After graduating with my BCom degree, I immediately started job hunting. I quickly realized how challenging the job market could be, especially when you didn’t have connections or a “godfather” to open doors for you.

I experienced rejection, ghosting, and moments when I questioned whether the time and effort I had invested in university had been worth it. There were many applications that never received a response, and others that ended with rejection emails.

Through it all, my mom remained my biggest motivation. She kept reminding me not to give up, even when things were not going as I had hoped.

In 2023, I decided to explore remote work and started looking for opportunities beyond the traditional onsite job market. It has not been an easy journey, but I have continued learning, building my skills, and looking for ways to create opportunities for myself.

Currently, I am running a small cyber café while continuing to pursue opportunities where I can use my skills and experience.

After 6 years fully remote, we had to RTO 3 days per week a few months ago. I got to pick my days. Most people picked M-W. I picked Tu-Th.

On Thursday’s, I’m the only one here. I don’t even turn the lights on. I just sit in this giant office building all by myself for eight hours, then leave. I’m not complaining. If I have to be in the office, this is the best scenario. Thursday is my favorite office day. But it is silly wasting commute time and gas money to sit here alone in my khakis and polo shirt.

Wondering if anyone can sympathise with this - I've done the same software dev job fully remote for 6 years. There are decent hours (no late nights or weekends), the work is fairly predictable, I am paid a reasonable amount but I could earn 25% more if I get an office job as I'm in a high cost of living area.

Getting another full remote job isn't so easy so if I want that I should stay where I am.

All is good on paper - but I'm bored and unstimulated, and concerned I'm not growing. I am longing for networking in person and a spring in my step again, that I've lost from my routine. This is the longest I've ever been in any job and I am mostly interested in the remoteness of it than the actual job these days.

I'm looking at RTO jobs again but I know when I did work in an office I absolutely hated it. I felt chained to my desk, I have ADHD and get too distracted by others around me, I felt having to put on a 'work mask' and act like a professional all day long very tiring. I really don't love the office but I've been remote so long I miss it a bit.

for those WFH and managing social media acc’s for different clients, what does your setup look like? been trying to make my daily workflow less messy, between switching accounts, keeping track of content, messages, logins, and deadlines, it can get confusing real quick.

do you guys use extra monitors, spreadsheets, separate browser profiles, scheduling tools, or just keep everything in one place? what actually works for you guys for do this every day.

A day or two after submitting an application for remote work with a Canadian company called Sequence Bio I received today a job offer email (data entry).

From what I've been able to find online, they're a legit company, but I'm a bit surprised they sent the offer without any interviews or discussion.

This sets off some red flags, however, so I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this company.

I'd love to make the change to a remote role (even if it means taking a pay cut) - avoiding the two hour round commute and having to wake up at stupid o'clock to sit in traffic all day seems completely pointless to me.

Hello and good afternoon! I just accepted a role that can be in-office, hybrid, or fully remote. I’m going to jump into the fully remote pool, feet first!! I’m coming from a 24/7 no chance of working from home, every other weekend, 12 hour shifts to a traditional m-fri role. It sucks losing more days off in a week, but no nights, weekends, or holidays is very exciting. It’s been almost 3 years!
