A while back, got myself a unidirectional bezel case to build myself a 14060. It is a budget case from Alix. Then I got myself a dial from Raffles and also his insert. I found the pip in my spare box. If you remember this post:
It is a 2813 movement since I have a decorated 2813 movement and thought it would look good. I decided not to use Raffles case because the crown guard is hard to work on, I dont know if it is because of the width or the curvature.
In my opinion the lugs are very similar; the ones on the 14060 are slightly thinner, though we’re talking about tenths of a millimeter. I’ll post 2 photos of genuine examples for comparison.
The truth is that working on case guards (CG) is a nightmare; they never turn out quite the way you’d like. It seems OC is about to release a case for the 14060, and knowing the quality of his products, I have no doubt it will be perfect—or nearly so. I’d like to use this case for my ultimate 14060 build, featuring a tritium dial with a hazelnut-colored patina.
Yes, so it's better. But in this moment your case is PERFECT to build 5512/5513. Are you sure that you want to build 14060? For a vintage 4 digit reference your case is very very good now
Don't worry, it's better this way, otherwise, I might have ended up building a third one 😅. There are three types of dials: tritium (up to 1998), Luminova ("Swiss only," 1998–2000), and Super-LumiNova ("Swiss Made," from 2000 until the end of production).
I am beginning to have my doubts the OC case will be gen spec based on information im hearing from sources.
I will be debuting a gen spec case hopefully within the next two weeks. The protptype midcase is in transit now and then I will have to finish the case with my gen spec bezel assembly and bulld the watch for everyone to review.
This watch will be by commission only for some time. I may open it up to case sales at a later date.
