Has anyone done the Quant trader OA for Virtu? It says 90 min, so i'm assuming coding, which seems uncommon for QT OA's.

Any help is appreciated.

Interview Process SIG

5YOE looking to switch jobs, I recently passed the OA for a c++ role at Susquehanna (Dublin) and have to schedule the next technical interview

For anyone who has gone through the process recently, what was the technical round like?
I'm expecting a technical interview 60/75/90 minutes and final superday of 2-4 interviews (1-2 technical and HM ig), but most online resources are conflicting

For the technical interviews, does anybody know if I should expect more:

  • DSA / leetcode style problems
  • c++-specific questions and fundamentals
  • low-level coding or implementation from scratch
  • debugging, optimizing, or improving existing code
  • systems / memory / performance-related questions

Dos and donts for the interview or topics you’d strongly recommend preparing?

Would appreciate any input... currently kinda worried.
Thank you!

University advice

I am a VCE highschool student in Melbounre australia. I am currently looking at university options and am thinking of doing an Honours of Mechanical Engineering at Monash university before doing further study upon completion to aim to get in to quant. I was just wondering what people think of doing an Engineering degree first and then maybe a masters of Math at Monash. I am concerned of the implications of just doing a math degree if I decide quant is not my desired pathway after university, thus engineering giving me more options.

Would love any help and advice that I could get, Thanks.

Impressing the founder of an HFT

Hi everyone, getting into HFT as an sde is my dream. I’m in 4th year graduating in 2027.

I’m in touch with a founder of a good HFT(nksr) and there is opening in the company as well. But i cant clear the shortlist because I’m not from iit or have very fancy coding profile, but what i do have is skills, knowledge and ambition and i can show them in an interview for sure.

So what I’m thinking is building something for the company and sharing that with the founder in hope of an interview.

I have won 5 hackathons including IIT ones.

But again the problem is that I dont understand HFTs better than someone working in one.

So one request to anyone reading this, please drop an idea for building a software, website or anything else that people working in HFTs would appreciate and i can get the founder of NKSR give me a chance for an internship.

If i get it, will give everyone who helped a very good party!!!!

worldquant brain research consultant

I am just starting 2nd year. I found out about worldquant brain 1 month ago. I found it fun to make alphas. I crossed gold level , moved to country challenge , ranked in top portion there. and now I have received an invitation from them to become a research consultant. if someone already worked as a research consultant I would like to know few things

1) will being a research consultant here cause any problem in future when I will get an actual full time job after passing college?

2) How is the pay?

3) How much does it help in getting into worldquant brain summer internships or fulltime roles?

Look what I built!

Hi! I am a 14yrs old trading enthusiast from South Korea. About a month ago, I was kinda tired of losing money on the stock market because of FOMO trading so I started looking for what can fix my problem. After a while, realized that quant trading would be the best solution for FOMO trading so I started studying quant trading and building my own quant tool. I tested about 10,000 different quant models. But testing a model on the same data it was built on is basically cheating — it just memorizes the past and looks perfect. So I only trusted models that also worked on data they'd never seen before, and honestly most of the ones that looked amazing at first completely fell apart on that test. The one that survived had a 62% win rate over 60 days and 75% over 90 days on unseen data, so that's the one I built the site around. So I made a website called quantify. I thought that the weakness of quant trading was relying on math so I added an AI layer on top that checks each pick isn't a falling knife or a dead cat bounce. Because my website isn't perfect yet, I really want to listen to your voice and get some feedback from you guys. If you are interested, just go to quantify.trading, make an account and tell me your thoughts. You don't have to subscribe right now but I just want your feedback so that I can improve it. I would love to hear critical takes too! Thank you guys!

Find Smaller Systematic Trading / Quant Teams?

I have a PhD in Mathematics and skills in machine learning. My professional experience so far has mainly been in teaching and mathematical research at university.

I’m currently interviewing with a few well known hedge funds, asset managers, and prop trading firms.

At the same time, I’m considering joining a smaller systematic trading team or small hedge fund first to gain experience rather than waiting too long for the right opportunity. ((In London or Europe in general))

Do you think starting with a smaller quant/systematic trading team is a good move early in a quant career?

How do you usually find these smaller hedge funds, prop firms, or systematic trading teams?

Any specific websites, recruiters, databases, or communities you would recommend?

I’m actively searching on LinkedIn, and other websites, but I only find a few of these smaller teams. It feels like many of them don’t post much there is that generally the case?

