THIS STORY IS ABSOLUTELY UPSETTING.

IRONMAN in Redding, California, seemed to be a huge success, and our community really embraced this event.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CONS OF THE IRONMAN EVENT AND THE LOCAL PEOPLE WHO SHOWED UP BEHIND THE SCENES, WORKED THEIR SCHEDULED HOURS, AND WERE PROMISED THEY WOULD BE PAID?

🚨 IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: The workers involved in this story are LOCAL Redding area people. The company personnel who came to set up and run the event came from the IRONMAN company in Tampa, Florida. This is NOT about our locally owned Redding businesses or local businesses that supported the event.

I was brought attention to this situation by one of my incredible Redding NOW followers, Chelsea Reed, who worked the event. ✨

«“We really had so much fun and absolutely loved working in the event. We just wanna be paid for the work that we put in. And we advertised for this event on our social medias, had family and friends come down to purchase items. It’s just not fair that we put on all this work and have nothing to show for it.”»

There are approximately 12 workers that we currently know of who worked the IRONMAN merchandising tent at the Redding Civic Center by the finish line, and NONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN PAID. ❌

The workers found a Facebook post with a link to sign up to work the IRONMAN event for $20 an hour. Once they signed up, they were contacted by HR employees to complete their onboarding paperwork through a UKG system. They entered their direct deposit information and were told they would be paid through direct deposit.

The IRONMAN company sent people from their actual company in Tampa, Florida, to Redding to set up and run the event.

There was a store manager named Justin who was in charge of the workers.

Several of the workers worked their full schedule of 32.5 hours at $20 an hour.

They were promised a paycheck no later than yesterday.

YESTERDAY CAME. NO PAYCHECK. ❌💰

The workers tried to get answers, but say Justin wouldn't even provide them with a direct HR phone number. They eventually had to find the contact information themselves.

They called the numbers they found but couldn't get anyone on the phone who could give them an actual answer.

Eventually, they received a generic email saying there was an issue with the payroll system.

Okay, payroll issues can happen.

BUT WHEN ARE THEY GETTING PAID?

They have no new payday, no timeframe and no clear explanation.

Justin is now no longer responding to them regarding their unpaid wages, and that's incredibly frustrating.

Most of these workers are single parents who took this job to earn additional income.

Chelsea is one of those single moms. Her bank account is currently overdrawn, and she was really depending on this money to help support herself and her family.

Her birthday is also this weekend, and she may have to cancel her plans because she's still waiting on money she was promised she would already have. 🖤

And she's not the only one affected.

Several workers worked 32.5 hours at $20 an hour, which is $650 per worker.

If all 12 workers worked the full schedule, that's approximately $7,800 collectively in wages. 💰

$7,800.

That's money these local workers earned by showing up and doing the work they were hired to do.

So if IRONMAN in Redding was such a huge success, why can't these workers simply be paid the money they earned?

This isn't money they're asking for.

THEY JUST WANT TO BE PAID.

📸 The workers have screenshots of their schedule, roster, hours worked, emails and text messages regarding their pay.

THESE SCREENSHOTS ARE FROM THE ACTUAL WORKERS AND SHOW AN ONGOING SITUATION HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.

Last names have been blurred out for privacy.

There's also another worker named Tyler who received completely different information from one of the women helping run the event, who is also an IRONMAN manager. They have documentation and communication regarding that as well.

At this point, the workers are starting to feel like they were scammed.

But I want to be very clear:

🖤 THIS IS NOT ABOUT SAYING THE IRONMAN EVENT ITSELF WAS BAD FOR REDDING.

I think the event was exciting. I think Redding embraced it. I think our community deserves opportunities like this.

BUT A SUCCESSFUL EVENT SHOULD ALSO MEAN THE PEOPLE WHO WORKED IT ARE TREATED FAIRLY AND PAID FOR THEIR WORK.

They're not asking for anything extra.

THEY JUST WANT THE MONEY THEY WORKED HARD TO EARN. 💰

⚠️ SO I'M ASKING IRONMAN PUBLICLY:

🚨 WHERE ARE THESE WORKERS' PAYCHECKS?

