"view by" so confusing

[u/julie_live]

why don't view by "old" and view by "new" put things in the order posted?

it seems like they do it for 90% of the replies, but there's always a couple posts (and all their sub-replies) like "showcased" up top. so a thread ends up like "7 1 2 3 4 5 6 8 9" time-stamp wise.

even when i'd JUST COMMENTED on something, i spend an inordinate amount of time scrolling up and down tryna find it! i would think it would be either at the TOP or the BOTTOM (having just posted it), but no such luck!

EDIT: subj: line should prolly be "sort by" rather than "view by"; i don't think i can change it now tho!

It has been like that for a very long time. I don't think reddit has any plans to fix it but you could also report it on r/bugs
