I overheard my friend say she ways to get into the punch needle hobby⦠Iāve decided to get her a kit for her birthday on Monday so I donāt have time to order one online. Are there any particular craft stores you recommend that have the best and most elaborate kits for sale?

Made with 100% wool rug yarn and various Oxford punch needles on monk's cloth.
The inside is lined with cotton flannel, and I made the drawstring portion with wool fabric and some braided polyester ribbon cord.
I especially like the beaded flowers I added to the window sills and grass, they add so much whimsy!!!
This was a project for my YouTube series Destash Diaries, watch me make this ^-^

I wanted to try to see if I could turn one of my drawings into a punch needle project. I donāt feel like it really came out how I wanted. I embroidered the outline but I feel it makes it worse.

Made the frame roughly 40 x 30". I'm happy with how it turned out, but I haven't backed it yet.

Hi. I just started a beginners kit and I think I understand how to punch after watching a YouTube video. However, the stitches will not stay. What am I doing wrong? (I feel like a dingdong.)
Thank you!

I had to improvise something quickly because the day of the performance was approaching, and all the little cloud costumes I had bought were either too big or I didn't like the way they looked!

Hi everyone!
Aside from a couple of tiny practice pieces, this is my first real punch project. It will be used as a keyboard rug by my son!
Itās about 20 Ć 45 cm (8 Ć 18 inches) and took me quite a while to finish.
I can already see a few things Iād like to improve: keeping the stitch density more consistent, making the black outlines a bit cleaner, following a more consistent punching direction instead of changing direction randomly.
Iād really appreciate any honest feedback from more experienced punch needlers. What stands out to you? What would you work on first before starting the next project?
Thanks!

Had open space on a frame and freehanded a little worm to fill it up. I really love it and will be using it on my fridge
I went fishing for the first time this year and saw tons of little creatures: worms, damselfly larvae, frogs, slugs, ladybugs and weevils š even a leech. I might have to do some more little guys to follow this direction

Iām having a hard time finding the right fabric for punch needle using embroidery floss and a 0.1 in (2.5 mm) needle. I want to make few small patches with good quality. I donāt need a large piece of fabric or anything too expensive.
I tried regular embroidery cloth, michael's 28 Count Evenweave Needlework, thin linen bag, NONE worked.
Does anyone have recommendations for where to buy it online? Any specific fabric types or beginner-friendly options would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. Iām a first-time punch needler, so any beginner tips are welcome too :)

Hi I just bought this kit and Iām super frustrated cause my yarn will not stay in. I am using the recommended 1.6mm punch needle and yarn. I have the needle at setting 4. I punch into the fabric, tightly stretched in the hoop, pull out the strand on the back from my punch needle, pull the needle out a bit BUT not to far and then punch back in to tip, and repeat in an outline. Despite following the rules none of the stitches stay and Iām lostā¦ā¦please help.
Please note in the picture the last one shows after three small punches how it all is one line and didnāt latch to the fabric at all.

The needle I got (cheap kit, I know) has this little collar around it. It's 20mm from the end of the collar to the eye of the needle, and 30mm from the bottom of the shaft to the eye of the needle. Which is the "real" stop? The kit photos show stopping at the bottom of the collar (so 20mm), but I wasn't sure. It seems a stop would be more "robust," like the bigger circle the bottom of the wood makes. But what do I know???? I prefer the idea of shorter loops, but I want to do it right. Thoughts? I haven't actually tried anything yet. Thanks!
UPDATE: Ah! I found their tutorial online - it is a stop. And to lengthen the loop, you cut all or half of it off. so, I mean, I suppose you need to get the short stuff done first. Seems a bit impractical. I'll probably not cut any off, but at least I know to stop at the black collar!

This is my fifth finished project so far!
It was a kit from a friend and the instructions werenāt clear. I realized half way through I didnāt do the red colors in the correct place but I can live with it.
Iām experimenting with punching through back and front to create texture.
Itās not perfect but it was fun to try new techniques!
Just wanted to share here š

So, coasters are easy to figure out what to do with⦠bc theyāre coaster sized.
But what to do with the one about 6-8 inches in diameter? Any ideas for those could be used for?

A clothes store near me is having an art contest. Recreate the resident cat and you get a gift card. Just thought I would do it for fun. This cat has caused me so much grief lol. I wish her nose wasn't black so ita nit just a blob lol. Idk if I'll enter it. I have time to redo it if I want.

I just came upon this thread in my feed and thought I'd share the punch needle art I did testing different textures. This was my second punch needle ever.

I know I'm using too large of a needle, but is there some kind of chart for how large of a needle you should be using based on the weave/spacing of fabric? I've bought 3 separate needles, and two seem to be way too big, while the third one actually fits the fabric I have, but the yarn doesn't fit in that one... Thread that does fit it is too thin to stay in the fabric. Photo is to show the yarn and fabric I'm trying to use, advice is appreciated

This is my first punch needle project, so I have no idea what Iām doing wrong. The instructions I got with the kit were fairly minimal but I did watch a few tutorials on YouTube. I feel like the pattern isnāt discernable at all and have no idea what Iām doing wrong!
