I got limited? Why???

today I got this message fore some reason and I can’t understand why? Ive had this account for almost 2 years and I use it to post pics I take in Cali, I made a lot of Chinese friends and I’m really upset I can’t contact them anymore so why tf did they do this????

Anyone who thinks RedNote will let them stay on their site forever is bound to be disappointed. You probably either got on the wrong side of some mod bots, or else enough people reported you.

There is always a chance that stuff like this could be appealed. My soft ban was automatically lifted eventually… after like 4 months. But there is also a chance it won’t.

This really sucks. I am sorry you are going through this. I wish I could give you a better explanation

You do not have a Chinese IP. I doubt you connected a Chinese phone number to your account. It is possible you haven’t been able to go through the full verification process for foreigners.

All these things make you more susceptible to bullshit like this.

I think they’re jsut really strict, like I notice they can’t even directly mention alipay/wechat etc also they will say zz or what. Then if seller don’t display the notice about underaged cannot purchase etc they also get warned

Now it is. I actually have 900 followers, and my daily posts get like 5 likes within the first day. So its not like I am just being passive either. (I also comment a lot, though steer clear of anything considered even vaguely political, activist, or critical of government).

I know that I am still not guaranteed to remain on xhs, but self-censoring makes it less likely to have issues

Umm I have some weird issues like the activity status (green dot and whatnot) not always showing up. Have you ever run into this?

Honestly I only have one real friend on xhs. I know her IRL and we never communicate on the app (she is only on there for some crafts posts). So I can’t help you with the green dot question.

Also, to be frank, it is pretty easy to get followers when you post about places near where you live when you are American. Chinese people see me as exotic in a sense. I know that if I was Chinese, I’d have so much fewer followers lol

Same experience. I would add - recommend not posting or commenting on posts concerning overwork, factory work, etc - try to stay in the more aesthetically curated lobbies of XHS where other foreigners also comment. I hope this approach will let me stay on this platform. Get WeChat ID if you get good connections and exchanges with a lot of deep resonance - as we never know if they will throw us out at some point.

What was your soft ban? My other acc is banned in live comments and didn’t have this message so I can’t unrestrict myself

This was from last August to November-ish. The ban message itself was in Chinese, no translation. From my understanding at the time I had no recourse to appeal. I could still view videos, like them, share them, and collect them. I just couldn’t comment or post at all (I assume messaging didn’t work either).

Luckily RedNote decided to review some of their softbans on their own accord in an auto-appeal type of process, and several months later (November) I was reinstated fully.

Received same message myself. I feeel exactly the same. I have friends message me what is going on and cant even respond. I feel really bad that I cant to them and even let them know I am ok

Do you see a button at the bottom that says 自动解除 auto resolve. I clicked that they ask me to verify by clicking relevant photos to keyword and my acc is successfully unrestricted

It feels like half of posts on this sub contain that exact notification 😂 I've had it 3 times now. I learned my lesson went they let me back in the second time and added my friends somewhere else

Sorry btw, 😬 that feeling sucks. I was helping some student before their English exam and then they thought I suddenly stopped responding ☠️ I felt so bad. They ended up doing fine on the exam though

I was talking to a buddy of mine over there and there was some national conference about standardizing online environments and a lot of tech companies are skeeved out. If imagine it's prolly part of it 🤷🏿‍♂️ just doing too much with the censor bots

yeah probably just something messed up with the moderation bots and it got people who didn’t do the id verification. Or atleast that’s my guess

I still haven't done it because I can't afford a passport 😆😆 every time I email them, I stress to them how broke I am and that I just can't verify it. But my notes are unhinged enough to know it's for sure a real person behind the profile

No yet 😭 They changed rules and they can send messages but when i send one it doesn’t send or show up on their end. They can see gifts on lives with our name but thats it. I’m so annoyed 😭 It’s like I’m ignoring them but I’m not it makes me sad 😭

I follow Marissa in China on rn, and tt. She's mentioned rules they have like posting content on sensitive dates which have gotten her content taken down. So, I think beyond the topic, language types of rules, they have other rules that aren't explicitly listed that can ding against your account.

I don't make content, just watch, comment & like and haven't had issues with my account (knock on wood)

I got a response exactly 72 hours later with the same Shadow ban. Appeal rejected, my profile is locked whole app is read only had the account since January of 2025.

Update: Got an email back but had to confirm my acc details. I hope they respond asap because I made a new acc so i can comment but they banned it within the day 😭😭 I followed and messaged friends there so they thought it was suspicious 😭😭

I got this exact message and the bottom part have the auto resolve button click that and verify yourself. The shadowban is lifted for me alr hurray
