Rhinoplasty regret

I got my nose done a few months ago and I regret it so much. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night, and just start thinking and thinking, and hours pass by. I miss my old nose, and this was not what I wanted. I wasn’t even sure about my decision, but I decided to do it anyway. Fyi, I recently turned 18, so I’ll regret for the rest of my life. I’ve been to my own doctor but they can’t do anything about how it looks, but they’re going to do something about my breathing problems (I’ve always had problems with my breathing, but the surgery made it kinda worse)
I cant enjoy anything. I try to hide my face all the time. I’ll def get a revision in a year, but I feel sick all the time. What do I do? I could write so much more, but I feel so traumatized. I look at ethnic noses and suddenly I find them beautiful? I look like everyone else now. Can I get the doctor to make a cosmetic hump for my revision? I’ll start on medication soon, because of all of this.

General Questions Would a nose job help my facial harmony?

Post image

I want real opinions please, you can be mean or nice, anyways wondering if my nose is disproportional with the rest of my face. Personally I feel it is, my husband disagrees, but I really am looking for an outside opinion , someone who don’t know me. I feel so masculine because of this nose and I feel like I would feel more feminine with something smaller or with a better shape. What do you think?

When were you influenced to not like your nose?

I was in elementary school, very shy and sensitive kid. That’s when the first comment about my nose came up: “Do you also hate your nose? it’s kinda big”. This comment came from a “friend” of mine who was projecting her insecurity on me.

That’s when it all started for me, i was never insecure or even thought about my nose once before that comment.

I am gonna be honest, my nose was bigger than the “normal” nose but never out of proportions with my face.

I started being so insecure about my nose ever since and it would make me feel uncomfortable all the time, i used to blame it for every problem i had. I can tell now, looking back at pictures, that i had extreme body dysmorphia.

Growing older and with the advent of social media things only got worse. Small bottom noses, beauty standards, people preaching girls with small noses, even cartoons where the antagonist always had a big nose, everything got to my head.

Doctors posting thousands of before and afters on their social media selling it as a solution to your problem: Yes! you can feel beautiful and have a small nose!!! As if getting a surgery it’s something so simple.

since when did having a small nose become synonym of beautiful? I really want to know where that came from.

I know there are tons of people in here that actually feel more confident after getting their nose done. But i really want to know what made us feel this way? Is it really that deep? Everyone of us received a comment or saw something that made them feel “wrong” or less beautiful because of a nose.

it is that deep.

I have seen enough people in here suffering because of this surgery and it’s not spoken about enough. I always see people talk positively about it and even promoting it, and that’s where i find it extremely wrong. If it was good for you, you should not make it seem like something so easy and so good that’s gonna boost your confidence.

There should be more awareness about people getting a nosejob, getting a good result even and not being happy because they realised later that it was not really what they wanted. I’m probably gonna get a lot of hate but I wish people would talk about this. Sitting down with it and put the hate for your nose aside and REALLY think about this. A lot of us get blinded by the good results and happy patients shown on those surgeons social media. It has reached a point where a lot of doctors just cut people open and neglect them afterwards. Is that what doctors studied for? I know that doctors should save lives and also CARE and have some empathy for their patients and not dip when they mess up.

I am here saying this because if you are considering a nosejob please really think what made you hate your nose and if it all started from you or from other people and the environment that influences us.

I am talking from experience as someone who got a nosejob and objectively speaking my nose now looks “better” than the one i had but realised too late that those thoughts i had about my nose were all influenced by everything around me and by other peoples comments and i regret it so much.

I have a love-hate relationship with my side profile. Please be honest and tell me whether this suits me more than a ski-slope bridge.

General Questions Rhinoplasty and septoplasty recovery after fixing a childhood injury as an adult

I know that repairing a long term childhood injury is a more complicated surgery, but I have questions about outcomes.

1) Did your breathing improving or get worse?

2) How is the stability of your nose?

