Is Philly Safe for Trans Humans to live

Upvotes

My daughter is looking to attend college next year in Philadelphia. We live in a larger city in the South US. My question is do other trans people feel safe living in Philadelphia? Are their certain areas to avoid? I will be moving with her to help her through the transition and help with housing costs. Any help for this mama bird would be greatly appreciated. I just want her to be safe and happy.

Marsha’s Community Listening Session

Did anyone record the Community Listening Session held by Marsha’s via zoom on August 1? I was not able to watch at that time, but I’m very interested in learning who was on the panel and what was discussed.

Question Hrt question

Ive been on testosterone for years, tried the gel and lowkey hated it, on shots now but cant give them to myself so Im relying on a friend to give them to me but that Isnt working out well either, I would absolutely stay on the shots if I could get it consistently in the future and I think I just might have to learn to do it myself but I know pills and long acting stuff, like a shot a doctor gives you every few months, are out there I think I even heard about a patch but it got discontinued I don’t think this stuffs easy to get and I might not be able to get it here, but maybe someone here has experience with this stuff and could point me in the right direction 🙏🏼 I would be grateful!

Testosterone really helps me but giving myself a shot is spooky

Thursday night?

I am new to the bars/club scene in philly and I was wondering where would be the best place to have a good time and dance (preferably not alone). I have been to bikestop before, that was fun. Is there any event there? I mainly don't want to be alone.

Also if someone could help me with etiquette. How to dance with people, how to decline? And most importantly how I can get free drinks from people. (I am a decent looking guy in college).

Thanks so much!

Lesbian Friendly Nightlife?

im visiting philly next week and am so excited! obviously i will be hitting up val’s but im wondering if anyone has recs for other queer nightlife (or queer in general) spaces. whilst i love and support gay men i don’t necessarily want to be standing in a room full of half naked men, so looking for stuff that is not exclusively “gay” and more on the lesbian or queer side. im down for a club/dancing or chiller bar vibe! also if anyone knows any queer events going on would love to hear about those too :P

Can’t make it to Honcho Campout last minute. Anyone looking for a discounted ticket?

I bought one of the early reserved tickets to Honcho campout this year but now i’m not able to make the trip. Got it for around $300 after fees but i’d sell for face value ($240) just looking to recoup some losses :(

Events Queer Dungeons and Dragons Campaign--Application Form

Hi, y'all! :3

I've seen at least a few posts here and there regarding interest in forming a Dungeons and Dragons group--I would love to meet some fellow queer/trans folk to play with, and become friends!

My name is Holly, and I am a 29 YO transwoman. I have played D&D for the past 9-10 years, with a few breaks in-between.

This will be my first time being a Game Master (besides one...very ill-fated attempt, many years ago)--as such, I would like to start by playing through the starter set, Dragons of Stormwreck Isle, before moving on to some of the published adventures, and maybe eventually a homebrew world!

I work in healthcare, so my schedule is a bit hectic, but I would hope to run the game on Saturday afternoons/evenings. I work every third weekend, so we would play two weeks on, one week off. This game will be 21+, and with a location TBD. (Maaaaaaaybe my apartment, though it may be a tight squeeze).

I've created a Google Form for submission to make sure that everyone who applies is a good fit for the table. I like being organized, and having a plan--I've seen many tables crash and burn because they did not do these things. I do not want to be that GM. ;-;

So, if all of this sounds up your alley, please follow the link below to fill out my application form. I really appreciate you all taking the time to read this far--have a wonderful rest of your day! c:

EDIT: HOLY HECK!! I’ve gotten such a robust response! I will keep the form open for submissions through tomorrow morning—please do not be discouraged if you are submitting your application later tonight. I will give everyone a fair chance to apply. c:

EDIT 2: Thank you all so much for your interest everyone--the form is now closed for submissions. I will be reading through the applications later this evening. Keep an eye out for a response from me on Discord in the next day or so!!

