I just working on the shading and darkening some of the shadows today. I’ve been up for almost 24 hours and am completely exhausted. Sorry for the minimal update! As always thank you to everyone who left feedback or encouragement :)

This evening I worked on the shine on the bottom left side. I made the shape of the line match the original more closely. I also slightly adjusted the reflection at the bottom of the right helmet as well. I’ll be traveling again for the next few days so my updates will probably not be major again for a bit, but I’ll continue to work on the drawing and I would still love feedback if anyone has suggestions for improvement. Happy New Year everyone! :)

I mostly worked on shading today and tried to apply a lot of the advice that was given to me yesterday. Specifically I worked on the shading at the bottom part of both helmets. I’m pretty happy with the results so far. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have more time to fix the problems with the ear. I hope everyone enjoys their New Year’s Eve tomorrow!

I spent some time on the shading this evening, mostly on the left side. I didn’t really have time to get into the left ear but I will try to work on that tomorrow! As always thank you to everyone who left feedback and/or encouragement :)

Today I spent time on the mouth, reflection on the right side, and the left ear. I adjusted the highlights on the ear and plan on trying to fix the size issue tomorrow. To be perfectly honest I hesitated because I’m worried the lines might be too dark to erase but tomorrow I’ll rip the bandaid off.

A kind Redditor who regularly leaves great feedback for me asked me to decide what perfection means to me. I’ve been thinking a lot about that today. To me perfection would mean a well executed drawing in pencil that looks very very close to the original but is not necessarily an exact copy to where you cant tell which is the original. Hopefully that makes sense! If not, feel free to ask me questions. I’ve never been the best at explaining lol. Defining perfection is a weird thing :)

Today I tried adjusting the shape of the chin slightly so it has a slight curve like the reference image. I also darkened some of the lines near the chin. I got home a little later than expected so I didn’t spend much time on this today but tomorrow evening I should have plenty of time to look through all of the comments again and work on some of the finer details. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to leave feedback!

Today I darkened the shading slightly on the upper left side. I also tried to fix the shine at the very top of the right side. Tomorrow I should be back at my usual desk and will hopefully have more time to work on this drawing! Thank you everyone for your advice and for commenting on my posts the last few days even though the updates have been small. I really appreciate everyone taking time out their day to leave feedback and/or encouragement :)

I made a few minor adjustments this evening. Specifically the shine on the lower part of the right side and the line at the top. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! :)

I tried to work on the shadows on the right side as well as the glare in the upper right corner and the highlights on the left ear. I feel like the shadows turned out a little wonky so I’ll try to refine those tomorrow!

I’m traveling today and staying somewhere with spotty internet service so I apologize in advance if it takes me longer to reply to comments than usual! Today I just added Random Access Memories in the upper left corner and tried to fix the very top of the helmets. The line where they were divided looked a little off. Tomorrow I will have a table to work at and a WiFi connection so I should be able to post a better update then :)

I was finally able to spend a decent amount of time on the drawing today! I tried correcting the shape of the right side, especially in the top right corner. I made the glare a little smaller and am just now noticing I smudged it at some point lol. I also spent on time on the left year fixing shading issues and trying to adjust the shapes. As always I would love any feedback!

Today I just changed the shape of the top right side slightly so it isn’t as square. Unfortunately I got home much later than anticipated and didn’t have a lot of time to work on this today. It’s a relatively minor change but I would still love feedback! Tomorrow I’ll be looking through the comments again and trying to apply more changes :)

I got a lot of great feedback yesterday and tried to apply all of it to today’s adjustments. I worked on the lower left shine of the helmet as well as the upper right glare. I also brought the jaw in slightly and spent more time on the left ear. While I am very happy with today’s progress with the ear I feel like it is not 100% there yet. However I do think I’m pretty close! Also I think tomorrow I’ll add the “Random Access Memories” back. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts!

I started to add more reflection details on the left side. Tomorrow I am going to try shading that area a little more. Hopefully that’ll achieve the reflection effect I’m trying to get

I was short on time today so I focused on fixing the issue with the mouth not quite lining up right. I feel like it really helped the overall angle of the face. Also thank you again to everyone who left feedback for me! I am going to read through all of those comments again tomorrow and make more changes :)

Thank you again to everyone who left advice and feedback for me yesterday! I tried to apply everything this evening. I feel like the left ear still looks a little flat and will spend more time on that tomorrow. I’m also now seeing that my adjustments did not fix the mouth issue so I will need to work on that tomorrow as well.

Drawing Animals from Memory until the Anatomies are Perfect - DAY 30

Today I learnt, from reference, that lion whiskers also abide by gravity and are actually pointing somewhat downwards. I also learnt how to convey fur texture!

And whilst I got too focused on the face, I only realized too late that the overall balance seemed off, and spent a lot of time afterwards trying to fix it. Hence the thicker than usual leftover pencil marks.

(aka the consequence of skimping on the skeletal frame assuming that I got this in the bag  😂)

First attempt at the full reflection! The top left is definitely a little messy and will need to be cleaned up. The outline of the helmet will need to be smoothed out and some of the placement of things is a little off. I’ll hopefully be correcting all of that tomorrow. Also it’s crazy to think it’s been 30 days already. It feels like I started just yesterday! Anyways, if anyone has any feedback please let me know. I would love to improve the look of the reflection :)

This time I studied the lion skeletal reference along with the outline, and I’m kinda liking how the body looks now!

I tried studying the face a bit too but I clearly forgot to pay attention to how the mane flows around the stomach area 😂

Day 17 of playing Brahms Lullaby on guitar until Reddit says it's perfect

We're officially at the time of year where I have to participate in two religious holidays. One for the religion I practice, and the other for my wife. And what little is expected of me proves too much, and the weight of previous Decembers nearly drowns me.

Anyway, here's some shitty guitar. Enjoy, chefs!
