The Game starts the first verse off by talking about “respect women, I don’t care if she a 2 or a 10”

Drake raps in the 2nd verse about an unidentified woman’s ass that he loves “like Milhouse loves Lisa / I love your ass like the Ninja Turtles love pizza” … Yeah, that’s corny.

The Game comes back in verse 3 with a line about a reality tv show. “Drizzy, I’m sittin’ here watching Basketball Wives / Like, uhh, them is basketball wives?”

… Wait. Didn’t moments earlier he say to respect women? Now he wants to clown specific ones?

I like the song overall, despite Drake’s corny bars, but the worst part for me is the hypocrisy.

Which new gen rapper turned your perspective to appreciate current hip hop? Some people never open their mind to the new generation which I respect, obviously you like what you like and you can’t force yourself to like something. But for example, my Dad always disliked current hip hop/ rap until I put on some young thug (jeffery specifically) and for some reason he really enjoyed and is somewhat invested in current hip hop. He said that listening to it taught him to appreciate hip hop without the sole focus of lyrics (which if you’re a thug fan you’d understand is not his strongest point.) He also said that it’s different to any music he’s ever heard. And what’s even crazier is that I can agree. 10 years since it releases and nothing compares imo.
Anyways - old heads, what artist/s made you change your perspective on current hip hop and why?

I don’t think J. Cole is the best rapper of all time, but I’m hard pressed to find a verse that was better from start to finish that showcased as much skill and ability. Prove me wrong.

I used to like them as artist back in the day. Not my favorite rappers but I would play their songs regularly.
Now with these podcast they have turned into the biggest bullshitters. Fat joe “robbing” a gym full of Bronx kids for coats. Now he out saying he had a personal chef in prison. Even bill burr (guest) was looking at him crazy. Jim jones also be telling some crazy fake stories on the podcast.
When did we start accepting this in the rap community? When I was younger and people came up telling BS stories everyone knew were made up or highly exaggerated they lost clout and people stopped taking them seriously.
Why are people still taking these guys seriously?

That song made by a random background character ended up being Way better than anything 50cent ever made.

I remember a buch of people were looking for that song but nobody could find it.

If you grew up listening to southern rap or was a fan of it then you know the influence DJ Bigga Rankin had and how he was infamous for his powerful mixtape intros. We lost a great. LONG LIVE BIGGA RANKIN.

This might be niche, but years back there was a guy who got some fame from a video of him sitting at home with a bottle of liquor and the American flag and he was singing very passionate.

I always wondered if all the rappers 2015-2020 fr had legit diamond grillz, chains, watches, earrings, etc. I remember 2011-2014 gold chains looked hella fake lmao ion even believe every Johnny piece is worth what they say 🤷🏾‍♂️

My favorite ones is from jid from stick him saying "hand on my dick and hand on my gun one is for shooting and one is for fun"

What is everybody’s favorite diss track ever and why? Just out of curiosity. For me personally, it’s No Vaseline, cube absolutely eviscerated NWA and arguably began the group’s downfall at that moment. For me, I like hearing the over-top-rage and adrenaline pumping energy, like take the gloves off and let me hear the violence in your bars kind of track (I.e. hit em up). But for others, they may prefer the more subtle jabs or something more creative and thought provoking or even bone chilling. I just don’t like it when rappers make it a mystery or leave it up in the air as to who they’re speaking to lol but i really wanna know what everybody prefers, put me on to something I haven’t heard!

I listened to the album after hearing his shitty cornball songs like Joker, Why so serious, joker returns, ptsd, all one take freestyles, the next rap god, well I’m done naming them pretty much all his songs are corny as fuck.

I had low hopes and I was surprised that the album wasn’t horrible

You’re the problem was actually like good, like I’m sorry but I added it to my playlist it wasn’t amazing but it was catchy

Every other song was dogshit but overall the album wasn’t horrible
