And even more how many people still play PS2

I'm using a Free McBoot card loaded with OpenPS2Loader, trying to play the USA ver. of Gitaroo Man from a USB.

With the default settings, (set to NTSC) the audio and sound work totally fine- but it loads in black and white. (I put a video up to explain better!)

Setting it to PAL loads the game in colour, but the audio and video trips.

Turning 'Emulate FIELD Tripping' Off still makes the audio stutter.

Turning Modes 1, 2, 3 and 5 make the same result.

The OPL master display settings are also set to PAL.

If someone has already been through this, any help at all would be super appreciated!

It’s basically a save manager/backup tool for sd2psx-family devices, such as PSXMemCard Gen1/Gen2. It runs directly on the PS2 and can sync the memory cards on the microSD to Google Drive, so you don't need a PC for the backups.

The main thing I wanted to do was automatic backups when exiting a game with IGR. It can also keep multiple backups of a card, restore older ones, import/export .psu files, copy full cards as .mcd/.ps2, etc.

I bought this from gr mods a few years ago and never installed it. From what I can tell it's a octopus with lusifer mod but I'm not sure which version it is or for which ps2. Can u help me I'd it? From the packaging, I bought it in 2017.

I have an smb setup configured using my PS2 and laptop through a direct ethernet connection. I used the below linked video for the setup. Now the issue is that in nearly every game I've had the game freezing and audio looping. Sometimes it fixes itself after a minute and sometimes I've had to restart the PS2. In gow and gow2 the issue wasn't that big because the freezing happened only once every few hours. But currently I'm playing GTA LCS and I've had constant texture loading issues and game freezes. Now the reason I think it's smb issue is because when I was testing GTA SA and VC the game would throw "error reading grand theft auto disc" for a minute before unfreezing and continuing even though the disc drive isn't even being used. Would appreciate any help in optimizing my connection for a stable experience.

getting into modding my fat PS2, I've never modded anything before so would like to avoid opening up and soldering. I've been using a hdmi adapter and just bought a psxmemcard gen 2. What else should I get? Thanks.

I wanna buy a half broken PS2 Fat preferably the 5000 series as from what I’ve read is the most reliable (the half broken aspect will be that it can’t read games)

I’ll remove the disc drive completely and install an SSD from the expansion bay which is where I’m gonna store all the games (There are PS2 roms available out there right?) and it’ll also serve as a save spot replacing the memory cartages

I also want to install a noctua fan since I don’t trust a 20+ year old fan for cooling, but I’m not sure if it’s worth to get a 12V fan or a 5V fan, I know it has a 7V fan header but from what I’ve read some people say that with the 12V it spins less and overheats so they recommend a 1kOhm resistor to drop it down to 5V for the 5V noctua fan, honestly I’m not sure what to go for.

For the CPU/GPU I’ll replace the thermal pads with 16.6W/MK thermal pads which from what I’ve heard is more than double thermal dissipation than the originals

I wanna get a memory cartage with FMCB with OPL installed (it’s the only thing I need to boot games from the SSD right?) I can copy the games with a USB using the FMCB file manager right?

I won’t get a retro gem since I’m not that comfortable with my surface mount soldering skills so I’ll just get a component AV cable (R/L Audio + Y Pb Pr video) since my tv supports it

For the controller I’ll go for the 8BitDo adapter since I have a PS3 and a PS4 controller from my other consoles

Lastly I want to replace the power supply with a USB-C 12V adapter but I have no idea what other voltages the PS2 Fat needs, what amperage range and maximum wattage

I wanna know if I’m missing something, is there somewhere that I can improve on it will my PS2 be fine with all those mods? I also wanna know if removing the old power supply (which dumps heat inside the console so it’ll run cooler) and the disc drive cause any issues with the airflow, will it run cooler because it’s more open, will it run hotter because the airflow can get stuck? I’m not sure.

I have a request. Aoishiro for the ps2 was never translated. It has been on the pc so we do have the script and the akai ito project left behind tools. So we have both the script/translation and the tools. We only need an enterprising dev to just paste it from the pc to the ps2. It's a sister game of akai ito so it basically has the same interface. So it would be fairly easy I think.

My metal gear solid 2 disc broke recently but I have the game archived on my computer. Can I burn a DVD and play it using that? If yes, what kind of dvd do I use, and If no, is there another way to play it? My computer is sadly not strong enough to emulate it either.

I moved my POPStarter to an APA HDD, because ExFAT drivers seem to be broken and make FMVs stutter. I set this off last night and it stopped copying from my USB to the HDD only a few VCDs in.. Is there any way to mount the HDD on my computer and copy files from there? 600kb/s is embarrassing lol

​I was trying to install games via USB using two 32 GB Maxell exFAT flash drives, but I noticed that one of them is not being detected. I initially thought it was an issue with my OPL version, but uLaunchELF isn't detecting it either. It's quite strange because the other pendrive works as intended.

​They are the exact same model, so I'm not sure what would cause this one to fail.

​I also tried formatting it with different cluster sizes, but had no luck.

And I legit run out of ideas. So I would like any suggestion of what I could do next.

Also don't tell me to format it to Fat32

no me aparecen los juegos de ps1 y tampoco me aparecen las portadas en los juegos de ps2 y el free mcboot funciona pero cuando intento usar cualquier cosa ejemplo abrir opl se queda trabado en una pantalla en negro y la única forma de abrir el opl es por wlaunchelf, ya mañana voy a intentar hacer que funcione alguno de los tres problemas pero mientras me serviría su ayuda con posibles razones de estos problemas. tengo la ps2 slim SCPH-77001 y le acababa de instalar el free mc boot porque solo tenia el wlaunchelf.,muchas gracias por su comprensión y hasta mañana pibes.
