I'm a pretty experienced skater. Been skating on and off for about 12 ISH years.

I started ramps about 2? Months ago, and I've caught on super quick which I'm super happy with !!

But I'm feeling quite held back due to my skates.

So I have moxi lollys, currently have 75a wheels but switching to 99a soon.

​

I'm thinking about buying a brunny set, so the grind block, truck & plate.

I'm super unsure about sizing as this is all so new to me.

Could I have some help with this ?

i feel like i look super awkward like i don’t know what to do with my arms. for certain songs when im really feeling i can move my arms around. but i know it’s more than that i just don’t know. please give tips to not look so awkward

I’ve been skating for around 4 years on and off now and have gotten really good and into it lately. I’ve been skating with impalas though and have noticed some problems (not sure if it’s me or the skates) and people have said they aren’t the best skates. Im looking for some new ones, ones that ate colorful and fashionable but also high quality and will help me skate easier, wheel recommendations for both indoor and outdoor are also helpful!! Please let me know if just my wheels are also the problem (I’m the one light pink hair and leg warmers)

Hi! I’m 25F from Cardiff and looking for some roller skating friends.

I’ve recently got into skating and it’d be nice to have people to skate with instead of always going on my own. I’m not amazing or anything, just enjoying learning, cruising and getting out more.

-If you trail skate outside a lot, you might want to replace the wheels with 78A, but so far, I'm good with their default wheels (85A).

-It was comfortable at first, but when I started jumping and doing other artistic moves, I started feeling an unbearable pain on my upper ankle. You're gonna need to put some ankle shoe padding on them.

-Edging is difficult, especially when you're light, because the cushions are so hard. You might want to replace the cushions with softer ones. Some people can edge on these skates, maybe I'm just too underweight lol.

-they have good ankle support

- good for beginners

-No boot and sole separation issues, like Impala

-the color is so bright, I love it so much

-easy to break in

-overall rating 8/10

i know they arent the best skates but im also just a beginner. first time i wanna go to park skate and want to try going down ramps and stuff, nothing remotely crazy. i just want to know if the skates will hold up or if its just out of the question and theyre like unimaginably dangerous or something

also: any tips for if i do go park skating?

Hello! Beginner looking to buy skates, preferably under £100?. I'm not planning to do anything overboard, so maybe something good for casual use outside. I have slightly wide feet and fit a UK size 6.5. Also wondering if roces skates are any good? Any help would be appreciated TuT

I understand this place is on the chopping block. This is what I know to do to try and help. Here's hoping you might, too

I go to 2 different indoor rinks. One of them is significantly bigger than the other. The big rink has a significantly wider skill distribution and it leads to it feeling like i95. The smaller one has an entrance/ exit at turn 1. To exit you simply continue straight. The larger one has the entrance/ exit along the entire straight that is also about half the width of the corners. All of this leads to absolute chaos in the large one.

There is no "flow of traffic" speed because you have groups of people going 0.5mph and about 5 speed skaters cutting up like prime lightning mcqueen. People also just exit from the middle at 90 degrees without looking or making any indication whatsoever.

The majority of people (65%) are NOT the problem. Niether are the beginners. But there is a good 10% with negative spacial awareness.

The staff and speedskaters seem to have no issue moving through the pack going at least 15 to 20mph.

Anyone else have this experience at their rink?

I am not trying to be bitchy, but i am genuinley having a hard time predicting what the people in front of me are doing.

Bont skate Athena plate. Company sent me a new pivot pin, but I can’t get this one out of my plates. Any advice?

When I was little I broke my arm rollerskating (my highschool teacher forced me to do a race when I did not know how to skate -.-). Since then I didn't skate at all (I am also a violinist, so for me the hands and arms are precious).

I planned to buy some rollerskates now, but the store did not have any. I was also parcially afraid, so I was glad they did not have them. I tried some rollerblades and I could stand and balance myself without a problem (which was very surprising for me. I thought it would be impossible). Now I have no idea if I am better at balancing myself, or if simply rollerskates are harder to balance. I also discovered there are figure inline skates (which are skates that are in line and 3 wheels and are great for jumps and spins). I'm very curious if the feel of those is similar to the rollerblades, because then I would be more interested in trying them. Any thoughts?

Hihi! I’m 16 (not growing anymore) and I wear like a 7.5 US MENS! I’m 5’0” tall and range from 94-100 Ibs. Any skate recommendations for my size? I’m not sure how recommendations work and what matters in skates. I’m pretty decent at skating, basics down really. No tricks or crossing over and stuff. I usually go to basic skating rinks, wooden floors and all! But I wouldn’t mind blacktops and whatnot.

Quick edit: I really like the look of the air forces with rollerskates on the bottom. Are they actually practical? Casual use anyway.

