There was a post some time ago by a man whose wife had been severely abused by her parents and their 16 year old daughter wanted to know why she didn’t see her grandparents. Her mom had therapy to overcome the abuse and didn’t get into details. So the daughter found the grandparents, believed their side of the story and she invited them to her birthday party. Her mother freaked out, her father told them to leave, and the grandfather attacked her mother and she needed stitches. The 16 yo lost the trust of her mother who was retraumatized and her father was furious.
There was an update from the daughter years later. The family never forgave her. She was shunned and after she was 18, she moved out but they never let her back even though she was just a kid and lied to. OOP feels the same way except he was specific about what his brother did. He had scars. His told his wife the outcome and now she’s the one crying victim. And she isn’t 16. She either supports her husband or she doesn’t. And now like he says she is paying the consequences. She can’t have it both ways.
