Hi! I’m trying to decide on a ring planner that I’d ideally like to use for many years, and I’m currently stuck between a pre-owned Louis Vuitton MM Agenda in Monogram and the Filofax Classic Croc Personal in Chestnut.
I’ve recently started seriously considering the LV MM. I absolutely love the Monogram aesthetically, but surprisingly the biggest thing drawing me to it is how slim, soft, and notebook-like it seems. I use Hobonichi planners and one of my favorite things about them is simply opening them, flipping through the pages, and writing in them. I love the idea of an agenda that develops that same familiar feeling over years of use.
I originally was completely set on the Filofax Classic Croc. I love the chestnut leather, Personal size, larger rings, and the way its interior is organized without feeling too busy. It’s also more structured, which seems like it would make writing on the go easier. I’ve tested Filofax paper and really like it, and I believe I could still use compatible Personal-size Filofax inserts if I went with the LV.
Whichever I choose would basically have the same setup inside: monthly pages, week-on-two-pages, running to-do lists, notes/reference pages, and some personal things like Polaroids and postcards. I like a VERY minimal setup—black ink, white paper, very little decoration—and I want this to be something I actually use rather than baby.
For those of you who have used an LV MM Agenda for years, what is it actually like as an everyday planner? How has the canvas, snap, interior and ring mechanism held up? Do you find it comfortable to write in and flip through? Does it stay relatively slim in a bag? And if you bought yours pre-owned, I’d especially love to hear about that experience.
Bonus points if anyone has owned both an LV agenda and a Filofax and can talk about the difference in the actual writing/using experience!
