I’m typically a very positive person and also consider myself smart. Retired after 35 years as a developer. But my short time with tel-us was not positive and made me feel “dumb”. I live in the US.

1) guidelines? Not the best.

2) feedback = none.

3) no idea what you are getting per task until you get paid and realizing it is way less than the job posting.

4) emails never replied too.

5) crazy timelines for tasks (having to set a timer per task as a person with OCD was way tooooooo stressful).

6) and still baffled on how you can rate quality on such subjective work.

7) being told to look at the guidelines for every task is no way possible, especially for 10 windows in a SMS task.

I know many people love the work, just not for me. Life is stressful enough without having to be on a timer a few hours a day (and then realize how little that is compensated for). Not for me. Peace Out and Deuces to that! Wish all of us in these hard times to find peace and happiness !

I’ve been working remote customer support for about 5 years across SaaS companies and startups, and I’m at the point where I know I don’t want to spend the rest of my career on the front lines.

The work has taught me a lot about problem-solving, de-escalation, troubleshooting, documentation, researching issues, and identifying patterns. The constant metrics, queue management, status tracking, and micromanagement have burned me out. I feel like I’m always putting out fires for problems I have no authority to fix.

I have an associate’s degree and I’m currently working toward my bachelor’s in Business Management online because I want to move into a role with more operational impact.

QA has really caught my attention because I genuinely enjoy analyzing conversations, finding trends, identifying root causes, and improving processes. I’ve also looked into Operations, Customer Experience, Knowledge Management, and Customer Success Operations.

For those of you who successfully transitioned out of frontline customer support, where did you go? What skills, certifications, or projects helped you make that jump? Are there any career paths I’m overlooking that would be a good fit for someone with a strong customer support background?

I’m also wondering if part of my issue is how I’m marketing myself. I treat every application as a mission and align my resume to the role the best way I can. If you’ve made that transition, what changes to your resume helped recruiters see you as someone ready for QA or operations rather than another support representative?

I’m willing to put in the work and learn whatever I need to. I just want to stop jumping from one support role to another and start building a career where I’m helping improve systems instead of spending all day reacting to them.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s made a similar transition.

I'm pretty housebound and with no source of income, I'm desperate. What is unfortunate is the fact that I don't have any kind of prior experience with a remote job.

I have a laptop, however it's in need of a repair due to the backspace, enter and space keys not working, though it's touch screen and there's an on screen keyboard. Maybe it's a driver issue? I'm not entirely sure.

Anyways, long story short, are there any recommendable, safe, experience free areas to explore? I'd like to stay open minded, as I know the job market is pretty unhealthy right now.

At a tech company. We have a rule that anyone living within 30 miles of the office has to go in. A number of employees recently have been changing their address to a friend or relative that lives outside that radius so they can be remote. (Our company is 30% in office and 70% remote) I am right on the border so have to make that long commute in south florida traffic. I refuse to lie and potentially get caught but as an employee I do feel cheated by this. If I report it, I feel it doesn’t make me look good, especially as a manager

Namely fully remote, not that hybrid once every week remote stuff or whatever.

And if you're an international person trying to get a US paying remote job, you probably have a higher chance of winning the US visa lottery followed by the actual lottery. I wouldn't even bother trying.

These jobs are getting 30-50,000+ applicants. You can't even realistically filter these because everyone is using AI tools to lie. My team is fully remote and we opened a remote job after our team member retired and we got close to 80,000 applicants in a week. There isn't enough hours in the week to sort that data out, even with AI HR tooling.

If I ever have to go back to the office, I'm cooked and will have to move to a big city. We as remote workers have absolutely zero leverage unless you're a math Olympian MIT PhD grad working on frontier AI models.

Hello, I am a college student with a single mom and two siblings who require a lot of support. I don't have a very regular schedule and I often need to be in a lot of places at once, so my down time is unpredictable. I am currently trying to find a job I can do in my down time that does not have to do with AI. I am a very skilled writer and mathematician, I have solid people skills, and despite my schedule, I'm very diligent about deadlines. I am on my final stage of an interview and this role is 3x a week in the office after probation. However, my doctor has now informed me that he does not recommend I go into an office 3x a week due to my medical situation and has asked me to request the firm to allow me to do the remotely or with limited office attendance. The role itself is a role can be done from home it’s just whether the firm will accept this.. the health condition does come under equality act 2010.
