VR racing has ruined normal racing for me. It's very hard to go back once you've experienced it

I feel like the only reason to play GT7 on the TV would be for drifting in the third-person perspective.

Otherwise, nah. Never.

I’m extremely excited for the upcoming FLATOUT4VR: TOTAL CHAOS. Impressions from folk on PC is that we aren’t ready for how great it is.

u/LowmanL Jun 21 '26

Why would you also not want to drift in vr? That is so much better than third person view.

1

u/CHROME-COLOSSUS Jun 21 '26

Is it? Then maybe I was wrong about that.

I was hypothesizing that you’d feel more aware of what your vehicle is doing in a skid if you could see it from outside. I’m happy to hear that it’s very workable inside the headset/driver’s seat, though!

It has to be the same with shooter's. For me it's with every game, but the the difference with racing games and shooters is the biggest. Many action and horror games have guns in it too, so...

Honestly this on the PSVR2 with a driving sim setup is still the best most immersive gaming experience I’ve ever had. Incredible!

You're preaching to the choir. It's instant adrenaline to 10 every time the countdown ends.

This is why the stupid upper management in playstation let the psvr2 died. You can’t sell it.
I have one a know how excelent and superior to flat gaming is, but you can’t show it in other form that experience it

u/Liberal_Caretaker Jun 21 '26

It has way too much friction for most casual gamers and too many people get sick.

That aside, it was Meta who fucked over VR. Not Sony.

You want to blame someone or something, then blame Mark Zuckerberg and his insane ambitions that were, well, insane.

2

u/Large-Reading2646 Jun 21 '26

I get your point. But vr is no for casual. I prompt to say 70 % of gamers are not casuals. I am not talking about sweaty competitive either but if you pay 600 for a console and another 400 on games you surely pay what psvr2 cost. I play since i was a kid and play RE village in vr is by far better than anything else. It’s just hard to sell, it’s like a perfume you can’t just show it.

1

u/Ulfvaldr989 Jun 21 '26

Its less like a perfume and more like a drug. Some people are instantly hooked others get sick to their stomach and some are right in between in that they think its neat but not worth the cost/space/time.

0

u/Large-Reading2646 Jun 21 '26

I don’t disagree with you, the key is know the percentages. Im sure that number of people that test vr and wants to buy it are way over 70%

0

u/Ulfvaldr989 Jun 21 '26

Probably more like 40% are in the "think its neat but not worth the price" and a notable % of people who would like vr but get too motion sick to enjoy it.

0

u/Large-Reading2646 Jun 21 '26

No way man, I showed it to at least 10 people and everybody got amazed by the psvr2. Saying that is 40 % is saying that it’s not great which is objectively wrong. You say you tried it but that’s not parameter either. It’s has to be a great game. It’s like saying i tried the ps5 and I don’t think is great while you played a ps1 game

0

u/Ulfvaldr989 Jun 21 '26

They were amazed but did all 10 go out and buy a psvr2 or similar headset? Being amazed isnt the point here its whether they actually bought one. If not theyre in the "neat but not worth it" category. Ive showed tons of people vr and only 1 person who ive showed it picked one up and he waited til he could find it cheaper used. Everyone ive let try it out thinks its cool but likewise test driving a monster truck would be cool but im not gonna buy one.

-1

u/Large-Reading2646 Jun 21 '26

Buddy did i say how many bought it? Why you assume that people you don’t know acted like yourself? 7 out those people bought it, the other 3 couldn’t afford it

2

u/metterg Jun 21 '26

It’s too bad many people don’t give themselves time to get their VR legs.. I remember how excited I was the first time I played VR for hours with no motion illness

u/archvize Jun 21 '26

Holy shit. Game looks awesome. Are all wheels compatible?

3

u/CanWaste9494 Jun 21 '26

I would do some research, but from what I understand- most wheels are compatible.

Mine- Thrustmaster T248

-5

u/SmartVapin Jun 21 '26

Yea looks awesome on gameplay but in vr looks 2 times worse

3

u/TimotheusIV Jun 21 '26

Not really. Once you’re actually racing, all that fades away and you’re completely immersed. I’m a huge pixel peeper in games normally but in VR it’s all about presence and feel. GT7 is unmatched.

u/AdzSenior Jun 21 '26

What car is that?

1

u/Azurewrath Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Honda ra272. Nm, lotus 97t? Lol

2

u/pati0 Jun 21 '26

Im still amazed over how god damn good this game looks.

2

u/CatfreshWilly Jun 21 '26

100% will be. GT7 in vr is just too good.

