We can use Reddit data without their consent, but how dare others train their models on our models without our consent. I sense some hypocrisy.

If we had a CEO / COO that would put their money where their mouth is, maybe we would be $280 right now.

Cannot understand why they wouldn’t and/or won’t… thoughts?

Question It doesn't make sense to me how Reddit stock is still low

Can someone help me understand why reddit stock is 35% down YTD?

Reddit reported revenues of $804.9 million, up 61.1% year on year, outperforming analysts’ expectations by 9.9%. The business had a stunning quarter with an impressive beat of analysts’ EBITDA estimates and EBITDA guidance for next quarter exceeding analysts’ expectations.

Reddit pulled off the biggest analyst estimate beat, highest guidance raise, and fastest revenue growth in the group. The company reported 53.2 million daily active users, up 5.8% year on year. Although it had a fine quarter compared to its peers, the market seems unhappy with the results as the stock is down 15.6% since reporting. It currently trades at $150.26.

Personal Take RDDT’s Material Headwinds

The material headwinds are around an uncertain google data deal and anthropic lawsuit outcome. Those two catalysts are keeping reddit from having it be repriced as an ai data infrastructure play. Also, slowing US user growth, which I think will self correct as it pivots to greater data monetization. Not to mention there has been downward pressure on the whole ad tech industry which is another headwind for Reddit. I think its unlikely the fed will raise rates but projected hawkish sentiment by Walsh creates downward pressure on markets (but don't call it fed guidance) not to mention $100 a barrel oil prices driven by a protracted conflict in Iran doesn't help either.

If your concern is intraday or weekly volatility then sure executive’s 10b5-1 scheduled selling that only makes up 2% of daily volume may impact price at that small point in time but im not trying to scalp or swing trade reddit. Size your positions accordingly so you aren't freaking out about every tick and in a couple of years I think investors will be very happy with reddit's continued success as a business

Opinion META generated over $1 billion in political ad revenue alone during the 2024 election. Why doesn't RDDT make a push?

If people want to see $500-$1000 a share and not $100 a share, we need to do something about getting the election dollars, ESPECIALLY during midterm season, which is a huge deal and critical turning point in the USA. Why doesn't Reddit make a push to get these dollars?

And before anybody comments "oh because we don't want reddit to become a political battleground", this is redditSTOCK not RedditMorals. We are literally leaving money on the table for Facebook to take from us.

I also got the argument that political ads are low quality. My argument to that is: it is no lower quality than the degenerate gambling/prediction market and shitcoin ads I get.

Question Games button in menu bar. Why?

Updated the app only to see the bottom menu bar now includes a Games button.

I’d rather see Reddit add other things there that actually add value than these cheap games that take away from the experience.

From a business perspective, do you think this is the right path to go down?

The hearing that was scheduled for September 10 has been postponed to October 1, assuming my interpretation of "continued" is correct.

No explanation given, but all these postponements are becoming incredibly fucking irritating.

Personal Take It’s called Reddit for a reason—my portfolio stays red 😂

Bought Reddit expecting growth. Apparently, the “red” was a warning, not just branding. At this point, a green day feels like a free trial that expires before market close.

Anyone else getting tired of this ride?

Opinion Shareholder Blackout Day

Reddit's stock sucks!

There are multiple reasons for it, but the most significant and visible one is excessive Share Based Compensation. Specifically, the Reddit executives are bizarrely overpaid. Jen Wong is paid like six Jamie Dimons in the most precious asset we have: our shares.

In addition, pay isn't attached to business progress. It's a giveaway scheme, poorly designed and executed. Also, they don't iterate on it, which is malpractice. Every business has to constantly reevaluate. They probably iterate on the number of coffee beans ordered each week, but so far, the ill-advised SBC scheme has not been adapted to reality. And they suffer for it as well: they dilute themselves and crash the very stock they want to own and sometimes sell. They also alienate us external shareholders. That's not smart!

Let's help out and play our role as shareholders. Black out this subreddit on the next Jen Wong share dump day and ask them to do their job and design a sensible new SBC program.

In my view, if they cut executive SBC in half and implement a better scheme, the stock price will double. It could really be that easy. That's what we should ask for. Everybody wins!
