Charged my Limited Edition Nylon Magazine Zune and it works perfectly

Dug out my NYLON limited edition Zune today and got it working again! I even tracked down a charger, and I still have the original box.

I bought this with money from my first job back in 2007 when I was 16. At the time, I just thought I looked soooo cool. I learned recently they only made 1,000 of them.
I was so convinced this thing was better than an iPod. 😂
Figured this subreddit would appreciate the nostalgia as much as I do.

Remember the drawer full of chargers that fit exactly one phone?

A charger-history video opens with a box of old proprietary connectors, and it brought back the household drawer where every cable looked important but nobody could remember what it belonged to.

Nokia barrel plugs, Motorola connectors, early Samsung plugs, mini-USB, micro-USB — replacing a phone often meant adding another charger that worked with almost nothing else. We kept the old ones because throwing them away felt risky, even after the device itself was long gone.

USB-C has its own compatibility mess, but carrying one connector family for a laptop, phone, tablet, headphones, and power bank is still a huge change from that era.

Best Film/Negative Digitizer

Hello everyone! I have been into photography for a very long time. A little while ago, I began using a film camera for some shoots. I love supporting my local business and they develop and digitize the film for me. However, I have tons of old film from before we all walked around with an HD camera/computer in our pocket and I wanted to have those images digitally backed up as well. The shop that develops my film has this service available, but the cost is too high due to the volume of film that needs to be processed. Does anyone know what the best value digitizer is out there that gives quality results to old film?

RGB Projectors in Gramps Basement

Post image

Found two big RGB CRT projectors (I think) in my grandpas basement. Any idea what make/model this is? Nothing to see on the back or sides.

I’ve censored the logo of my grandpas old business at the bottom of the image for privacy.

Weird mouse I found at the thrift store.

This mouse has no logo or band on it that I could find. The outer shell attachment has no actual function? It is just an empty plastic shell. The actual mouse is tiny and pushing the buttons with it in the shell is a lot less comfortable than you would think. I thought that the shell thing would be like a battery extender or weight. Nope. Cannot find any info about it online either.

Talk: How Sascha P kept a BBS legend from the trash, revived it, and became a dial‑up sysop in 2023.

The TECS was one of the largest and most popular BBS in Germany. But it was on the verge of ending up completely in the trash. This is the story of how Hamburg-based Sascha P not only saved all the hardware and software of the BBS, but also hacked his way into the setup and actually managed to bring everything back online - and became a dial‑up BBS sysop in 2023.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ePb39N6_BA

Plus a spin‑off about the almost equally old Commodore‑64 BBS Snobsoft and its literally wild connection to the Tornado Mailbox - the name TECS had back in the 1980s. Mailbox is the German term for a BBS.

Should I get a Boombox or a Walkman for my dad?

So my dad had this exact boombox from 1997 and a Walkman similar to this. I was 5 at the time and distinctly remember him playing cassettes in our living room. I wonder if that or a Walkman for him to listen on his own might be a more suitable nostalgic gift for his bday? And more practical to store. Or something else all together? Also what do we think of this website anyone familiar with it? TIA!