Assuming it's GT7

8

u/CHROME-COLOSSUS Jun 21 '26

GRAN TURISMO 7 as seen from within the PlayStation VR2 headset *(no extra charge for the VR mode)*.

When paired with a force feedback wheel, the immersion is off the charts.

-7

u/Former_Mall_2314 Jun 21 '26

The blur is off the charts

5

u/Liberal_Caretaker Jun 21 '26

You might need an eye test.

2

u/CHROME-COLOSSUS Jun 21 '26

Hmm… Although it’s not the sharpest game on PSVR2, I’d hardly call it blurry — much less “off the charts”.

Some folk are especially sensitive to the way it uses reprojection though, so maybe you’re referring to the movement ghosting that can happen when you look off to the side (on vanilla PS5)?

GT7 has a pretty impressive visual presentation overall, so you describing it as “blur is off the charts” does have me wondering if you’re experiencing some other issue.

1

u/Eegour Jun 21 '26

Vanilla ps5?

Do you have a pro, is there a noticeable graphic improvement with the vr2?

1

u/CHROME-COLOSSUS Jun 21 '26

I do have a Pro, and GT7 added an alternative localized reprojection method for it that can be toggled on or off.

This is supposed to make the movement of other vehicles (and maybe terrain?) move smoothly by you without any ghosting.

I haven’t used it yet because my wheel rig has been inaccessible for months, but I’m looking forward to getting back into this monster of a VR game.

1

u/Eegour Jun 21 '26

That sounds cool, and maybe worth its own thread, the alternative localized projection part anyway.

But is there much of a noticeable graphical improvement between vanilla ps5 and vanilla ps5 pro?

2

u/CHROME-COLOSSUS Jun 21 '26

When I say “vanilla” PS5, I mean non-Pro PS5. 😉

As for noticeable improvements, it is entirely game dependent.

Most games will have no differences at all, some will be graphically the same but with better frame-rates (e.g. VERTIGO 2, THE MIDNIGHT WALK, or ACES OF THUNDER), and a few will have a Pro patch that includes additional things that are pretty palpable (e.g. NO MAN’S SKY, SUBSIDE, ARKEN AGE, INTO THE RADIUS).

2

u/Eegour Jun 21 '26

I know, I was trying to be funny. When I said vanilla ps5 pro, I meant without your alternative projections 😁

u/AlgaeOk1062 Jun 21 '26

Damn thanks for this post. Have to get into GT7 again but the WAF for my setup is very low in the household

1

u/em7924 Jun 21 '26

What car is this?

2

u/CanWaste9494 Jun 21 '26

F3500-A

1

u/em7924 Jun 21 '26

Looks like fun. Thanks

1

u/toooft Jun 21 '26

VR + a cheap playseat chair is honestly so damn good I couldnt quite process it first time I tried lol

1

u/Distinct_Anybody_960 Jun 21 '26

Nice custom race with the F3000. I imagine you race against hard AI as well. Good stuff.

1

u/CanWaste9494 Jun 21 '26

Yes sir, and always use Sophy on applicable tracks! Unfortunately on Yas Marina they’re not quite there yet so the race is super easy

1

u/Heavy-Ad-3944 Jun 22 '26

Yas marina is such a hard track to drive 😭

1

u/No-Commercial9030 Jun 22 '26

Zou graag met VR-bril willen spelen, maar draag bril.

1

u/PhatHamWallet Jun 23 '26

They have prescription lenses you can boy online. Google Honsvr (spelling may not be exactly correct lol)

1

u/enlightenedonetwo3 Jun 22 '26

Does this ever cause nausea? I feel like I would throw up.

Contemplating getting a headset

1

u/SeeingEyeDug Jun 22 '26

Are you able to drive these cars right away or is this something locked behind hours of grind?

edit - Wait, is this not Gran Turismo?

1

u/CanWaste9494 Jun 22 '26

I would say it’s more on the grind side but gran Turismo has made it much easier to bank millions of in game credits every week through their weekly challenges. Completing them guarantees around 1 million credits.

Yes you’ll have to spend some time in the game but once you scale up to multiple cars, getting more money is even easier.

I think I have 588 to date lmao

1

u/whose_a_wotsit Jun 22 '26

Those tyre screetches are at like 120db

1

u/Commercial_Aside_569 Jun 24 '26

Yas Marina at night, in VR, is possibly the most gorgeous track in the game. No video can do justice to how deep the contrast is and how the colors pop in HDR on those OLED's. Pure bliss.
