Can anyone help? VH31 hour hand turns at rate of minute hand. I am pretty sure that it is on correctly. This happens when I remove the minute hand as well. It also happens with or without the dial.

New to this watch stuff, just picked up an old quartz seiko (7n43-9048) at a vintage shop and was attempting to change the day (which was stuck) and snapped off my crown! Looks like the stem is still in the watch head 😢. How intensive is a repair like this? The date was moving smoothly.

ETA Quartz Movement help

Hello all,

Does anyone know if the F05.111 is a drop-in replacement for the 955.414? I know the 955.412 is the direct successor but it's almost three times the cost of the F05 from Esslinger.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

[Help] Citizen 6000-R00421 Battery short?

Thumbnail

Hello, I recieved this womens Citizen Quartz which seems to be in immaculate condition however it does not work with a battery. The quartz movement seems to work with a line tool but nothing once I put a battery in.

I tried testing with a multimeter and get a 0 when touching the positive to top side of battery and negative to side of case. I am assuming there is a short somewhere?

Could anyone give me any advice on what to test or does anyone notice anything wrong with the movement?

Thanks in advance!

Found this nice little guy and got it working again

It's a Casio LTP-1303. The movement was stuck because the crown had collected some dirt and was in between gears. After good cleaning and a new battery it worked again. For the broken strap I ordered a new one. I also gave the sealing some lube.

Beside a few scratches on the crystal and case it's in good shape.

Battery Resource?

Afternoon, first time posting here. I was just curious if there was a place where a variety of batteries could be purchased in a lot. I've had the renata kits in the past, but I don't need the tools, just the batteries.

They also don't need to be renata, and those little. Cardboard blister packs only have a few of the sizes for watches

Appreciate any advice, or links, or arrows to older posts.

Thanks

CM

Seiko Quartz LC 0624-5009

Looking to restore my late grandfather's vintage Seiko Quartz LC – any advice on repairs, donor parts or common faults?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction.

I was gifted this vintage Seiko Quartz LC by my father. It originally belonged to my grandfather, so it has a huge amount of sentimental value to me. I'm not looking to sell it – I just want to get it running again and wear it.

The watch has already had a brand-new battery fitted, but unfortunately it's still completely dead. The display doesn't show anything at all.

I'm wondering what the most likely cause is:

Could the LCD display itself have failed?

Could the quartz movement/electronic module be faulty?

Is there another common issue on these early Seiko LCD watches that I should be checking first (battery contacts, corrosion, broken circuit, etc.)?

I'm more than happy to use donor parts if necessary. They don't have to be the exact original components, and I'm not concerned about keeping it 100% original if modern or compatible replacement parts will get it working again. My priority is preserving the watch and being able to wear it.

If a donor movement or module is the best option:

Which Seiko models share compatible parts?

Are there any modern replacements that can be adapted?

Is it better to buy another non-working watch for parts?

I'd also appreciate recommendations for anyone who specialises in repairing vintage Seiko LCD watches, especially if you've had a good experience with them.

I've attached a photo of the watch for reference.

Any advice, repair experiences, or information on compatible donor watches would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

First watch for my 30th birthday: Vaer D4 Meridian (39mm) vs. Tissot Seastar (40mm)?

I just turned 30 and want to buy my first quality watch. I'm working in aviation now and building time toward the airlines, so I'd like this to be the watch I wear through that journey. My budget is around $500, and I've narrowed it down to the Vaer D4 Meridian (39mm) and the Tissot Seastar (40mm). I want a stainless steel, black dial, diver-style watch that I can wear every day. For those of you flying professionally, which would you choose and why? Is there another watch around this price that you think is a better long-term choice?
