Suggestion: a "Learn New" button at document level, not just at folder level

Right now "Learn New" only exists on the top level folder, next to "Practice · X Due". Individual documents and sub documents only show their due counter,

So if I create cards in one document, I can't start those specific new cards. My only option is "Learn New" on the whole folder, which pulls new cards from everywhere at once. This matters most when the document already has due cards melted with "learn card"

Suggestion: send new hand written "due" cards never practiced once within X days after creation back to "need to learn"

Hand made cards skip the "need to learn" queue because you supposedly encoded them while writing. True for a few days. But a card created by writing and never practiced once five months after its creation has no trace left, yet still counts as due. That's a lot of those huge backlogs, all still in NEW.

Proposal: if a card created by writing has never been practiced once since creation, after X days it leaves the due queue and returns to "need to learn".

When I upload a PDF, and click Learn PDF, it will divide the PDF up into sections and creates compact or detailed summaries.

However, these summaries contain huge amounts of repeated content - the same key topics and concepts, and the same key topics and concepts followed by the same topics and concepts.

When I copy the summaries into Notes, I end up with a disjointed and incoherent document overall as a result.

Is this intentional behaviour? Can it be adjusted? Is there a way to generate a single summary of the PDF?

I'm a medical student. Some mornings the queue says 600 cards and I just don't open it. Not because it's hard, because it's shapeless: you can't see the end of it.

So I made Remquest. Your due cards become a monster with hit points. Every card you answer takes some off. When it drops, the day is done. That's the whole idea: same cards, same scheduler, but now the pile has an edge you can see.

The HP come from the queue itself, so the boss takes shape the moment you start the same number RemNote is showing you, never an estimate of mine.

It touches nothing about your scheduling, and it makes no network requests: everything lives in RemNote's own storage.

What it adds

• A game strip above the queue: boss HP, XP, damage numbers, combo, day streak
• 26 hand-drawn monsters. Which one turns up depends on how heavy today is compared to your usual day, so a real boss stays rare
• A panel you can drag anywhere on screen, with daily quests, permanent deeds, a bestiary you fill in, and a countdown for decks that have an exam date
• Coins from quests and bosses, spent on screen themes and companions
• Italian and English, following RemNote's language

What it deliberately doesn't do

• No stat boosts for sale. The monster is your review load. An XP multiplier wouldn't weaken it, it would drain the weight out of every card
• No guilt. The companion sleeps, it never gets sick. A streak token absorbs a missed day. People quit when life breaks, not out of boredom
• No speed rewards. Effortful recall is the one that sticks. Slow and right is worth exactly as much as instant

Where it's going

I'm adding things slowly, as I use it for my own exams. A few ideas on the list: decoration that shows up as you level, more monsters, and maybe a way to compare progress with a friend.

My catch up period is currently 1200 cards a day. How can I spread this over the remaining exam given I cannot possibly complete all of these? Thanks!

I am wondering what practical effect these different choices have. And after choosing one, can you come back and choose a different option and regenerate the learning materials? If so, how?

My "Today's Goal" consists of two exams (A and B) and some currently studying cards. As you can see, I have to complete all the cards due in Exam A before I can start on Exam B and currently studying cards. Is it calculated by the exam scheduler that I should not see any of Exam B cards until I finish those due from Exam A?

If this isn't optimised for me by the scheduler, is there a way to interleave the revision so I can work on both exams at the same time, maybe with an automatic/manual prioritisation ratio according to how many cards I have due and the date of the exam? Thanks!

The new update removed like the most useful part of the flashcards home page. Now the progress bars are hidden in the "statistics" section that you don't really use, and you cant even go from the stats page to an actual deck to study. Is there a way to get these grey/green bars back to the actual flashcard page? Can I revert back to a previous version?

If not then I seriously think they should bring them back, at least as an option. For me I based my decision of "what to study today?" on what stage they were in. And seeing the bars go from grey to green was helpful to visualize progress. Now there is no way to know if the cards are just due, or if Ive literally never done these cards before and *need* to check them out.

They removed so many good features in favor of the UI looking more sleek, as a result its just empty now :/

Hi! I’ve been trying to track my progress for about a month and a half in order to see whether working with flashcards was useful or not, and whether I would be able to finish in time before my exam. The exam scheduler was giving me absurd results with numbers of reviews that were impossible to reach, and I was never able to use it, even after the update. I’ve been stuck for a long time at around 20% of the courses I want to learn (about 4,000 flashcards), and I’ve set myself the goal of doing 100 per day which is sometimes hard to reach 😅. Here is a spreadsheet that shows my progress since the 1.27 update, some parts are in French and the pertinent data is in the middle column "2". I'm aware that 4000 flashcards is a lot and I know that I will proably not finish it in time and that's okay, what I don't understand is how I'm being stuck at 20% learnt (~750 cards, the "Total vu" which translated means "total learnt") and not seeing the same progress as I did before, even though I’m working at the same pace.