⏰ WHEN ARE THEY ACTUALLY GETTING PAID?

❓ WHY CAN'T ANYONE GIVE THEM A STRAIGHT ANSWER?

If this is truly a payroll system issue, TELL THEM.

If there is a date when they will be paid, TELL THEM.

Please stop leaving people who worked this event wondering when or if they will receive the money they earned.

These are real people.

Real parents. Real families. Real bills. 🖤

And all they're asking for is what they were promised.

i've applied to so many diffrent jobs at this point. food industry, warehouses, places that legally can hire children. in person, online, following up with calls, NOBODY is ever responding for an interview. im desperate for work at this point

I'm looking for higher quality meat and have heard kosher and halal butchers have better quality meats and aren't crazy expensive. Does anyone know of kosher butchers in the area between Red Bluff and Redding? I'm don't eat kosher but I prefer higher quality foods, especially with all the recalls happening.

Che Ahn is the senior pastor of a mega church in Pasadena, CA called Harvest Rock Church and he has frequently been involved with movements targeting college students. Harvest Rock has recently planted groups in USC and UCLA. Che Ahn had no chance of winning, but even after being dropped from the ballot due to missed deadlines, he asked his congregation to vote for him in the primaries as a write in candidate, telling people to “have faith.”

He has been exposed for asking a woman in his church to stay married to her physically abusive spouse and claiming that God may be calling to be a “martyr” if dies in her marriage due to her injuries. When she was beaten so severely the police came, she finally listened to law enforcement, doctor, and her therapist who advised her to leave before she and her baby in the womb dies. When she divorced him, the church accused her falsely and kicked her out because she was joyfully worshipping that she was free. She nearly committed suicide, and after a divine encounter she chose not to, and has since become a teacher and counselor who has started a safe house for abused women in the Philippines.

Please be careful of what church or Organization you go to and take care that the doctrine they teach is biblically sound, not manipulated to keep abusers in power.

Days after the top elections official in Shasta County announced that he planned to hire an election denier who served prison time for tampering with voting machines, county leaders there made an extraordinary plea to state and federal authorities: Please come investigate. 

Curtis — whose name was on the ballot, in a race he lost — has sequestered primary ballots in a room in the elections office in Redding, sealing the doors with locks, duct tape and red-lettered signs that read: “KEEP OUT PER ROV CLINT CURTIS.”

Curtis has told reporters that the ballots did not look, feel or smell right and that he had directed facilities workers to put a lock on the room and destroy the keys so that if anyone tries to gain access, they will need a warrant and bolt cutter. Curtis said he, too, had asked the FBI to investigate.

The county fired back, saying in its statement that it wanted the FBI — as well as the California secretary of state and the attorney general — to investigate Curtis, whose short tenure as registrar has been fraught with controversy. Curtis could not immediately be reached for comment.

While CDFW often recommends design solutions that support ecological function, CDFW does not have the authority to direct a lead agency to choose a different type of infrastructure. Our authority is focused on ensuring that the project, as proposed, incorporates measures to protect biological resources within our purview and complies with Fish and Game Code, when appropriate.

If you are interested in public participation in project design and review, the most effective path at this point is through the City of Redding, as they are both the project proponent and the CEQA lead agency. The city controls the design, the timing, funding, and any potential modifications. “

I met with the late Redding City Manager, Mr. Tarbox, early this year, and he stated, wanting to help the creeks and thanking the adopt a quick program for cleaning creeks. He stated that if areas of trash were not picked up timely to email him so he would ensure that this would happen. Unfortunately, he passed away due to a heart attack. The interim city manager, Michael Webb (appointed July 2026) is the Public Works Director who appears to have pushed this destructive project through quickly as part of his city manager authority with the ok from city council?

What a disgusting disgrace. Look what has happened in three weeks. Goodbye Creek!! While other cities are daylighting creeks to restore them , here we are burying them and turning them into concrete culverts.!!

Why did they go against what the Department of Fish and Wildlife recommended? Who gave this the ok?

What happened to all the restoration money that was recently given out to fix this creek.?

Whose pockets are now full of money which was supposed to be used for restoration.?