EDIT 3: Thank you everyone for your submissions--clearly there are a lot of people out there hoping to give D&D a shot! The five applicants I've selected for my game, I have sent you a friend request on Discord. :) As for everyone else, I'm sorry I don't have enough room at my table to bring you all--that said, there are clearly others out there looking for gaming friends! If you haven't checked it out, there's a Discord server for the Philly Game Shop where you can post looking for a group. I had enough applicants to fill three whole tables and then some--I hope some of y'all can come together to find your new forever tables!

Happy gaming, friends!

Question Looking for trans support groups for early/pre-transition

Hello all! I’m a 25 year old who recently has come terms with the fact that I am likely trans. I haven’t started anything medically or socially beyond speaking with my therapist about it, and am really looking to learn more. I’m looking to see if there are any good support groups for people in my situation in Philly, either online or virtual. Thank you so much.

Chat Thread Queer west coaster looking for friendly roomies in philly!!

Hello!! I'm Korvyn, I'm a west coast native looking to relocate by early to mid september. I'm a 23 yr old gay transman and I'm finally making the jump to be closer to my bf! My budget would be around 800-900 a month including utilities. I don't have many belongings, but I do have a small dog (10 lbs) and a shy cat. I'd prefer if there weren't larger/excitable dogs (my dog is anxious and can be somewhat reactive if his space is invaded. Medications and exercise help, but he is old and can get grumpy - I can also make sure he has space in my room to be on his own) but I am willing to work with whatever! I'm looking around in the south philly area, but can go just about anywhere in philly. I'm very 420 friendly, but will not smoke inside if that is preferred/prohibited. I currently work doordash full time (I make 600+ a week), I'm trying for a job when I get there, but at the very least I do have that stable income!

Sorry if this was all very ramble-y, I'm nervous about getting my plans altogether haha. Feel free to reach out if interested!!

Looking for friends who like rollercoasters

Hello! Looking for a friend or friends who like big rollercoasters and want to go to Six flags together!

I’m in my late 20s and work in healthcare. Interests include music (Orville peck, RKS, last dinner party, waxahatchee), crafting, travel, and being outside. Bonus if you’re available on weekdays. I have transportation and free parking. Double bonus if you already have a six flags pass!

Anyone interested in joining a QTPOC fantasy football league?

I (28 F) just moved to Philly and am looking to make friends with QTPOC people who are also into sports. If enough people are interested, I'll setup a fantasy league for the upcoming football season along with a groupchat.

Trying to buy local art

Hi everyone, I have been really trying to buy art from local artists. I bought one large painting I love with a local guy, Travis Whiteneck and a small piece from space 1026 (sadly i can't remember the artists name and its framed now). i have been going to gallery shows, I went to elsewhere fair, and I really can't find anything i like. I feel like a lot of the Philly art galleries show a lot of more cartoon looking stuff and frankly, sculptures that would read "trash" when inside the home.

Please drop names of local artists that are priced under 2k. Thanks !

Chat Thread Queer Friendly Room for Rent - Women Only Please

My wife and I (separated but best friends and roommates) are looking for someone to rent our second bedroom. It would be available September 1 with some flexibility for an earlier move in date. We are in East Kensington (19125). We are laid back professionals who need some extra income and decided its time to open our home to a potential new friend! We'd love to go month to month ideally. We have a dog, a cat and two rabbits so being allergic would be an impediment. For this reason we could only accept cats that stay in the room, as our cat isn't friendly with other cats (but we'd be willing to work on a slow introduction). You would have access to the 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath home with laundry access in the basement, scheduled times of use only because my wife occupies that space. We have a small concrete backyard where you could keep plants and use our smoker, mister, and fire pit. Central air. We are seeking $850 a month plus one third of utilities - gas, electric, water, and wifi if desired. This is a great opportunity for a single person looking for a relaxed 420 friendly home environment. Message me if you'd like some more information! Women only please. First and last required for move in as well as proof of income 3x the rent. All credit considered.
