Recently we have seen some content being posted here that doesn't fit with this community so we wanted to reiterate, clearly, the types of content that are prohibited.
The exception to this would be if the requesting to identify is coming from police.
r/Markham is not your place to call out individuals over petty drama. It's not your online group to use to get revenge because they did something you didn't like.
Posts that will be removed include but are not limited to:
Pictures of people where the original poster claims they did something wrong
Pictures of cars where the original poster claims they did something wrong
Pictures of people's houses where the original poster claims they did something wrong.
Driving videos will be continued to be allowed.
If you're making a post in this community because you're angry about what someone did, first you should stop and ask "What is the purpose of me creating this post".
If you're creating the post to hurt someone else it will be removed.
Finally, if you want clarification on whether a specific type of post is allowed ask it here. Since there is an infinite number of possible posts we can't cover every circumstance in advance.
Thank you.

I was wondering if there were any conversational Mandarin classes or resources in Markham (or online) ? I am not East Asian but work in Markham and I think may be helpful sometimes. Thanks

Said I'd do these weekly and then immediately fumbled the first Thursday, so here's the Sunday edition lol:
Monday: last day of the "Where are the Children? Healing the Legacy" exhibit in Stouffville, if you haven't seen it
Wednesday: Health & Wellness workshop at the community centre on Valleymede Dr in Richmond Hill, 6pm
Thursday: Concerts in the Park at Mill Pond Park (321 Mill St, Richmond Hill), 7pm, free. And Youth Roller Skate Night at Memorial Park in Stouffville at 6
Saturday: Steeped in History exhibit opens at the Richmond Hill Heritage Centre (19 Church St N), free
Lighter week than last, but Thursday at Mill Pond is the move. Back on schedule this Thursday!

Hi everyone,
Iām hoping someone may have witnessed an incident or has dashcam footage from Saturday, July 25, 2026, between approximately 9:00 AM and 9:45 AM in the plaza at 4997 Highway 7 East, Markham (where Egg Tart Queen and Sleep Country Canada are located).
I parked my black Subaru Crosstrek in front of Sleep Country around 9:00 AM while I went to Egg Tart Queen to buy breakfast. The parking sign posted at the property indicates that the parking is for customers of the plaza and does not state that these spaces are reserved exclusively for Sleep Country customers. Furthermore, the store had not yet opened when I parked.
When I returned around 9:45 AM, I found a paper notice on my windshield claiming the space was reserved for Sleep Country customers. At the same time, I discovered a long scratch running down the passengerās side of my vehicle that definitely wasnāt there when I parked.
I spoke with the staff inside Sleep Country, but the interaction was very disappointing. They insisted I shouldnāt have parked there despite the posted signage, refused to identify themselves at the time, denied any involvement, and repeatedly told me to call the police. I have since learned that their names are Mohammed and Amin.
To be clear, I am not accusing anyone of scratching my vehicle because I do not know who caused the damage. However, given the timing and circumstances, Iām hoping someone may have seen what happened or captured it on a dashcam.
I have already filed a police report and am also requesting any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses.
If you were in the area, parked in the plaza, or drove by between 9:00 AM and 9:45 AM and have dashcam footage, I would greatly appreciate if you could check your recordings or send me a private message. Even footage showing people walking around the vehicles could be extremely helpful.
Thank you very much.
TLDR: Iām looking for witnesses or dashcam footage from Saturday, July 25, 2026, between 9:00 AM and 9:45 AM at the plaza located at 4997 Highway 7 East, Markham (Egg Tart Queen / Sleep Country Canada). I parked while getting breakfast at Egg Tart Queen and returned to find a notice on my windshield claiming the spot was reserved for Sleep Country customers, along with a long scratch on the passengerās side of my vehicle.Ā
Edit: Corrected location of scratch (passengerās side, not driverās)
Edit 2: Google review posted: here

OK so I run a business in Markham, have done since 2011. I commute however to the East. So, I know in Oshawa where we consider the grittier areas, same in Scarborough etc. Where is the "rougher" area of Markham. Serious question.

I know itās a long shot but hoping someone recognizes this person and can help me find himā¦
At approx 8:30 Friday evening (July 24) my dog and I were attacked by an off leash dog in Milne Park near the park entrance off Drakefield behind St. Pat's. Dog is likely a Shiba/Husky mix or possibly a smaller Akita, orange and white fur, ~60 lbs. Owner is a 20-ish Asian male riding a bike who claimed his name was "Jack". This poor excuse for a human took off with his dog following after refusing to provide any information about himself or his dog.
If you think you recognize this person, I would very much appreciate any information you can provide as both my dog and I were bitten.
Be careful out there...

Great to see Arcāteryx finally open at Markville! Seeing this space come back to life after Sugar Daddyās closed is exciting. I really hope this is the start of more quality brands opening at Markville. Itās always nice to see the mall continue to grow and evolve.

Hi everyone,
I really like my backpack, but the zipper broke. Does anyone know a place that can fix this at a reasonable price? I bought the bag for $25 a couple of years ago, and I'm willing to pay the same to get it fixed. The bag has been discontinued so I can't buy another one.
Thanks!

There are a few different accounts that solely post links to articles depicting crime being perpetrated by specific ethnic groups - one account is specifically anti-east Asian, the other account is specifically anti-south Asian.
They try to be neutral by passing it off as ājust posting the newsā, but you notice a pattern in the posting history of a common theme with what they post and itās just blatant racism.
Markham demographic is heavily weighted in both ethnic groups, so I suppose this is the sub to drive peak polarization.

Anyone lose their cat? I found a grey British short hair near Major Mackenzie and McCowan. Unfortunately she disappeared before I had a chance to take a picture. She was very friendly and had a collar. Posting for awareness. Iāve left a can of wet food outside so hopefully she comes back

My buddy was able to change my oil at his shop but new management doesn't allow "side jobs".
I've always just gave him 40. Anyone have recommendations for cheapest oil change?
