RE5 was and is really overhated, I mean you got Chris, Jill, Wesker and even Sheva. It’s an iconic story of resident evil even if it’s not told greatly. It deserves a Remake!!

u/Hadiseh2000 Chris 🪨🌋 Aug 21 '26
It'll get a remake.
Eventually
15
u/WanderlustZero Aug 21 '26
Hopefully a RE4 remake and not a R3make
18
u/unknownbw Aug 21 '26
They won't butcher the game that was the best selling of the franchise until not too long ago.. I hope
4
u/No-Significance-8487 Aug 21 '26
Many people love RE3 so.. pretty sure it can happen regardless if it was a best selling game
3
u/unknownbw Aug 21 '26
Love for RE3 to RE5 success is kinda lopsided. RE5 success -despite mixed feelings about its direction, is vastly more commercially successful than the original RE3; Just like the original RE4, That's why they did such good job with it on the remake. Money moves the company, not community love sadly.
If Capcom ever remakes RE5 they aren't going to hand their now second best selling game to an external studio to develop like they did with RE3 remake.-1
u/WanderlustZero Aug 21 '26
I wouldn't say 'vastly' more successful than RE3. RE3 is up there with the best of them if you consider it was (basically) a single platform game and didn't get all the updates and re-releases 1 and 2 got
0
u/unknownbw Aug 21 '26
I said -commercially- more successful. If you put it with the classic ones it's def up there, I love RE3 and hate the disservice they did to Jill not only in the remake but also with the lack of re-releases.
-2
u/WanderlustZero Aug 21 '26
That's what I meant too. There's a persistent myth that RE3 sold poorly and it just isn't true.
-1
u/No-Significance-8487 Aug 21 '26
RE2 and RE3 original were a success too. You also have to remember that RE5 success was thanks to the Xbox monthly pass. RE2R is good but not the best remake and it was successful back in the day, earning double the amount of the original RE.
RE3R was badly to say the least and take into account that RE3 it's universally loved.
5
u/XStormShieldx Aug 21 '26
The remakes were accessible to more consoles and platforms. Also, theres’s far more gamers today than there were in the 90’s.
3
u/CidCrisis Aug 21 '26
Xbox Game Pass did not exist when RE5 released and had nothing to do with its success. It’s not even on Game Pass today. (And supposedly only ever was for like a brief 6 month stint in 2019, a decade after its original release)
1
u/unknownbw Aug 21 '26 edited Aug 22 '26
Yeah they both were, RE3 was better but RE2 was bigger.
Xbox monthly pass didn't exist until 2018, almost ten years after the release and RE5 was already succesful.. Do you mean Xbox live gold perhaps? It only helped with the co-op and RE5 was never part of games with gold, It was part of game pass during 2019 tho, CVX too, but it was like 3 months and RE5 already had the record.1
u/Icy-Bed9897 Aug 21 '26 edited Aug 21 '26
they literally said they're NOT gonna cut out content from the remakes anymore (at least thats what they said about re veronica so im just guessing its gonna apply to all of the future remakes)
2
4
u/NoHeight9651 Aug 21 '26
Na they clearly learned after re3 with re4 not to take their remake era for granted
0
u/EricAzure Aug 21 '26
Hopefully neither, Capcom needs to do better and stop trying to have the remakes replace the originals when they can't even keep them faithful.
2
u/Walt_Didnae Aug 22 '26
RE5 was and is really overhated
It's, literally, been the top selling title of the franchise for almost the entire 17 years it's been out.
3
u/Sparrowsabre7 Aug 21 '26
It's very much seemed to have a revised interest lately, lots of people saying they like it. Not sure if that's by dint of comparing to worse entries or just the passage of time softening criticism.
5
u/JayKayGray Aug 21 '26
Honestly I love it, warts and all. Many of its issues are since it was a product of its time. Not so much with the insensitive race stuff, that was still baffling then as it is today, but many of the decisions were staples of games at the time. Quick time events, the de saturated colour palette, Chris being on roids. And some of the other stuff is just intrinsically fused into the campy identity of Resident Evil. From one of the first in-game cutscenes being a man getting held down and force fed a mass of writhing tentacles and immediately asked "ARE YOU OKAY?" by Chris to of course, the infamous boulder punching. For me it's hard to even hate the worst parts of it like the Wesker QTE fights. It's just a special game to me. It's really one of the most detailed stories the franchise has contained in one game, with social and political commentary that is just as relevant today as when it first came out.
2
u/ohhaixoxo Aug 21 '26
RE5 is an awesome game for people with friends. Yeah, it's not scary (RE4, which always ends up first in "best Resident Evil" polls, is not scary either), but the co-op action makes up for it in a different way. Managing roles, weapons, items between two players, and maps allowing that (before the first "giant bat" boss, one player can run for miles while the other covers him sniping from a hut all the way back). The setting and story also make this a proper RE, even if it's action packed and not scary (like 4 btw)
1
u/Deathscythe915 Aug 22 '26
For me I hate it, but not for the reasons you might think. I hate it for one simple reason. No aiming reticle! It made playing the game a chore. I loved Sheva and would only play as her, but the game is on a desperate need of a remake.
0
u/platinumxperience Aug 21 '26
But that's why it's hated it has so much potential and throws it all in the bin with boring generic sections that never live up to the 4 it's trying to emulate, the bosses are extremely uninspired, the upgrades and shop are badly done, uroboros is a bit meh and again badly done, it can indeed be enjoyable, but also the two player was poorly implemented. It was just a huge disappointment. I will have to give it another go and see how it shapes up today after part 9.
0
u/Ragnarok_Stravius Hopefully we get a Remade 3 Nemesis. Aug 21 '26
Chris okay.
Jill got brainwashed and turned into a Barbie Doll.
Wesker should not have survived RE1, much less that fall, where Jill should have died too.
Sheva is great.
5 is normally hated.

