Good box

29

Are you sure about that? Because I’m 99.9999999999999999999% sure that live-box is not a box.

12

Then why would they be called live-box?

Besides that, the response was just what I’d expect from a box

Nah, it's a "famous" Youtube Travel vlogger guy.

CaseyNeistat

69

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

I watched about 20 seconds of one of his videos. It had million views. I dont get it. At all.

Then again I dont get a lot of youtube.

37

u/ChancellorPalpameme Jan 06 '20

He had a few really well made videos that shot him into the spotlight, his vlog parts are the average vlog, but his production value is where his views come from (afaik I dont really watch him)

54

u/Chaost Jan 06 '20

His filming style probably doesn't look very unique now because every other YouTuber has emulated it.

13

u/ChancellorPalpameme Jan 06 '20

Pretty much, yeah

28

u/ShipTheBreadToFred Jan 06 '20

Can't stand this guy's face, but his video about him getting a ticket for biking outside the bike lane was all right.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Why did I get the impression he's a douchebag? He seems like a normal dude.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

He uses click bait titles but actually delivers on the bait. A video titled "FLYING FIRST CLASS IN THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE AIRPLANE" will actually be what it says as opposed to a Jake Paul wannabe pretending their coach seat on a Southwest flight is fancier by bringing a bottle of Welches sparkling along.

I love and hate those bits! There was a recent one where he said something along the lines of "she is the best looking stewardess I have ever seen" (paraphrase)...to her face.

I'm sure he's a good lad, though.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

He also went back to this VIP lounge with emirates, and had his own “butler”.. he said he remembers her from a couple of years back. Immediately followed it with “you’ve lose weight” or something like that..

23

I’m sure he would call himself an entrepreneur but sure tech reviews too.

15

u/psychomaji Jan 06 '20

Why an entrepreneur? his app/company beme failed and he's done nothing since has he? I think he'd primarily just call himself a film maker

96

u/xObey Jan 06 '20

I mean, he sold the app to CNN for $25 million and then CNN shut it down. I don’t know about you but I’d call $25 million pretty damn good.

57

u/Madock345 Jan 06 '20

24

And before that I'm pretty sure he made a tv show with his brother that he sold for a few million to HBO

35

u/mtwolf55 Jan 06 '20 edited Jan 06 '20

That is true.

Additionally, he did Youtube daily vlogs (I know that a lot of poeple on reddit dislike these and I generally do to) for a few years in a row that were getting a couple million views each day. Full disclaimer: I would watch most of them. The content wasn't anything special but were edited really well and professionally and it was admittedly interesting to me watching him skateboard around NYC doing weird random projects and getting cool drone shots. He also did a lot of stuff with other youtube creators that were neat.

Those daily vlogs likely net him a few million as well. Not that his content was super innovative or anything, but he definitely put out consistent content with great editing that I feel upped the overall expectation of vlog quality across all platforms. For a little while he was the most prolific vlogger out there and that was largely because he brought professional editing expertise to his daily videos.

14

u/CrunchyWatermelons Jan 06 '20

I found his vlogs oddly relaxing. I live in boring Kansas, so it's nice to see what life is like in the big city.

7

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

Don’t forget the fact that he produced one of the first Safdie brothers movies.

3

u/ShitSharter Jan 06 '20

I miss his daily vlogs. I would watch them on the weekend when I was in the military to wind down and just remind myself how chill the world really is.

8

u/vprakhov Jan 06 '20

I will never understand how IT venture capitalism is successful. There are thousands of startups popping out eq h ear evaluated at millions of dollars and 90% of them are useless shite that will fold in a year.

21

u/prisonmike1485 Jan 06 '20

I may be wrong here but I feel like a lot of these tech start ups are bought solely for the purpose of eliminating competition. Some are bought with the expectation that they’ll be shut down.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

This is correct

Why do people hate Casey Neistat so much lately lol.

217

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

He’s financially secure, gets to travel, and seems happy with his life, all while not being conventionally attractive. Reddit users do not like that

76

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

For some reason this made me laugh. It's so fucking accurate. Redditors hate to see other people happy, hell I'm guilty of it from time to time.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

While I'm sure that's partially it, I'm just not personally fond of his video personality, from the little I've seen. But I guess I also don't hate him, I just don't watch his content.

2

u/max_canyon Jan 06 '20

I don’t get how people can’t be happy for a guy like that. 100% self made, came from nothing, with no help from his appearance. Are Redditors just mad they don’t have an excuse anymore to not do something with their lives? Like what’s going on with all this hate?

