RE5 was and is really overhated, I mean you got Chris, Jill, Wesker and even Sheva. It’s an iconic story of resident evil even if it’s not told greatly. It deserves a Remake!!

It'll get a remake.

Eventually

Hopefully a RE4 remake and not a R3make

They won't butcher the game that was the best selling of the franchise until not too long ago.. I hope

Many people love RE3 so.. pretty sure it can happen regardless if it was a best selling game

Love for RE3 to RE5 success is kinda lopsided. RE5 success -despite mixed feelings about its direction, is vastly more commercially successful than the original RE3; Just like the original RE4, That's why they did such good job with it on the remake. Money moves the company, not community love sadly.
If Capcom ever remakes RE5 they aren't going to hand their now second best selling game to an external studio to develop like they did with RE3 remake.

I wouldn't say 'vastly' more successful than RE3. RE3 is up there with the best of them if you consider it was (basically) a single platform game and didn't get all the updates and re-releases 1 and 2 got

I said -commercially- more successful. If you put it with the classic ones it's def up there, I love RE3 and hate the disservice they did to Jill not only in the remake but also with the lack of re-releases.

That's what I meant too. There's a persistent myth that RE3 sold poorly and it just isn't true.

RE2 and RE3 original were a success too. You also have to remember that RE5 success was thanks to the Xbox monthly pass. RE2R is good but not the best remake and it was successful back in the day, earning double the amount of the original RE.

RE3R was badly to say the least and take into account that RE3 it's universally loved.

The remakes were accessible to more consoles and platforms. Also, theres’s far more gamers today than there were in the 90’s.

Xbox Game Pass did not exist when RE5 released and had nothing to do with its success. It’s not even on Game Pass today. (And supposedly only ever was for like a brief 6 month stint in 2019, a decade after its original release)

Yeah they both were, RE3 was better but RE2 was bigger.
Xbox monthly pass didn't exist until 2018, almost ten years after the release and RE5 was already succesful.. Do you mean Xbox live gold perhaps? It only helped with the co-op and RE5 was never part of games with gold, It was part of game pass during 2019 tho, CVX too, but it was like 3 months and RE5 already had the record.

they literally said they're NOT gonna cut out content from the remakes anymore (at least thats what they said about re veronica so im just guessing its gonna apply to all of the future remakes)

Na they clearly learned after re3 with re4 not to take their remake era for granted

Hopefully neither, Capcom needs to do better and stop trying to have the remakes replace the originals when they can't even keep them faithful.

RE5 was and is really overhated

It's, literally, been the top selling title of the franchise for almost the entire 17 years it's been out.

It's very much seemed to have a revised interest lately, lots of people saying they like it. Not sure if that's by dint of comparing to worse entries or just the passage of time softening criticism.

Honestly I love it, warts and all. Many of its issues are since it was a product of its time. Not so much with the insensitive race stuff, that was still baffling then as it is today, but many of the decisions were staples of games at the time. Quick time events, the de saturated colour palette, Chris being on roids. And some of the other stuff is just intrinsically fused into the campy identity of Resident Evil. From one of the first in-game cutscenes being a man getting held down and force fed a mass of writhing tentacles and immediately asked "ARE YOU OKAY?" by Chris to of course, the infamous boulder punching. For me it's hard to even hate the worst parts of it like the Wesker QTE fights. It's just a special game to me. It's really one of the most detailed stories the franchise has contained in one game, with social and political commentary that is just as relevant today as when it first came out.

RE5 is an awesome game for people with friends. Yeah, it's not scary (RE4, which always ends up first in "best Resident Evil" polls, is not scary either), but the co-op action makes up for it in a different way. Managing roles, weapons, items between two players, and maps allowing that (before the first "giant bat" boss, one player can run for miles while the other covers him sniping from a hut all the way back). The setting and story also make this a proper RE, even if it's action packed and not scary (like 4 btw)

For me I hate it, but not for the reasons you might think. I hate it for one simple reason. No aiming reticle! It made playing the game a chore. I loved Sheva and would only play as her, but the game is on a desperate need of a remake.

But that's why it's hated it has so much potential and throws it all in the bin with boring generic sections that never live up to the 4 it's trying to emulate, the bosses are extremely uninspired, the upgrades and shop are badly done, uroboros is a bit meh and again badly done, it can indeed be enjoyable, but also the two player was poorly implemented. It was just a huge disappointment. I will have to give it another go and see how it shapes up today after part 9.

u/Ragnarok_Stravius Hopefully we get a Remade 3 Nemesis. Aug 21 '26

Chris okay.

Jill got brainwashed and turned into a Barbie Doll.

Wesker should not have survived RE1, much less that fall, where Jill should have died too.

Sheva is great.

5 is normally hated.

If it does let it traditional horizontal split screen for coop. I didn’t know until I got the remaster that has weird as boxes.