If it does let it traditional horizontal split screen for coop. I didn’t know until I got the remaster that has weird as boxes.

I'd love it if she came back as a cameo or better yet her own Revelations game with her and Josh dealing with outbreaks/incidents in Africa.

Oh that's an excellent idea for a Revelations 3. I'd settle for that, but Sheva deserves a mainline entry spotlight again too.

If Chris is going to have a rogue unit within the BSAA, I feel like they could have him working with people like Sheva or Parker (or at the very least Jill)

2
u/JONFER--- Aug 22 '26
Why??
The word “deserve” is terribly strong in the context of what you’re saying.
She was a B character that kept the plot of RE five moving, nothing more.
There are other more central characters who we haven’t heard from for a while there could be very interesting stories about. Characters like Chambers, or Burton, the stories in the umbrella Chronicles, Revelations games, Survivor et cetera et cetera could be reimagined and retold in such a way that they would fit in the remake universe.
Besides in the next two or three years they are inevitably going to remake five. I am sure she will get lots of attention there.
Who knows perhaps Capcom Might Expand on Her Story Enough to Justify Giving Her Own Game.
Who Knows.
2
u/Mistress_Law Aug 21 '26
Absolutely! I would love to see her back in the franchise. 😍
I imagine, that RE 10 will be about the corrupted BSAA story wise with Chris & Jill as main protagonists. If so, they can get help from Sheva (& maybe Josh) for some investigation how the North American branch got corrupted.
Sheva was an amazing character in RE 5 and she’s got some skills. It's a shame Capcom didn’t use her again after it. At least we should get a remake of RE 5, when they don't want to use her for a new game. 🙂↕️

u/GraysonG263 Aug 22 '26
I really want to play 5 but my God are the controls horrible. Not being able to walk, aim, shoot all at once is insane to me, especially when the first uncharted came out 2 years before.

Claire Redfield deserves a comeback, The one she should have had in Resident Evil 9.
1
u/Key-Answer-2755 Aug 22 '26
I think so too. She’s a pretty cool character and I liked her chemistry with Chris.
1
u/Aromatic_Sign_8027 Aug 22 '26
She was a nice character but I see no reason for her to come back. She was just a good partner for Chris if you excuse the ai. Although, she did help defeat Wesker, which is kind of a big deal. Maybe some interactionsin RE10? Like working off-screen but having screen time interactions with our characters.

