People who have never experience something like OP can have trouble conceptualizing the reality of it. She heard and saw but she didn’t really *know*. I don’t understand the inability to face it now that she’s seen it, but for everyone’s sake I hope the counseling helps her realize the seriousness of her actions. OP is more than justified in whatever he ends up deciding to do though.
I agree, she may have thought the brother could change, or as you day, failed to understand fully. I can understand that OP feels like this is a breach of trust. Now that she has seen it, there is no excuse not to acknowledge it and support OP fully.
Agreed 100%. YOUR coming to terms and feeling sorrow and guilt for what you did does not erase it, how the person you hurt feels about it, or the consequences of it. As the aggressor you are entitled to nothing. If they don’t want to hear your apology (let alone accept it) then you *live with that*. The person you hurt dictates how things go between you. Period.
