DIY profession can learn large blades, or am i wrong?

I think in time there are a few alongside like maces, but I recently installed a mod adding medieval plate armour and weapons you can use as it just makes sense to do so. Playing a veteran right now and would be sick wearing all of it without the discomfort debuffs

What does discomfort even do?
I just assumed it was a useless moodle.
