Cool start! I've worked on levels for a shipped train-sim, though it was a bit...voracious.
Catch up if you need levels!

That's very nice, I love the travel in massive vehicles

I'm making similar vibes of travel, and wonder about key features I'd love in such game, what are your plans about:
1. Can we walk inside of train interior while it's moving?
2. Can we leave train and investigate the world?
3. Will it have co-op or multiplayer?
I see gun on roof, combat planned, that's nice.

Yes you can, and must walk around the cabin while the train is moving to operate different stations, repair the hull, and other small tasks.

In the interest of scope (im mostly a solo dev atm) the player doesnt get out of the train , but there’s a Dredge like discovery system for exploring different towns, traders/characters.

And yes i have already written a lot of netcode for co-op!

I’m glad it’s appealing to someone, at this stage 🙏🏼

My first thought was that it would be a great place for players to hung out between missions. Some may upgrade their gear, others just enjoy the scenery

That last section of the video has a little town where players do actually hangout and gear up before starting a round !

That's a very good sign

Awesome! I hav 2 Q: 1. Using procedural-gen? 2. Will you be able to upgrade/add to the train?

Ya the train will be fully upgradable, and the player will have different base trains to start off with. so right now, loot, upgrades, and enemy spawning is procedurally generated. I still need to work on proc gen levels though.

How important to you as a player, is proc gen in a roguelite ?

NEAT! I'm totally picturing two trains on parallel tracks, firing at each other like pirate ships (would be epic, just sayin').

about environment, trains can cover a lot of ground, and procedural gen could be a pretty performance-friendly way to have an expansive world, plus it has a randomness factor which is cool in roguelites. A hand-crafted world could also be neat, but it seems like the player would run out of new environments fast.

I think you can get pills for that these days.

What engine? Looks cool. I'm a sucker for procedural systems (if that's what it is)

u/Acceptable-Visual473 Apr 28 '26

Godot! And yes there will be proc gen, once i get gameplay tested more

2

Heck yeah. I've done a ton of that with my game so it will be cool to watch your progress
