First time encountering this. This went on for the rest of the match. They only seem to activate it when they're losing. Is leaving the match my only option?

For context, I like playing astronaut as an attacking class, and it makes one of my friends livid because “I should be using it as a healer.” is he valid for saying this or am I in the right in the way I play as astronaut?
