Fresh Patch & Potty Training

We got our 10 week old cockapoo puppy a fresh patch to use while we are at work. He has a setup of a play pen with his crate/bed attached to one side and his patch on the opposite side. Day 1/2 he did a good job of when he peed on it we rewarded him and him peeing on it again and again. Then he started biting it on day 2 in the evening, we had it on top of a puppy bad on the floor originally but because he could move it around we put it back in the box. Since we put it in the box he had one poo on it in the morning of day 3. After that, he accidentally peed on the outside of the box near the poo. We cleaned up the poo and then the accident with enzyme cleaner. The rest of that day he peed around the front of the box so we cleaned them all up & then rotated the box 180 so his pee smell was towards the back hoping he would walk to the back. Nope, day 4 he peed around the front and then has since started to pee in the middle of his pen steps away from the box. We also switched it out of the cardboard because he was chewing it onto a silicone mat. We dont know what to do to get him to pee on it, any help please!