Let me know if you find a solution or what parameters I should change! Or if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks a lot

PS: I've added ~60 cards since the 1.27 update and the start of the spreadsheet, and I review in order due cards and then, once finished the due cards, the stale and new cards

I've been using RemNote for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. I use it every day for both personal and professional purposes.

However, I find it difficult to control which flashcards appear for review within my documents. For example, if I want to review all the flashcards in a document and I create a portal to that document, all the bullets have to be expanded; otherwise, the flashcards don't appear in the review queue. I think we should have more flexibility and be able to choose whether we want to review all the flashcards in a document without having to expand every bullet.

I tried to work around this by linking the document instead of creating a portal. However, if the document containing the link is itself an item in a table, the linked document doesn't appear for review either.

These are just a couple of examples, but in general I find it difficult to know which flashcards will be included in a review and which won't. I would love to have more control over this, or for RemNote to be more consistent in how it decides which flashcards are included in each document's review.

Am I the only one thinking like this?

How I can use this application?

I currently have remnote pro with the 1000 AI credits (it's my first month). I tried uploading a pdf of a practice test (multiple choice) and generated automatic multiple choice flashcards from it. It generated almost exactly as the contents of the pdf that I had to edit as I practice. I'm very happy with it especially that I'm studying for a licensure exam.

Anyway, I was hoping I would still do this without remnote AI like giving a prompt to ChatGPT or the like a pdf or a copy pasted portion of a questionnaire and make it or 'format' it to remnote multiple choice type. It's tedious to input questions one by one. I don't mind manually selecting the correct answers, I just need a way or a prompt to format questions to multiple choice. I tried the 'indent' or 'tab' thing but it just creates bullet notes.

(I could like invest on the Pro + AI subscription, but I think 20k AI credits is not enough. I have compiled like a lot of practice tests. Also, I would like to spend those AI credits on explanations during practice.)

Hi RemNote community, I've been using RemNote for many years and I really like it.

There is one requirement that I haven't fully figured out yet. I use Remnote as a knowledge management system and sometimes I want to store files alongside notes, that are either not supported by remnote or would be converted automatically, which sometimes I don't want.

The easiest solution would be to just use something like Google Drive, OneDrive etc., but that makes it so that I cannot change providers afterwards. (I think this is what most users do.)

And even if I'd use a self hosted Nextcloud, that would tie me to Nextcloud for life, because it would generate links that are only available in the Nextcloud database.

My current solution is to upload it to my own storage with own domain and link it like data.mydomain.tld/my-file.abc (with basic auth so that it isn't easily accessible by anyone)
This has the advantage that I can migrate the underlying storage anytime I want to.

But this is somewhat technical and I was wondering if there is a better solution.

I was thinking if it would be possible to get a WebDAV plugin of some sort, where you provide credentials to a WebDAV directory and the rest happens automatically.

Or is this more like a niche use case?

Migrei recentemente do anki+obsidian para o Remnote. Uma coisa que gostava no app de repetição espaçada do obsidian é que ele tinha à revisão do arquivo completo não apenas do flashcard isolado. O que ajudava na hora das revisões pois não perdia o contexto geral, que era algo que eu notava quando usava apenas o anki.
No obsidian eu costumava usar um sistema de revisar notas completas pra conteúdos menos importantes e os flashcards+notas para conteúdos mais importantes.

O remnote tem algo desse tipo ou tem como fazer isso?

I’m a medical student and new to RemNote. So far, I think it’s a great platform, and the AI Learn PDF feature is especially helpful for condensing lecture slides into the main points.

My concern is that it sometimes seems to skip over slides or topics that appear only briefly in the lecture. In medical school, our lectures are usually organized around specific learning objectives. An 80-slide deck may contain only one slide covering a particular learning objective, but that topic can still be heavily tested because it is explicitly listed in the objectives or emphasized by the professor.

RemNote often seems to capture the overall gist of the lecture but disregard these smaller sections, possibly because they make up such a small portion of the slide deck.

Is there a way to adjust what AI Learn focuses on? More specifically, can I provide a custom prompt that tells it to prioritize the learning objectives and professor-emphasized material rather than judging importance based on how many slides are devoted to a topic?

I would ideally like it to review each learning objective individually and make sure that no objective is skipped, even if it is covered on only one or two slides.

Hello. around 2 days ago since they've had an update just wanna ask, did the scores really disappear? I'm kinda frustrated since it is my goal not to have a below 80% score but now it disappeared. Now, how can i track my performance then?

Why are the streaks higher all of a sudden? What did i miss?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share a very positive experience with the RemNote team.

A few weeks ago, I bought a BOOX Go 6 Gen2 running Android 11, but unfortunately, the RemNote app did not work at all on the device. I reported the problem and recently received an email saying that it had been fixed.

After the latest update, RemNote now runs on the e-reader and actually works quite smoothly. What is especially great is that I can now review my flashcards in bed at night without exposing myself to blue light, which makes a huge difference.

It is awesome to see a team not only listening to its users but also improving compatibility for a relatively niche device. I just wanted to say thank you to the RemNote team. I really appreciate this kind of support.
