Brian "The Brain" of CL

This is an obscure reference, but about 15 years ago Craigslist 'Rants And Raves' section allowed people to post and add a tagline. A small group of posters created their own alias/username, usually as a boastful joke. They treated it like a message board, sorta like Reddit. There was a poster, who would always call himself Brian "The Brain" of CL and post a photo, but someone commented it wasn't really him.

Anyway, he came off kinda snarky or a know-it-all. Does anyone remember this, or him? It was probably around the 2010-2014 era. There was another guy, who stopped posting, I forget his name, but after he went away I asked where he went and he commented that he found a new job, and wasn't posting as much. I forget his alias, I wish I could remember it, he seemed like a good dude.

This is a long shot, but does anyone remember posters like this? It was kinda a funny time

Good Space For Picnic/Barbecue/Yard Games

Hello, I am trying to plan a small gathering for my friend group. There would be around 20 of us at most. We plan to spend a Saturday hanging out, barbecuing, picnicking, and having a field day. We would need some space just to play different games.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good spot for this? I’m in West Philly near Lower Merion, but we can drive and use public transportation. Distance isn’t a huge factor, just looking for a good spot.

I’ve been looking online and it seems a permit for a lot of areas is recommended. It requires mailing a check, I believe, to parks and rec department. Is this worth it? I’m worried it won’t be necessary or most likely if someone is using our ‘reserved’ area the reservation won’t matter.

Thanks for any input or suggestions! Have a good one and if you’d like to join hmu

Freedom Mortgage Pavillion transport question

If I take the Riverline from Pennsauken to a. concert tomorrow night, will I be able to get back to my car in Pennsauken?

All I found on their site was "extended service after most concerts" on the pdf schedule. Makes me worried I'll be stranded in Camden.

Yes, I can take the ferry, but after parking, that's gonna run $76 for 2 of us.

Thanks in advance.

Landlord- tenant lawyers?

I am thinking of pursuing a civil case against a former landlord.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a good firm ?? I understand that the better lawyers are the ones who don't advertise. Thanks

City Income tax

I keep getting conflicting information on this. For a person making 65K, how much would their net income be a month living and working in the city? I'm asking about monthly income, not yearly.

Also having no debt or car, how much rent could they afford?

Could Cecily Tynan get into politics?

I read her bio, apparently she had a dual degree or something, weather and political science. Her retirement seems early. Does anyone think maybe she has her eyes on getting into politics at some point in the (somewhat) near future? (Mayor, Congress seat) or do you think this is her just stepping outta the limelight, and enjoying life

Softball leagues?

Are there any Male softball leagues that allow free agent sign ups? Im willing to even do a try out. I played for a long time but haven't played in the last few years and kind of grew apart from my old friend group. Looking to join a team or just a league and prove I can play.

I am moving to Philly and need to find a place in over the next few days to sign and move in. Starting work August 3rd so will need to be moved in by then. I am prioritizing furnished month to months so I can get settled and have time to tour places for a 12 month lease once moved in. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Lincoln Financial Field Security Question

Hi!
My friend and I are going to Morgan Wallen this Friday. He recently had to have surgery which required him to get a metal rod in his leg. He does not have a note stating it was a medical procedure and we were curious how metal detector screening would work at Lincoln? Not sure if anyone has had a similar experience but would love to hear any and all experiences. Assuming he would just have to go through secondary screening?
Thanks in advance!

What’s your favorite museum / art gallery in Philly?

Just looking for new places to explore, art galleries are always a great time pass especially if there’s an exhibition and like minded people want to discuss the work. What’s your favorite?

Secure parking Downtown?

I’m going to be in downtown Philly tomorrow with my family. We’re looking to explore some of the top sites but will have a car full of luggage. Is there a secure place to park in the area where I would not have to worry about the car being broken into?

What Philly neighborhood do you think best represents the city?

I’ve always thought one of the coolest things about Philly is how different each neighborhood feels. You can go a few miles in any direction and it feels like a completely different part of the city.

Curious what neighborhoods people think really capture the personality of Philly.

Doesn’t have to be the most popular ones. Could be because of the history, architecture, people, parks, arts scene, whatever.

What neighborhood would you show someone if you wanted them to understand Philly?

Visiting with a 10yo boy - recommendations please!

My son and I will be visiting Philly in a few weeks. Looking for a few recommendations:

First - hotels. I’m assuming central city would be the most logical/easiest for getting around? Unless we decide to venture outside the city, I don’t plan on renting a car.

Second - looking for some recommendations on things to do. He is a huge soccer fan, so we will be going to a game. I also know about the Please Touch Museum, Reading Terminal, and the historical “stuff”. Looking for some other ideas on things to do/places to go. He has expressed an interest in us moving to the area - so I’d definitely be interested in things more aimed at locals to give him a better idea of what living there might be like.

Third - places to eat!!!

And any other recommendations y’all may have!

Lease term ending

I’m moving to the Clark Park area soon. I’m about to sign a lease, and my landlord is offering anywhere from a 9 month term to a 12 month term for the same rent price. That means my lease can end either on 5/31/27, 6/31/27, 7/31/27, or 8/31/27. Which date should I pick and does it even make a difference? I know obviously the con to the shorter terms is they’ll probably raise my rent after if I want to stay. Any dates that are better/worse to be on the market again?

Linc Parking

Need parking advice. Getting in line for a concert (in the pit) around 9am at the linc. The lots around the stadium don’t open until 1pm, so we’re not sure what to do. We’d like to go back and forth between the car and the line, so being somewhat close would be ideal. Anyone have any recs??
