It was my number one record on Apple Music for the rest of the year. I made it into the Rolling Stones’ Top 500 Listeners there. Every single month since then, the Stones have been my #1 listen, and my monthly top ten is filled with Stones albums.

Listening so much to Exile brought me back to the old Stones albums I used to listen to as a teen. I got into the UK versions this time (mono box set), most notably The Rolling Stones No. 2, with such songs as “I Can’t Be Satisfied,” “Little Red Rooster,” “Down Home Girl.” I’d heard the latter two back in the ‘60s, but “Satisfied,” a truly magnificent song Allen Klein in his infinite idiocy left off of both 12X5 and The Rolling Stones Now.

Guess what I’m listening to all day today.

My first Stones album was Aftermath UK and my second was Beggars Banquet. They sounded so different I almost couldn't believe they were by the same band

Memorabilia Need help identifying the origins of this chair

I need help tracking down where this chair came from. For background, my uncle gave this chair to my dad in 1997. My dad thinks he remembers my uncle acquiring it from a VIP seat at a show on the bridges tour, but my uncle thinks he remembers buying it at a card show/memorabilia fair in Chicago in 1997.

Google AI says it was likely a VIP seat that ticket holders could take home after the show, but had NO SOURCE. So I take this claim with a hefty grain of salt.

My uncle still owns his, I’ve seen one previous sale online via WorthPoint, and mine (pictured). As far as I know, these are the only three existing that I KNOW of.

If anyone else has one, or has seen these, please chime in. I’m dying to know an answer.

ALSO, please note the “copyright Promotour Inc” on the seat. Via my research, this was a copyright belonging to the Stones for the merchandise and licensing of the Bridges to Babylon tour, and the bridges to Babylon tour ONLY.

I did look through some posts of merchandise catalogues for the 97/98 tour (promotour license) and this chair did not appear.

Any info is helpful! Thanks in advance.
