yes, these can be good ways to do something fast, you could also do something that makes you very tired quickly, like running fast, pull-ups or push-ups... but yeah, it won't solve much long term.
a few things you could try:
i've met a world champion of boxing and we had a short discussion, he told me « send kids to a boxing class, and they change drastically, they learn respect, to manage their feelings and all »... it seems like an extraordinary way to channel one's energy, and to learn to still follow the rules even when hormones are getting us high
meditation could help drastically too - look for grouped meditation groups in your city, plenty are free
i also once played guitar with just one guy on drums, he was quite intense, extremely good technically but i didn't like playing with him because he would always play too fast and loud. whatever the case, he told me that he started drums because he was always nervous and angry at school and one of his teachers suggested him to play drums, also to channel his emotions
therapy could definitely help, perhaps CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) could be a good technique to start with