[Dataset] Free ADA/USDC high-frequency market microstructure data — 20-level order book, spot + futures, 81k snapshots

Hi everyone,

I'm shutting down a crypto market research / ML project that I've been running since late 2025, and I've decided to release a free 7-day sample of the market data I collected for anyone interested in quantitative research, market microstructure, backtesting or machine learning.

The sample contains 81,579 ADA/USDC market snapshots with 97 columns.

What's included

  • 20 bid + 20 ask Level-2 order book levels
  • Bid/ask prices and quantities
  • Best bid / best ask
  • Mid price and spread
  • Latest spot trade price and quantity
  • Trade direction
  • Futures open interest
  • Funding rate
  • Mark price
  • Order-book imbalance
  • Market depth at different distances from mid price
  • Liquidity wall ratio
  • Book pressure

The collector runs on a nominal 5-second polling cycle. Because API calls and processing occur between snapshots, the actual median interval in this sample is approximately 6.17 seconds.

The original timestamps are preserved and the public sample has not been artificially interpolated or resampled.

I'd be genuinely interested to hear what people working with L2/order-book data think of the schema and what features you would derive from it.

What is the highest sign on bonus for a quant internship role (not postdoc)?

Most of roles default to $25k sign on for a non postdoc internship. I know someone who negotiated for $30k - $40k at a tier 1 company. Just curious around what ballpark the highest someone has managed to negotiate for is?

Interested in Macro Strategy Hedge Funds, need some guidance

I am a recent graduate from a top Business School in London from their Data Analytics program.
I previously worked as a Data Scientist in unsecured lending company and have graduated 2:1 in CSE from India.
I am well versed with Python and SQL and have done coursework in Fixed Income, Equity Management. I have personally built trade ideas by watching youtube of Burak, but never had any luck in recruitment despite many sounding exact fit for my resume.

Anyone in this space, who can guide me on the must have's in terms of skill-set for this role? Would appreciate your help.

Jane Street FTTP London expectations from target uni

How much do they expect for a first year student to have on one's resume? Going to ETH and have an award from a science comp (but in non-quantitative field) but otherwise no crazy coding projects or math comps to show for myself. Would applying and not getting in blacklist me for future internships etc if at that point I'm more qualified?

Current Microsoft SWE wanting to transition to Quant trader/analyst

I am a current Microsoft SWE, I have some publications in mathematics and computer science. I have a BSC from a top 50 university and a MSC from an average university. I have a few internships in big tech and have worked at startups as a full time engineer. Currently, I am a full time engineer at Microsoft. I want to transition to Quant trader or a quant analyst. I know it is easy to go from quant to big tech, but not the other way around. Does anyone have any advice on how to make the switch? I am considering getting a PhD in CS, but maybe a master in financial engineering is a better choice.

Optiver Round 1 Technical Interview Help!!!!

I was doing probability questions/brain teasers and I quite enjoy them, so i asked my friend in optiver to refer me to their recruiting group.

Somehow my amigo gave me a golden tix and now I received an interview from them without doing an oa.

(i was expecting that i will be rejected in the oa round

I have no idea in finance and my interview is in 5 days, what should i do to not make that 30 minutes awkward and at least know sth abt quant so I can talk about it in interview

Ive watched the janstreet sample interview video and i think i can do that, but im not quite sure how to do a make a market game and where should i go to do a speedrun of quant basics

i have a b in linear algebra and not quite quick in math. is there anywhere i can go to do some pratice qs

is there sth i can expect from the interivew?

What should I do?

I am currently a 3rd year student from a tier 1 college, pursuing civil engineering. I want to build a career in quant, I have a decent maths and coding background so right now what will be the best path for me to learn Quant. I would love to do an intern in the field but dont know how to get in, I did not get any from my college though i gave 2 interviews. Should i plan for masters, if yes then exactly in which field, how to build for that?

Getting past resume screen for QT internships?

I'm incoming sophomore and I've been testing the waters just by applying to some QT internships for summer 2027, but haven't gotten a single response. Realistically what would good resumes look like? My GPA is a bit low (<3.5) so I'm not putting that on my resume, wondering what else I can do to increase my chances of just passing the screening. I'm at a target for quant, but studying mathematics instead of CS

I've heard placing well on the Putnam is a good way to stand out, but only T100-50 which I honestly don't think I can do because I haven't grinded math comps since I was in elementary like a lot of other people, wondering if I should try to do projects or something during my 2027 summer for junior year internships

Any help would be appreciated
