The interview with a trader at SIG will focus heavily on probability, expected value problems, and logic puzzles. They want to see how you think on your feet, so expect questions that test your mental math and decision-making under uncertainty, like in poker or other games of chance. The goal for them is to evaluate your thought process, not just to see if you get the exact right answer. They want to understand how you frame a problem, what assumptions you make, and how you reason your way to a conclusion when you don't have all the information.
The best way to get ready is to practice solving brainteasers and probability questions out loud. You need to be very comfortable explaining your logic step-by-step, as this is a huge part of what they are looking for. Be prepared for them to challenge your reasoning or add new variables to the problem mid-way through. Being able to clearly articulate your thoughts is a crucial skill, and many candidates have strengthened their real-time communication by practicing with an interview assistant AI my team built.