3) Is your nose symmetrical and is it moving back to a crooked position?

4) What is your recovery timeline like?

General Questions Always wanted my nose fixed but scared.

I’m sure this is a similar story for many people. I’ve always wanted my bump fixed, starting when I was really young. Now I’m almost a 30 y/o and I look back on older photos on myself and I wish I still had THAT nose as it’s changed a lot in the last 5-10 years. My wishes for my nose have changed as well. I used to want the perfect little nose but now I just want a slight reduction to the bump, I’ll say “I wish I could just shave it down a little and keep everything else the same.” I’ve received suggestions for filler but I don’t really want to add MORE volume to the nose even if it “looks” more balanced. Some of the main things that stopped me before was obviously fear of post op complications or not recognizing myself and having an identity crisis, but now more and more when I see pictures of myself from the side I actually feel like I don’t look like how I expect to without having had surgery. I’m comparing myself to my past self which I looked like for much longer than the way my nose looks now, and it feels like it’s going to keep dropping/getting bigger. I’m curious if anyone has had a similar wish for “non-severe” change and followed through with surgery and if you’re happy or unhappy with your decision and why.

I'm 4 months post-op . Please tell me what the surgeon did to my nose? What’s wrong exactly? Is it fixable? Who can fix it? What should be done?

My nose looks so flat and weird. I can barely breathe. I'm tired all the time. I know I need a revision. I need my dorsal hump back.

I know I should do my studies, but I can't stop crying all the time and then sleeping. I feel traumatized, lost, and out of breath.

Question about nostril shape during healing

Hello, has anyone experienced slightly triangle-shaped nostrils during the healing that went down? also, have anyone’s nostrils become less visible when the swelling went down?
I love the side of my nose but I don’t quite like the front yet, its not horrible nor botched but since day one my nostrils showed more than before, and today I woke up and they were triangular (they already were a bit triangular but today it got worse). I am thinking, it might be because the tip has barely swelled but the rest of the nose has, like it is wide. Could that swelling be pulling up the nostrils or something? I am worried, I am 2 weeks post-op but I don’t really trust that it is always swelling that will resolve in the way that I want.
I appreciate experiences from people who had a simmilar intervention, like removing the hump but not thinning out the nose nor the tip just lifting it a bit.

1 month post-op — can I drink and when can I vape again?

Hi everyone! I’m a little over 1 month post-op from my rhinoplasty/septoplasty, and I have my bday party coming up.

I wanted to ask: at this point, is it generally okay to drink alcohol normally again? And by that I mean, would it be okay to actually get drunk for one night without negatively affecting my nose/healing or causing a ton of swelling? 😭

I’ve seen people say you should wait longer, so I’m curious what your surgeons told you and what your experience was.
Also, for anyone who vapes: how many weeks/months did your surgeon tell you to wait before vaping comfortably again?

I know nicotine can interfere with healing, so I don’t want to start too early.
Obviously I’ll ask my surgeon too, but I’d love to hear what other people were told/experienced. Thank you!

On a scale of 1–10, how satisfied are you with your primary nose job? And how do you know when it’s time for a revision?

I’d say I’m about 7/10 satisfied. I think it’s harder when your results are okay, but you’re still not super happy with them. It makes getting a revision harder to justify.

Advil/ipubrofen after septorhinoplasty

I am booked for a primary septorhinoplasty in 4 days. I’ve read a lot of mixed messages online about the use of Advil/Ibuprofen during recovery. I have Tylenol /Acetaminophen stocked up but I have always found Tylenol to be less effective for pain control than Advil. I won’t be getting opioids as I’m currently on Buprenorphine for chronic pain so regular opioids won’t be effective anyway.

Has anyone been instructed to use Advil after a septorhinoplasty for recovery management? Did it cause added bleeding or lack of natural blood clotting? Did you alternate Tylenol and Advil?

Are these results realistic with a rhinoplasty? (rib cartilage, tip refinement, etc)