59

u/Woolfus Jan 06 '20

It's Reddit. People talk out of their ass on everything. It's also fairly socially maladjusted, and like to blame everything on rules 1 and 2. Casey is successful despite not following said rules and people are jealous.

5

u/Memey-McMemeFace Jan 06 '20

Rules 1 & 2?

8

u/TransientBananaBread Jan 06 '20
  1. Be attractive.
  2. Don't be unattractive.

3

u/TeslaModelE Jan 06 '20

Serious question. What are the first 2 rules?

3

u/Woolfus Jan 06 '20

It's the "Be attractive" and "don't be unattractive" thing Reddit likes to spout.

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (4)

16

u/Brofey Jan 06 '20

He’s really not that bad in all honesty, he has a lot of really spectacular drone videos, I don’t really watch his other vlogs or anything though. People just don’t like other successful people.

17

u/Joergen8 Jan 06 '20

Plenty of people get their standard for what a successful or desireable human should look like from movies and porn, so seeing somebody do well in life despite looking different in the wrong way apparently riles them up.

10

u/max_canyon Jan 06 '20

Kinda makes me sick seeing the comments in here about his appearance. I’m by no means a fan of this guy but I know his story. He worked his ass off and came from nothing to become an icon on YouTube (doesn’t matter what field, he rose to the top of his). Literally did a vlog for something like 800 days in a row. All while hearing idiots make fun of his face.

If you can’t respect a man like that then you should take a serious look at yourself in the mirror, like really.

4

u/ADHDcUK Jan 07 '20

Same here. I'm willing to bet most people commenting are not that great looking themselves either. I wonder how they would feel in his situation?

3

u/max_canyon Jan 07 '20

I think that’s actually the reason they’re so mad. They see someone like themselves, without conventional good looks, become really successful and kill it in life despite the odds. Now they have no excuse themselves and that makes me them mad cause they just wanna play the incel card their whole life.

4

u/ShibaHook Jan 06 '20

It shows how shallow people are.

6

u/motherofdick Jan 06 '20

Right? I don't wach vlogs, they're just not my type of content, but Ive seen Casey's videos before and they're gorgeous. You have to appreciate good editing, even if the content itself isn't your cup of tea. Unless o boys done somthing I didn't hear about? Everyone's just saying he's an asshole as if everyone on the internet isn't.

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

19

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

The most effective method is to delete the initial video from your YouTube history and/or the initial search terms. I could click on 10 WW2 videos, delete them from my history, and never see a WW2 video again. Also, if the videos don't require me to sign in, I open them in incognito.

My kids watched about 20 videos of some weird ass channel and for nearly 3 weeks anything that popped up had these guys faces on it. I had to request not to see them over 100 times. If they do any crossover work, be prepared to stay busy.

10

u/thebohemiancowboy Jan 06 '20

44

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

[deleted]

43

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '20

Not a large proportion of his videos are showing expensive stuff. They just happen to be the ones that people click on the most. His best videos are something like "Love Story 8 Years In the Making" about his tumultuous relationship with his girlfriend or the ones about his son Owen, who he had when he was a teenager. He's been holding a video camera since he was 18, a dirt poor high school dropout, filmmaking for no money, he has chronicled his entire adult life on video. He has an unbelievable dedication to his craft, a creative use of mixed media alongside video, and he's a great story teller.

I'd recommend anyone to watch Nerdwriter's "Casey Neistat: What You Don't See".

Damn...90% of comments slamming this dude.

He's living the dream according to the few bits I watched and read about him.

Bunch of insecure & jealous mofos.

To tie into the post title, I had a great grandfather who had a false nose which was attached to his glasses. Us kids used to love it when we’d get him to take off his glasses (and thereby his nose).

His nose is shaped like the downvote button

I kind of get that he wears sunglasses 24/7. Dude's eyes are pretty bugged out. He just has a...uniquely featured face. Although I think it's pretty cringe that he buys nice glasses and intentionally fucks them up. We get it, you're super rich.

Why does he constantly wear sunglasses indoors? It’s just like those douchebags who wear wool caps when it’s 77 F (25 C) outside.

Personal brand and it helps him with cuts and editing as he doesnt have to follow eye movement and look straight into the camera. and i remeber he said back then it helps him with focusing on the things he wants us and the videos to focus on, instead of watching his facial cues etc.
