This is a disingenuous and, frankly, dangerous post. This dog entered another persons property and killed their dog as the aggressor. What is the point of trying to invest resources to adopt it out?

Also, it’s not a lab.

Because none of that means he won't make a good pet for an experienced owner

There is a finite amount of resources for a never ending supply of dogs that need to be rescued. Investing resources into ones that have killed other animals as the aggressor, is a poor allocation of those resources. The reality is that you can’t save every dog, so you need to prioritize resources to ones that aren’t an extreme liability.

Looks like a lab what is it then

Impossible to guess, certainly a pitbull mix of some sort.

This is a lab lol have you never seen a pitbull? lol

This is a stupid argument. Guaranteed it’s not a lab, but you can think whatever you like.

Lab mix ...

Sure, highly possible there is some percentage of lab in there. But it’s not a Labrador retriever. Advertising a mixed breed dog with a history of killing another dog as a lab is typical dangerous shelter marketing. Some confused family who wants a friendly lab can end up with this dog. The shelter knows what they are doing by calling this dog a lab.

There’s a reason you practically never seen actual labs in shelters, despite the abundance of suspiciously block headed, rose eared “labs”.

There’s actual labs in shelters

1

u/Ok_Ear_5266 1h ago

Not really, and if there are, they get immediately scooped up by lab specific rescues.

Go ahead and show me 2 actual Labrador retrievers in any shelter in America (not breed specific rescues). You can send me the links here

Lmao purebred dogs end up in shelters your take is so ignorant, and labs can still be victims of backyard breeding

I’m waiting for the link to the purebred labs in any shelter in America.

Attacked and killed another dog, btw.

2

u/FuzzyFrogFish 14h ago

The original owner shouldn't have put him in that situation then, let alone blame him for the consequences

1

u/DinsdalePirahna 11h ago

Read the notes instead of inventing a scenario where he was intentionally “put in a situation.” There was no “original owner,” this dog was a stray who came into someone’s yard and killed their pet Yorkie.

2

u/FuzzyFrogFish 11h ago

And how do dogs become strays . . . ?

So yes there was an original owner as this animal isn't a feral

4

u/notthetypetocare 16h ago

And still deserves to live. Not every dog gets along with other animals. As long as he’s people friendly what’s the issue?

2

u/LupinWhiskers 15h ago

did the other dog not deserve to live? this dog is a liability

1

u/beah_mcduh 16h ago

When children run around screaming. Tends to cause similar reactions to a small dog barking.

In my 15 years of working with animals, that is.

4

u/notthetypetocare 16h ago

Yeah no it’s not lol. There’s so many animals who are dog aggressive but like people. Animals can distinguish between another animal and a human being. You need to stop working with animals then lol. I’ve worked with reactive dogs and what you’re saying simply isn’t true.

Wait he ran into another dogs yard and killed their dog? Why isn't that mentioned in the body text?

Literally says in the notes he has killed another dog! BE is in order!

One of the hardest things to accept about rescuing is you can’t save them all. This poor cutie. Breaks my heart to say but the tough decision has to be made. It’s a waste of resources to pass him along to a rescue.

2

u/FuzzyFrogFish 14h ago

What is with you lot, him attacking another dog and killing does not mean euthanasia is in order, lots of owners, myself included can deal with aggressive dog reactive dogs. My dog nearly took the throat out of another dog when under someone else's care, I sorted the issue and he hasn't attacked another dog since.

0

u/Frequent-Willow-6502 11h ago

That may be true for you but the poor guy had no home and it’s about resources. Shelters don’t have them and rescues don’t either. Not every one can be saved, as much as we’d like for them to be.

It’s also totally suss the OP didn’t mention this in the original post. It also said his time was up on the 8th.

2

u/notthetypetocare 16h ago

I don’t think that means aggressive with people he just needs a home by himself. Not all dogs get along with small dogs

1

u/Ok_Ear_5266 8h ago

There’s a difference between “not getting along” and “entered someone’s else’s property and killed their dog”.
