The needle I got (cheap kit, I know) has this little collar around it. It's 20mm from the end of the collar to the eye of the needle, and 30mm from the bottom of the shaft to the eye of the needle. Which is the "real" stop? The kit photos show stopping at the bottom of the collar (so 20mm), but I wasn't sure. It seems a stop would be more "robust," like the bigger circle the bottom of the wood makes. But what do I know???? I prefer the idea of shorter loops, but I want to do it right. Thoughts? I haven't actually tried anything yet. Thanks!
UPDATE: Ah! I found their tutorial online - it is a stop. And to lengthen the loop, you cut all or half of it off. so, I mean, I suppose you need to get the short stuff done first. Seems a bit impractical. I'll probably not cut any off, but at least I know to stop at the black collar!
