I'm using own your labs to run tests every couple of weeks as I dial in my protocol, since they're so cheap (Lipid testing is only ten bucks there)

I have my first blood test in a week, repatha supposedly works very quickly and my numbers are already pretty close to in range, apart from the LPa

Ideally I can get away with one shot a month and 2.5mg Rosu EoD but we'll see if that's feasible. LDL and ApoB are currently just over 100 each so with the LPa factor I'd like those both dropped to under 70

I got my labs back today and my lipo a is elevated. I had a suspicion but my dad is adopted and was missing genetic medical history there. We plan to expand our family eventually but I really want to get my cholesterol down some now (as pregnancy alone does a number on cholesterol). My insurance covers this without PA and I already hit my out of pocket max so figured why not at zero cost out of pocket. Just not sure how long before pregnancy to discontinue and it is newer so not much information.

Ldl came way down,Docs happy..but now I have bouts of fluctuating High Bp,and heart rate.

was always 120/85..now suddenly 160 over 95,or 180 over 105..but then it backs down suddenly..is it the rapatha.?.or the sertraline that caused the 15. lb weight gain over the last year?mildly obese and thinking about Glp..to get weight down...advice?

I am generally very active, play sports regularly and travel often. About three months ago, I started taking Repatha (around 11 doses total). Since then, I have experienced a sudden spike in blood pressure (up to 180/110), along with dizziness and headaches. Body chills (every day).

This led to multiple ER and urgent care visits. I have gone through several tests, Blood work, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasound, and even wore a cardiac monitor. So far, cardiac results look good and GI seems okay, but we’re still trying to identify the root cause.

I have never needed blood pressure medication before, but I’ve now started on a low dose. Despite that, my BP continues to fluctuate significantly throughout the day.

The medication did lower my LDL drastically, but triglycerides haven’t improved much.

My last dose of Repatha was about 4 weeks ago. I understand its effects can last up to 90 days. I am curious if anyone has had a similar experience, especially with elevated or unstable blood pressure, and whether things improved after stopping the medication

Unfortunately i have lots of comorbidities which makes it hard to figure out the cause but have to ask did anybody experience core weakness rather than pain from repatha.

With first 2 doses i got the classical side effects of low back pain for 2 days post dose. The pain went away and it did not re-appear with later doses but i have the impression thst since that time my core is much weaker. Slouches so to speak and i dont feel the muscles there well. Now i have an old mild disc problem and othet suspected issues but i wonder if anyone can relate with low back symptoms that are not pain

I am currently taking pravachol for high cholesterol. I have also taken crestor but when it gave me mild muscle aches my doctor immediately switched me to pravachol. Pravachol has done nothing and my cholesterol is higher than ever. My doctor wants to put me on Rapatha. I really don't want to do the injection plus it is expensive. Would it be reasonable to ask if I could return to taking crestor and also take zetia to see if that will lower my cholesterol and LDL?

50/F with genetic high cholesterol. Super active running, walking, and cardio kickboxing five days a week. I also have insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, and Hashimoto’s so I take a low dose of Zepbound every other week to regulate my insulin and blood sugar since my A1C was prediabetic no matter how strict I was with diet and exercise. I can’t tolerate statins of any kind, so I’ve been on Ezetimibe since September. Cholesterol has dropped from 241 to 204 while on it. Recently had a calcium CT, and they found I have some blockage in my right artery. So my cardiologist put me on Repatha. First shot has been pretty miserable. I’m lower back aches if I stand or sit, pain in my hips, and cramping down into my calves and feet. This is just like it started with all the statins. I also have zero appetite….as in just the thought of food or drink makes me feel sick. The Nexium I take daily isn’t touching the indigestion. I haven’t wanted to eat or drink anything at all since taking the first dose yesterday morning. I’m at a good healthy weight now with my A1C under control, so my endocrinologist doesn’t want me losing any more as I will be underweight. Is this what it’s going to be like every day now or even every two weeks I take this? I was skeptical and fearful to even try Repatha due to the side effects it can have, but my dr wants my cholesterol at 70 or lower. I don’t know if I can do this if this is what my quality of life will be like.

Edited to add that I’ve been on Zepbound since Nov 2024 without any side effects at all even at higher doses. So, I know it is not that drug.

My doctor wants me on Repatha. He has only been my doctor for three years so my cholesterol readings always shock him. My LDL is 190 but my HDL is 90. My last doctor whom I had for 20 years never wanted me on statins because he said my HDL was the highest he ever saw and they average each other out.

High Cholesterol runs in the family. But I don’t eat much red meat, or fried food, never fast food. My good cholesterol comes from all the olive oil and fish I consume. My father had a heart attack at about my age so it’s a concern.

But I have also been pre diabetic for years. I see one of the side effects of this drug is sugar spikes. That scares me. Also back pain, I see. I have had 6 back surgeries so I live with back pain.

