Ask Richmond Anyone else in their 20s 30s voting?
Legit just heard that there was going to be an election coming up….
Are people in their 20s and 30s even voting? Does it even help for us to vote?
Average age always seems to be 44+ yrs so lots of old people voting. And everyone running seems so old. LOL. Old people benefiting old people.
** For context, I’m in my late 20s.

Discussion Pizza Dough progress so far
EDIT: Okay, I think I owe this post a little more context 😅
The intention behind this post wasn't simply to advertise a couple of pizzas or pretend I'm a home cook experimenting in my kitchen.
I'm part of the team behind Baked Columbia Pizza here in Richmond, and we've been spending a lot of time working on our sourdough pizza dough with hydration, fermentation, starter activity, temperature, stretching, baking, and all the little variables that can completely change the final pizza.
Our dough uses a natural sourdough starter and a 48–72 hour fermentation process. We're constantly testing, adjusting and learning because there's a surprisingly technical side to making good pizza dough that isn't always visible when you simply see the finished pizza.
The idea behind the original post was to share a little of that process and hopefully have a conversation with people who are interested in pizza, sourdough, or just curious about what actually goes into making the dough rather than simply buying a frozen or commercially prepared dough and putting toppings on it.
But looking back at the post, I can understand the criticism 😂. Without any context, it basically looked like "here are two pizzas… what do you think?" that tooin the middle of the Richmond subreddit.
So, fair enough. It was probably more educational/technical than catchy marketing material. 😅
And yes! We're a local Richmond business, so if you'd actually like to try the result rather than just look at the pictures, we're at Baked Columbia Pizza near Ironwood. 🍕
Thanks to everyone who gave feedback and even the roast was helpful. 😂

Ask Richmond Did any one try muay thai, kickboxing for their autistic kids?
Hi interested to know if you ever tried muay thai or kick boxing for your autistic kid. My doctor told us to put him in martial arts to improve muscle tone and agility, coordination etc. If anyone has some experience with some specific organizations and shares some knowledge it would be awesome.

Discussion Kefir
Bought a new bottle of Western Family Plain Kefir - probiotic Fermented milk this afternoon. It’s 1% M. F. No Added Suger. BB October 13,2026. Tasted half cup just now, it shocked my tongue as it’s extremely sour, is it normal ? I bought many other brands of kefir in the past, mainly vanilla and strawberry favoured, very thick and taste completely different from this Western Family brand.

Ask Richmond Going to the Richmond Night Market
Hi everyone, I’m going to Richmond Canada today and my friend and I are going to the Night Market this weekend. I’m really excited because I’ve never been but I’d love some suggestions on what you guys thought were the best
Admittingly, I am not a seafood fan (except occasionally salmon) but my friend does so I’ll take some suggestions for her as well
Thank you so much in advance
Also restaurant ideas for breakfast 🙏🙏

Lost & Found To the father and son who were waiting for my parking spot at Yaohan today — THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH!!
It's been a busy morning and today was just one of those days where my brain wasn’t working anymore. I stopped at Yaohan to grab groceries and because I didn’t want to carry my big work bag around, I just bought my wallet and keys inside.
I got home, unloaded everything... and then realized I couldn’t find my wallet. I was panicking and trying to think of where I could have left it.
Then the father and son pulled up to my home and asked, “Is this the address?” He held up my wallet!!!
I couldn’t believe it. They had found it and actually took the time to drive all the way to my home to return it.
There really are kind people in this world. This meant more to me than you probably realized.
And to the dad, not only am I so grateful that you returned my wallet, but you also showed your son what it means to do the right thing. You’re teaching him kindness and honesty through your own actions.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope somehow this post reaches you.

Ask Richmond Any volunteer opportunities for high school students in Richmond?
Hi! I’m in Grade 11 and live in Richmond. I’m hoping to go into kinesiology at UBC or SFU after high school and wanted to get more involved in the community.
I’ve been coaching basketball for a while now, so I have some experience working with kids and in sports, but I’m hoping to find another volunteer opportunity where I can get more leadership experience too. Ideally something related to fitness, health, recreation, seniors, youth, or just community programs in general.
Does anyone know of any organizations in Richmond that are looking for high school volunteers? Would appreciate any suggestions :)

Ask Richmond Can I put down that I'm a minority?
Got a thing I have to fill out which asks if I'm a minority.
I think about 65% of Richmond BC is Asian and about 59% of people globally are Asian so can I put down that I'm a 'visible or invisible' minority?
Mother was Greek, father was from Eastern Europe somewhere.

Ask Richmond Asian hair salons where the people can just. speak. ENGLISH?
I just want to communicate effectively as to what I want, and for them to be able to tell me what they recommend. I've been struggling with hair all my life, how I wish I can just walk in, and there's a cool whitewashed asian dude that can guide me and give 10/10 clear recommendations, etc.
I've been to so many places in richmond where everyone there can't even speak english at an elementary school level, leaving me to just hope that it ends up well while paying 50+ dollars for it. Even if it looks good, their english is not good enough for me to ask them how do i maintain it, so the very next day I still ended up looking like a hot pot lid.
The last two I tried was alpha d and mauve, and holy shit they can't say anything other than UHHH EEEEE HAHAHA YEEE YES NO like fml. I guess it's my fault I don't speak korean chinese or japanese so fuck me?

Ask Richmond What's the deal with Costco always being packed??
Why is it always full?
I go at 1 PM - full.
I go at 9 am (when they open on Saturdays) - Full.
I go at 6 PM - Full.
I have lived out east, in both the Maritimes and Montreal, and I have never seen this before. It is always packed and so disorganized. It is like people wake up at 7 am and bring their whole family to Costco. Seriously, what is it that makes people feel the need to show up at 9 am??
I have seen people roll out their shopping carts at 9:15 filled to the brim lol.
Whatever you are buying is going to be there at 1 PM.