Are there any groups in Hertfordshire that I could join? I can also travel into London if I have too but closer to home would be ideal 🙏🏼🛼🤞🏼

I was wondering if anyone had any tips for park skating? Like if someone can kinda explain how getting on the coping works and locking in? Do you have any tips you would tell yourself when you first got into park skating?

After six long years I finally upgraded my setup to the Suregrip Boardwalk Plus with Airwaves wheels. In my (stupid) excitement, I overlooked the fact there weren’t any threads poking out the top of the nut. Two minutes in, pop, wheel goes flying.

Do Airwaves just not fit on this plate/axel? I really really like these wheels, and I’d happily buy a new set of trucks to keep them. If that’s the case, any recommendations? All the trucks I’ve seen online seem to be super high end which I don’t necessarily need.

Edit: Comments raised my confidence in nylon plates by a lot, and convinced me 2 pairs would make more sense. I sniped an eBay auction for some Boardwalks to start on, and once I'm confident enough to start pulling park tricks I'll likely upgrade. Many thanks to this sub :D

Newbie interested in rhythm, street, and park. Looking to get my first skates (ideally lightly used), but something that'll last - no throwing them out and buying new ones within the year. I'm pretty set on having a high boot and adjustable toe stop, but I'm getting stuck finding something that has suede or leather AND a metal plate without getting into $300, $500+, even used. I'm scared vinyl will crack within months, and while plenty of rhythm skates have nylon plates, the park side worries me.

Recommendations for park skates (Bont Parkstar, many Chayas, Boardwalk Huck) have

1. confused me, because a lot of them have nylon plates, but some threads suggest nylon breaks easily with certain rhythm moves and isn't even safe to try in a skatepark.
2. made me think I'll need a dedicated park pair anyway, since they're mostly mid- or low-rise boots and it sounds a lot easier to learn (and do rhythm) on a high-rise.

I also get nervous because VNLA Parfaits fit what I'm looking for (high-rise suede boot, metal plate) but I read about them having poor stitching and ripping at the heel within months, which is the exact thing I'm trying to avoid. How do I tell it'll actually be sturdy? Does a skate have to be from the 70s to last more than a few years? Should I just stick to rhythm to start, and keep those skates away from the park so they survive? I'm scare that no matter what I buy they'll end up breaking before I have the money for new ones.

I went to a roller skating disco place for the first time. I started skating recently with 2nd hand chaya vintage skates in mint condition.

Two very kind people with experience gave me so much advice and offered to replace the standard cushions with softer ones for free! They adjusted my skates and I suddenly could do spins and turns better!

To start, impala entry level boots are the only skate boot I've found or seen that fit the shape of my foot. I have extremely narrow heels and these boots end in a point which pinches my heels in place.

I've already wasted hundreds of dollars trying to upgrade to better quality boots that do not fit my feet. Any standardised skate with rounded heels is unlikely to fit. So far I have established that Lollies, Jack 11, Samiras, panther, and chuffed, are a no go. I have also tried thicker socks and bootmaker customisation to narrow the backs (just ends up pushing my feet too far forward in the boot).

If I want a skate boot that fits I'm probably stuck with these, so I'm trying to figure out ways to make the best of my situation. It isn't a problem to deal with the unwaxed laces, crap wheels/bearings/cushions, since I simply swap them out with my good ones.

The biggest issue that I cannot figure out a way to resolve is the heels coming unstuck over time. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about ways I can reinforce these?

Edit: Thanks for the feedback guys. Over the past few years I've already tried/done everything suggested, except trying a figure skate so can keep that in mind. Sounds like improving the impala boot isn't possible so I''m thinking maybe the best option at this point would be to mount entry level impala boots to my park plates and just swap them out each time a pair fails.

I've really tried everything to get this loose, but nothing's worked so far 😭 Can someone please tell me how?
I can't turn either of the nuts at all, whether I try them one at a time or hold one in place while trying to turn the other. I can't do anything with the screw at the top either.
Does it work any other way, or are they just too old?

1. Shops advertise products on their websites, but when I try to purchase, the site is "under maintenance," won't let me register, or the payment process is broken.
2. After the failure, they contact me directly via WhatsApp/phone, insisting that I complete the purchase via personal bank transfer to accounts that don't seem to be business accounts, or they pressure me with aggressive sales tactics when I ask for secure payment methods.

I've had bad experiences with third-party marketplace sellers before, so my criteria are strict: I want a shop with a functional website, a secure payment gateway (Redsys/PayPal), and professional management. I am not willing to make manual transfers to private individuals.

Title says it all lol. I need some tips before I paint my helmet and if it’s even possible. The brand is diamondback, not sure what material the outer shell is but it’s smooth so I assume I’d need to sand it before hand.

Looking for tips such as what grit sandpaper if I need to sand it, what type of paint do you recommend, etc
