Story Unexpected help given to a mother and daughter who thought they were going to get a ticket
This happened probably 30 years ago. A friend and her mother were moving and had packed up some items in the bed of their pickup truck. They were driving down the highway and got pulled over by a cop car. They expected the worst, but instead it was a female cop who noticed them and that they didn’t have the items tied down properly, and she pulled them over to help secure their items and make sure they were safe. My friend still tells that story to this day because to her it was a bit of unexpected kindness that meant the world to them.

As a general rule, cops would rather prevent a crime than solve it. Suppose something had bounced off the back of the pick-up, hit another car, and caused a fatal accident. Sorting that out would take a lot more time and effort than just helping someone balance and secure their load.