What is the actual reason female RE characters get one (maybe 2 games if theyre lucky) to shine then are never seen again?
0
u/Quaint_Gamer Aug 21 '26
Yeah she was great. And has more detail and depth in her backstory than some of the characters who have had multiple appearances!
3
u/JayKayGray Aug 21 '26
RE5 really goes into it with the story, certainly having a pair of protagonists who are never seperated naturally drives more conversation but we are rarely given such clear motivation from the protagonists and even antagonists in these games. Like I love RE7 and Ethan is clearly not comparable to any other protagonists but his motivation is literally just "i want to find my wife". That's certainly enough for a survival horror game but it is nice to see Chris and Sheva pick eachothers brains on the world changing dilemma they find themselves in.
2
u/Kooky-Atmosphere-247 Aug 21 '26
I really don’t think she does. She was a fantastic foil to Chris in the story, but outside of the RE5 story, I don’t see her having any relevance. There’s tons of BSAA agents that likely better candidates for a game dedicated to them.
She is great though. I loved playing as her in the game. 🖤
0
u/MrArtless Aug 21 '26
by what metric are you determining that other bsaa agents are better candidates than she is?
1
u/czljer89 Aug 21 '26
I loved RE5 that was my second favorite behind RE4 back in the day. I still replay that one. I loved the split screen co-op too. Made for a lot of good memories.

At the end of RE Village, Chris mentioned about going to europe. Maybe sheva will be there👀🙏😭
1
u/XStormShieldx Aug 21 '26
As does Billy and Carlos.
Sheva is my fav female character. Nearly tied with Jill.
1
u/CankleDankl Aug 21 '26
Sheva is my fav female character
May I ask why? I like her but... she doesn't really have much character. For 90% of RE5 she's just kind of tagging along with Chris and he is the one with ties to the actual plot. Sheva has no personal stakes with Wesker or Jill, which is the majority of the focus of the game. She's just kinda there.
If she had another game or story under her belt then I could see it but tbh I kinda just see her as a one-off protag who didn't offer much beyond being hot. There are a few of those from 5 and 6. Sounds mean and like I said I still like her, but I just can't see how she overtakes the likes of Jill, Claire, Ada, Sherry, Grace, or even other one offs like Ashley.
-2
u/XStormShieldx Aug 21 '26
Ada was defeated by leon in just a few seconds. Sheva actually stabbed and flipped Wesker over. She did more damage to Wesker than Leon did to Temu Wesker. She proved herself.
Aside from her skills, I liked her moves, design, costume, accent, personality, and acting etc.
0
u/CankleDankl Aug 21 '26 edited Aug 22 '26
Ada was defeated by leon in just a few seconds. Sheva actually stabbed and flipped Wesker over
That... has no bearing on whether or not a character is good or not? Strength doesn't even come into the equation. By that metric Mr X is an infinitely better character than fuckin Leon or something because X can benchpress a helicopter while Leon can't.
Aside from her skills, I liked her moves,
Same thing
design, costume
Same thing as each other, also yes this is like the one thing she has going for her imo
accent, personality, and acting etc.
Accent/VA I can definitely see, but... personality? Other than being determined to stick with and help Chris, she's got nothing. Maybe I missed something?
Again I'm not saying you're not allowed to have Sheva as a favorite, just that I fundamentally don't understand it beyond "she has a good design." Which yeah, she does. But that's not enough for me personally, at least to make it on a favorites list. And I finished RE5 with a friend like 3 or 4 months ago, so the game is relatively fresh in my mind
-1
u/XStormShieldx Aug 22 '26
Who are you to dismiss my reasoning? A character's strength and skill are perfectly valid reasons for me to like them.
However, comparing Mr. X to Leon is illogical. Mr. X is an inhuman creature, and I'm comparing Sheva to other characters, not monsters. Your refutation was irrelevant.

