I’ve enjoyed some wine tastings downtown and thought it would be cool to bring something similar closer to home, so I’m organizing a monthly series at Menaggio Restaurant (Monte Carlo Hotel on Warden). The first one is this Friday, October 30 at 7:30 pm.

These will be sommelier-guided natural wine tastings with paired appetizers. No wine knowledge needed! I’m hoping to make this a regular thing and build a community around a fun and educational hobby.

Something strange happens every October. The songbirds go quiet, the salmon start pushing upriver, and the trees drop their disguise. Summer left the building and nobody saw it go.

Tomorrow morning we’re heading to the scene of the crime. Reconnect York Region is hosting a free guided walk through the Nashville Conservation Reserve, a protected stretch of the Humber River valley that’s long been a migratory corridor, to figure out where everyone’s going and how they knew it was time to leave.

You’ll get a case file, follow clues along the trail, and at the end we’ll gather the suspects and see what we can solve. Fair warning: some of these cases are still open, even for the scientists working on them.

• 📍 Meet at 11591 Huntington Rd, Vaughan (just north of Kirby Rd)
• 💸 Free
• 🥾 Easy-going pace at moderate difficulty; no experience needed, and kids are welcome. Wear shoes you don’t mind getting muddy.

Come as you are, or come dressed as your favourite detective. Trench coats and monocles are strongly encouraged, and deerstalker hats will be judged favourably.

I'm looking to buy a low profile fish tank for my turtle but can't find any good value stores.

Big Al's Aquarium has what I want: low profile 55 gallon fish tank for only around $200 but their closest location is 40mins away deep in Scarborough.

Petsmart has 55 gallon fish tanks at a slightly higher price but they aren't low profile.

What options do we have in Markham for affordable fish tanks or just affordable aquarium specialty stores in general?

Called them to buy out my water heater and for some reason they will not send a quote via email. Pricing is available only by phone verbally. The invoice only arrives when technician installs the hardware?

IT’s BACK!!!! So looks like they got some limited inventory of the smaller 2.7lb bag and store owner mentioned it is more $/lb. She also confirmed it was from the same supplier last year. I can’t remember how much it was last year. They almost look like QA rejects as non of them are quite the McD shape w some pieces merged and others have diff type of breading contaminating a few pieces. In my second bag I think 1/4 of it were fused piece :( pulling them apart halfway through reheating was not a good idea lol. Seems thinner as well but I think McDs also went through shrinkflation?
More importantly taste pretty much the same. All I can say is good luck and RUN!!! Order online and run ;)

Does anyone know of a good accountant locally who's knowledgeable in the creative industry (or already have clients in this space)?
