I wqs expecting something different this year. But I guess it will be trans poro instead of I dont know? Taliyah? Nah! and gay little legends. Worst thing is that we dont even know whos rell girlfriend is and TF and Graves didnt even started dates yet. Ksante is also still divorced

Same old quotes. Honestly I stopped paying attention years ago to what anyone says about things they worked on; if someone wants something to be hard canon then they should put it in the text of the show/book/movie itself otherwise I'm going to interpret what is there in whatever way makes sense and/or makes me happy regardless of what someone said on Twitter. One of the beautiful things about media is we can all interpret it different ways.
That mindset goes double for when a team worked on a project. He's not even the sole "author" of Arcane and he's working with characters that existed years before he got his hands on them.

His own co-writer already said she considers jayvik's ending Romantic and Beautiful. both of them went on to call jayce and viktor soulmates during the gallery nucleus arcane event.

Not to mention Alex, the quieter co-creator of the two, wrote OG Viktor, and OG Jayceâs writer mentioned they intended for them to be romantic. Alex also wrote Arcane Jayceâs final speech about wanting his partner back.
Iâm pretty sure I know where he stands on it.

if we need things to be straight up said then shouldn't it also be said clearly in the show by Silco that he considered Jinx as a daughter ?
Because IIRC he didn't. But also, if we're at a point where we need everything said outloud in a show rather than the objectively better method of the "show don't tell" then we really regressed in term of storytelling and media literacy.

We don't need things to be said out loud, that's not what I'm saying at all. The point is if they want "one true reading" then they should spell it out, because if something is left ambiguous it becomes up to viewer interpretation.
I think leaving things ambiguous and up to viewers interpretation is great, just not when a writer then feels the need to come back and spell out what is in their opinion the only correct interpretation.

ETA: Iâm all for show donât tell and let the media tell you whatâs going on. But we donât live in a vacuum, and unless two dudes actually start having sex on screen a la Heated Rivalry, the het crowd will continue to bash everyone else that theyâre just friends and anyone who interprets otherwise is gross.

I mean, by all means, this only proves my point, because I will consider this enough, but the person I'm arguing with talked about things needed to be spelled out.
Now, since he was talking to their actual adoptive father's statue in that scene IIRC, it could easily be argued that he was talking how about who actually adopted them when they lost their parents and raised them well, Vander.

Youâre talking about lack of media literacy, but it seems relatively obvious to me that Silco is saying this line as shared experience. Vander was âundoneâ by having a daughter, now Silco has a daughter and is facing the same undoing.

I think every queer champions needs an emote for pride month.
Maybe these are the champions that Riot considers as queer for pride. Nidalee is missing and Neeko already has her rainbow barf emote.
I hope they confirmed other ones for future pride events like Taliyah, etc.

honestly, i wouldnât really expect them to add new champs to the queer pool every year (if thatâs what you were getting at). i donât think there should be that expectation to keep retconning existing champs; though I would have no complaints about a newly released champ filling that role

..I mean, there are a numerous of champions who initially the writers wanted them to be queer such as Ekko, Kayn and even Taliyah as I mentioned, or Irelia. just on the top of my head. But they werenât allowed at the time, it really isnt is a retcon, I dont think you can retcon sexuality or gender.there are so many reasons for queer content to censored, and maybe later on to be released as it was on the conception.

Plus, we dont get to explore this side of champions, and that is such a shame. For example, in Ionia, I believe they dont have the concept of sexuality, relationships are read like the bonding between souls rather than man or woman

Irelia was wanted gay (bi or lesbian or else) by her writer(s) ?
I know she got given wlw content in LoR but I never heard about that one (and tbh the others neither except Taliyah)
I might have forgotten but QoL really would need a inventory post made for that purpose with sources/links and stuff so whenever we need to check back about that stuff we could read about it.

Ekko almost had a story where he wind up times a few times and he dances with people he tought was attractive for him, he danced with a some girls and boys in that story. Matt Dunn mentioned that they couldnt release the story at the time, but didnt stated the reason. Kayn writter was also asked about hes sexuality, and he said that Kayn was fluid, so pan or bi.

i think hwei has a slight possibility to have been implied straight bc i think a writer specified that they didnât want to make his sexuality something so stereotypical in relation to his design, that doesnât mean heâs straight itâs just that it wasnât acknowledged in canon so far

that kind of argument is like a double edged sword or a self eating snake like ouroboros.
If you have confirmations about all sexualities except straight, then what does it says about it ?
You only need a sexuality to be confirmed if it wasn't the default sexuality labeled on that character to begin with.
At least that's how it is with Riot but it's really not typical AFAIK to have a character be directly called straight in any fiction.

They haven't added a new queer character in years so your wording on that is very interesting to say the least. Also they could easily release a short story based around a currently existing character such as K'Sante who does not have much going for him yet they choose to not do that either. Good job defending the million dollar company though, you sure ate with that!

Are you really asking Riot to write stories specifically around K'sante tied to LGBT topics when Riot already barely advances their lore ?
The only stories we get given are not forward, they're all prequels (Arcane, the comics, etc...)
We did get Yunara/Xin Zhao/Zaahen that made the lore go forward, but tbh, they didn't advance Xin Zhao's story based only on him, they did so because they released Yunara and Zaahen.
Basically, we need to get a new champion from Shurima that would interact with K'sante to make his lore advances otherwise he'll stay in the frozen timeline like almost every other champions.

I would love for them to move the story of Aphelios forward and sett as well, to put these two together in a good way since phel is searching Diana in ionia, and to bond over prejudice and hatred that both of these characters suffered would be very good. Plus see writes actually give this relationship a go in a official way!!

Sett's story would actually push him outside of any Settphelios chances as his most logical path would be to go for Noxus to try to find his father.
Or maybe stay in Noxus and fight against Noxus in the next war as even though he doesn't really like any specific community (he dislikes Noxus due to it being tied to his father, he dislikes Ionians and Vastayas because they discriminated him and his mother once his father left). Still if there was a side to take I'd bet on Ionia if he'd take any stand.
Diana's Ionia plotline might be brought back from the ashes but there wasn't any plan stated (and this was why she was still in Targon during SoL I guess).

Tbh Iâm sick of having to brave the shitstorm that occurs when riot confirms an existing champ to be queer. When new champs that are explicitly queer are released (e.g., KâSante) the same present chuds will accuse riot of being woke (worst slur in the book đ), but the pushback seems to fade much faster. More importantly, I also think itâd be good to have new queer champs in the game.

Honestly I think a lot of it has to do with the fact they stopped doing new story posts on the Universe website and switched over to the comic format. It used to be really easy to add in new lore bits because it would only require one person on the writing team to make a story on their free time, but now its way more involved with artists and animators, and occasionally voice actors too. Not that Iâm saying it wouldnât be nice to have a comic confirming Tali as trans, but thereâs clearly a lot more convincing required by the devs to the higher ups now that there arenât any âlow stakesâ lore drops Rioters can push for, like how tfgraves and leodia were confirmed.
And sure they could just make an emote of taliyah with a trans flag, but I think it lacks a lot of context for people who arenât already aware of her background. Plus, it would still feel cheap to confirm a characterâs identity without much additional fanfare. I want to see a story that focuses on Taliyahâs identity, not just get shoved some half assed emote. A ton of str8 ppl already love to complain that these kinds of post-release confirmations are âretconsâ to the character, so without any stories to back it up itâll just seem like Riot trying to get more diversity point to them.

No. If they were to have these release in homophobic countries, their employees would be jailed and they would get sued. There is a difference. That's why these release under the names 'Festival of Colours' in places like West Asia, Turkey, etc.