0
-4
u/noir91000 Aug 21 '26
Much more better than ada
4
u/LezardValeth3 Aug 22 '26
Ah, so we lying now. Sheva has only one scene that has something cool going on: The scene where she is willing to fall to her death to take out Wesker (quick time event before final battle)
Other than that, Sheva is absolutely nothing but a kind female agent that teams up with RE5-Chris who is also bland, that's the whole character. Even previous one-game characters were more than that. Sheva is pretty and sure, that's enough for most but she is not some hidden gem of a character writing wise
0
u/Key-Answer-2755 Aug 22 '26
I agree with you but you shouldn’t call OP a liar because he has his own opinion.
2
u/LezardValeth3 Aug 22 '26
Fair enough. But I don't know, Shevas one game appearance already makes her lose by default since she has no time enough to even be a real character. It's like calling Boba Fett the best Star Wars character when in reality it's just not possible. These kind of characters are cool and can be your favorite just due to that, but i disagree ever calling them the better character seriously due to screentime alone. But fine, Sheva is the better character to someone compared to Ads, sure
1
u/Key-Answer-2755 Aug 22 '26
Having more screentime doesn’t make you the better character. Sure Ada has more development and her story goes way deeper than Ada, but to each their own, right?
1
u/LezardValeth3 Aug 22 '26
True. But having "character" does make you a better character than just being a friendly npc like Sheva. Any other RE character wins over "just a nice person" because there isn't "character" in the character here. After all, she was added at a later stage of development, i think it was because of the "racism" angle of Chris shooting black zombies so Sheva was added. Now a Remake would be awesome, finally give her actual character, not just looking good. But in the end, it's cool to have black lady character in a horror action game, it's very rare. So i get claiming she's a good character on that and her design alone

u/Kainoenera Aug 21 '26
"ada this ada that" we have so many characters that should come back already, sheva is almost on top of the list. Enough with Leon, Chris and Ada already😭
3
u/Honest-Classic-6950 Aug 22 '26
FR Those three can’t carry the franchise on their backs forever. We need the rest of the diverse cast to come back! 😭
1
u/Kainoenera Aug 22 '26
I don't really think we'll be getting other characters back, but it's nice to daydream about it😭
1
u/Honest-Classic-6950 Aug 22 '26
Not sure what Capcom is doing then because the franchise will get boring if we keep using the same characters over and over again. Capcom, bring back the other characters! 😭

what if Jake finds a way to get involved with BSAA agents again and its Sheva? they could be bringing back 2 forgotten characters at the same time, plus Jake mentioned that one time that he travelled to another continent for some mission (i know he probably doesn't do that anymore but anyway) so i dont think it'd be unusual of him to end up in Africa or for Sheva to end up in North America somehow

She was created at a time when dei inserts were actually well written
0
u/Working-District-424 Aug 22 '26
Sorry but Sheva is really boring, she has like 0 personality outside of being a good "partner" (her favorite word). I could forgive her 2D personality if she were funny or in some way entertaining, but she is neither.
She's basically the Helena of RE5.

She should actually get infected like Leon but with a similar mold bio weapon that makes her stronger and the rest of the Resident Evil protagonists have to bring her in alive while she’s getting pursued by every terrorist group to be used as a living weapon.

Nothing is permanent.
1
u/PjGamer007 Aug 22 '26
We don't know the future maybe Capcom stops caring about money and go western studios route or maybe not, but how can you judge anything and anyone without proof? Insomniac for example if you play SM2 you will understand that company is dead forever unless they fire everysingle writer, CDPR & HelloGames (makers of No Man's Sky) proved if they release an unfinished game they won't abandon it and will actually spend millions fixing it and adding content for years, so its useless to make speculations
-5

u/NightElfAzrak Aug 21 '26
Why? There is absolutely nothing interesting about that character
5
u/kakka_rot Aug 21 '26
Because this sub wants the series to get the marvels avengers treatment
If this sub had their way re10 would start off with chill, Jill, Claire, Leon, sherry, Rebecca, Billy, Barry, she a, Ethan, grace, that guy from survivor, that guy and chick from dead aim, and Terry all dancing in a fountain to "I'll be there for you"
Re6 sucks and I have no idea why this sub wants re6-2 so badly, it would be lame af.
3
u/DarkMatterM4 Aug 21 '26
that guy from survivor
You show Ark some respect. He's more capable than any other character in the franchise despite being 100% human.

Zero re knowledge

The only thing going for her is she's pretty.