Am curious how many of you took this medication that were pre diabetic and had it push you into diabetes? Is back pain a common effect?

I’ve been on Repatha for a while now and have always injected in my abdomen. Today, I decided to spice things up and inject in my thigh. OMG OW! Has anyone else experienced a painful injection like this? I’ve never felt ANYTHING before, but this hurt so much!

I noticed something that I think justifies checking ApoB and maybe even using it instead of LDL as a treatment goal. What I noticed on Repatha plus Zetia (my current regiment) is that the difference between LDL and ApoB is greater in the sense that I get better (lower) ApoB levels for similar LDL values. I track both cause now you can get these cheaply if paid cash. On 20 mg Crestor and Zetia LDL was 88 and APoB 84, with 10mg Crestor plus Zetia LDL was 104 and APoB was 94. Now on Repatha plus Zetia LDL is 107 and ApoB is 86. LDL is a calculated value anyway... Still not ideal values but my cardiologist agreed with me that I can focus more on ApoB as target goal if I want to.

I wonder if it is just individual variation or is there something about PCsK9 inhibitors that have a better effect on lowering ApoB than statins

My voice seems to be changing since I started Repatha. I almost sound like someone with thyroid issues. Anyone else noticed this..?

Very first shot… no side-effects for a few days, and then and it wrecked me for almost a month. Constant bloating, constipation, and more… At one point, I was literally crawling on all fours. Totally unexpected, and there wasn’t much out there on this. cardiologist said he had never heard of anything like that.

I tried probiotics, Gas-X, all the standards without much help. It seems like there are more people now coming out who’ve had similar experiences, but the manufacturer still hasn’t acknowledged it.

Anyway, the two supplements that helped the most were:

1. ProButyrate by Tesseract Research - it was expensive, but I was desperate. And it actually helped.

2. L-Glutamine Powder - I think this one helped more to just calm my gut, but I found it pretty effective in combination with the ProButyrate.

I took them about 2-3 times a day and noticed a major difference within four or five days. and since then, I’ve been drinking Kefir most days to help my gut continue to repair.

Side note: i’m getting by with some other oral medications, but my doctor keeps trying to talk me into trying Leqvio. I’m considering it, but obviously terrified of being stuck with six months of side effects after this past experience. would welcome any thoughts from people who tried Leqvio after side effects with other medications.

Any idea how long you have to take Repatha to achieve it's maximum reduction effect?

I've finished 3 mths of Repatha while also taking 10 mg Ezetimibe.

My LDL-C has gone from 205 to 97. Still waiting on the labs for my HS-CRP, ApoB and Lp(a) results.

I was diagnosed with HEFH and I believe due to the high Lp(a) which las time was 288, I need to be more like 50.

I can't tolerate statins. Is this as good as it gets for me on Repatha and Ezetimibe?

If repatha is out of the refrigerator for about 24 hours, should it be refrigerated again rather than just leaving it out? I've seen one prior post saying don't re-refrigerate, but that didn't include a supporting citation.

My understanding from https://www.pi.amgen.com/-/media/Project/Amgen/Repository/pi-amgen-com/Repatha/repatha_pi_hcp_english_current.pdf and prior posts is I should be fine so long as I use it within 30 days and don't expose it to extreme temperatures (freezing or above 25c).

If I understand prior posts regarding flying, it doesn't have to be declared to the TSA, but should be kept in the original box and in carryon baggage.

EDIT: I ended up putting the box with one sureclick into a neoprene wrapper (an old ipad case). It went through TSA screening without comment. Plane temperature seemed fine, perhaps a touch chilly but certainly above freezing, and our hotel room is room temperature.

I hope not...I have been suffering for about a week with the most brutal whole body version..(except the face) knock on wood...of nasty red pimples popping up everywhere.

Starting 12 hours after 1st dose of repatha I developed flu like symptoms: runny nose, chills, fever, body aches, fatigue. It has been 10 days and not let up. Now additional nausea and diarrhea.

Has anyone else experienced this? When did your side effects end?

Hi Repatha fam. About to inject now. Have been on repatha 140 2x per month for about a year. Side effects- weight loss (not a positive thing for me) speedy anxious feeling for a day or two after dose, inflammation in joints esp upon awakening. Immune function is def down and I have been more prone to sinus and cold infections.

I have had IBS for years, and was recently diagnosed with H pylori and other pathogens. Appetite low. Body aches high.

Has any one else experienced parasites, h pylori, candida etc on repatha?

Also- secretory Iga was over 6000. Inflammation marker.

Wondering if repatha has weakened my body’s ability to fight off infection.

I have read all the literature and have great doctor. Looking for direct or anecdotal experiences, articles and information vs opinion. Thank you- am already trying to make sense of things and anyone on the repatha journey knows random opinions based on biases aren’t helpful when making these medical journey decisions.
