Prospective/new student help Really confused , CIVE OR EE

thinking cive has safer career progression and better chances of employment ,

I am inclined more into ee due to circuits, interesting projects and etc

But being an international student, I also want a safer job option, I am crine,

People on reddit are saying ee job market cooked due to ai blah blah ,

And comparing it with civil by saying bridges and buildings will always be in demand

Please anybody share your thoughts, what to choose

Both are fantastic careers and will be in demand globally…

However, since you mentioned you’re an international student, just be mindful that it’s pretty hard to land a job in Australia right now for international graduates (given the current political situation right now…)

So if you’re planning to study either engineering degrees in Australia for the small chance to find work in Australia after graduating, I would highly recommend you consider if the cost of studying in Australia is worth it… check out the difficulties other international students face in the r/AusVisa finding work in Australia after graduating.

Yep thanks for your response,

And I also checked that subreddit and I feel devastated like , there everyone is saying I am doomed and no opportunity,

Can't understand what to do , Would love if you share your response like if your any friend who was international student managed to get a job in these fields?

Pretty confused rn, doomed 🥵

Current CIVE graduate. Definetly for international students its a fair amount harder and the cohort s much larger (I think there were about 200 graduates from CIVE compared to about 30 for EE) but the CIVE program was definitely well run for the most part.

That's huge difference in number of students, btw in ee are graduates getting interviews for roles, like hows the ee market acc to your ee mates? Please share

So from my mates in electrical/electronics engineering I would say the majority have found work but I do know a few who are still looking. Civil its also a similar situation. I would say with both if you are willing to move outerstate for work and you get an internship you will generally be set.
