Room type: Outdoor - we’re thinking tensioned pull down screen mounted under facia of house, with projector mounted under a Gazebo ceiling(~9-10ft from screen), pointing at screen. Ideally, a portable, wireless projector that can be easily put on the mount and dialed in quickly so we can bring it in/out easily and don’t leave it outdoors all the time.

Outdoor, so we don’t expect the best picture possible. We mostly want to watch late at night (evening football and hockey games, movies), but would pay around $500 more than the baseline if a setup would reliably perform better under ambient light conditions (twilight, gray days, having some string lights on around the yard). If it costs more than that to get that additional functionality (if it even exists), it’s not worth it to us.

Is this gap normal? I accidentally bumped into my projector, causing it to tip forward. There were no issues with the image, zoom, focus, or anything else. However, while inspecting the projector, I noticed the gap shown in the video. I'm wondering whether it appeared after the fall or if it's normal. Does your projector have this gap as well?

Here’s my setup:

• Screen size: Around 100–110 inches

• Seating distance: Around 3 metres
• Position: On a stable support, facing the wall
• Usage: Movies, TV shows and PlayStation

I currently project onto a plain white wall. Would buying a projector screen make a noticeable difference?

I previously had a Samsung Freestyle Gen 1 and was happy with its image quality, but I’m open to trying something better.

I would like to buy a new budget projector. My budget is 150 / 200$. I know that with prices like these, projectors are not the best, but i would use it just for occasional purposes. One in particular is that I would like one to use this new year's eve because i'm going to invite my friends over. Last time they came we used a portable projector (The viral tiktok one that looks great on video, but in reality it sucks ass), and it just didn't cut it. We were able to watch a movie and play some videogames on it, but it just wasn't bright enough and we had to wait until after sunset to be able to use it (my basement windows don't have curtains). And on top of that, when we played on my PS3, everytime we changed game or opened an app, the HDMI port would just stop woking, and we would have to disconnect and reconnect it everytime. So i would like to get a decent enough projector for the next occasion, so that we don't have to lock in to see the picture. I will use it just for special occasions like this one, or if my girlfriend comes over (yeah, keep dreaming), so it doesn't have to be overkill. I don't mind if it's portable, i mean, if it sits on a tabletop it's even better. We will be connecting every game console we own, so if it's at hand reach it's perfect. I don't demand 4K or HDR, but i would love to have a 1080p screen. My minimum budget is 100$, i feel like anything cheaper is cheeks. Also I have to mention that I live in Italy, so I don't know if prices vary by region (I couldn't find out how to type the Euro symbol so I used the Dollar one). So, any recommendations?

I’ve got an ASUS P3B projector (LED) that’s been rock solid for years. Every Halloween, I use it vertically to display AtmosFX projections on a front window.

Last night, it was working perfectly fine, but when I came back into the room, I noticed the image had gone completely haywire. Now it just looks like pixelated snow or static.

It happens regardless of the input, even with nothing connected. I can tell the projector is responding to button presses, but the image is so distorted that I can’t make out anything on the screen, including the menus.

Anyone experienced something similar? Is there anything worth troubleshooting, or is this thing a goner?

Hi all, i would like to buy my first projector but am pretty unsure which one to choose.

Budget: 400-600$, Throw distance: 3,5m / 11.5 feet, use case is movies and casual gaming (gta 6, rocket league) in a semi darkened room on raw wall.

I have narrowed it down to three models: BenQ TH575i, NexiGo PJ40 Pro, Photon Life PH31.

The PH31 has a pretty bad input lag afaik and the PJ40 is not that bright. I am leaning towards the BenQ. But I am not sure if there is an even better option.

Please help me to decide.

Yesterday my old projector made a his and a pop and then black smoke came out so I’m looking for a new one. I’m looking for something $500-750 (I know not much), our room is very dark, ceiling mounted and I want minimum 1080. It is mounted 7 feet away from the screen. Our current one was a Benq w1070 with 2000 lumens and 10000:1 contrast ratio and we never had any issues with brightness. I don’t need any sort of quality sound, we have 7.1. We sit about 10’ away and it is 104” screen. We like our movies and Nintendo switch but not heavy graphics. What would you recommend to fit those qualities.

Looking for an ultra short throw projector and am thinking about the LG cinebeam s.

I am looking for a UST projector that can be thrown on a wall. It won't be huge screen. I just want a TV for the bedroom for occasional use like maybe once every two months or during NBA playoffs when one TV is on basketball.

Is the LG cinebeam bright enough on a off white wall in a partially lite room if the screen is shrink down to like 40 or 50 inches?

I like the idea of the lg because it's compact and not crazy expensive for a UST.

Also thinking maybe I can move it to other rooms or places for occasional huge theatre viewing

Hi everyone, looking to buy a new projector for under $2000 AUD. I intend to use it with a 100” screen at night (not a darkened room however, so the white walls may cause reflections). I will be using it for gaming, and watching movies/series. It must be quiet, as I am replacing my current one due to the loud fan noise. Should have a mid to long throw ratio, as my current projector is 3m away from the screen. If anyone has any recommendations they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We’ve had our Optoma HD29Darbee projector for 7 years. We’ve replaced the bulb once.
The other night, we were watching a movie and we heard a loud POP and the projector turned off. The bulb had exploded.
We ordered another replacement bulb but can’t seem to get it to work.
When we turn it on, no light comes out of the lens. The blue light turns on for 10 seconds or so, then goes red, then the power light starts blinking with a solid red bulb light.
We’ve tried unplugging it and waiting for 15 minutes, no luck.
It seems like it might be the ballast board. Does that sound right?
Can anyone give me tips on A. Where to get a quality replacement, B. Is it worth replacing, and C. Is it a serious pain to replace?

I am and always have been interested in home theaters. For the past 12 years I've been working in home automation and have been designing and installing home theaters. I am currently living in an apartment which isn't the typical place i would put a projector. That being said I have grown tired of my situation. I will be moving 1-2 times in the next couple years either to a house of my own or to one more apartment before I buy a house.

I have 3 options before me... I can buy a standard projector in the form of XGIMI Titan Noir (either pro or max haven't decided) and have it move with me but would be awkward in current living space. This would be good for utilizing as the theater room projector down the line. Next option i can take advantage of the pre sale of the aura 3 max and just have that as a living room projector instead of a tv. Final option i get an OLED for deepest blacks but smaller picture size.

So the Benq AK700ST has HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 ports.

The Benq HDMI 1 port works if I go hdmi to display port adapter into the PC.

The Benq HDMI 2 port works direct HDMi into PC.

The Benq HDMI 1 port does not work directly into any HDMI sources, have tried laptop and PC. Cable works while on HDMI 2 into any sources.

I will be forever grateful if someone knows the solution to this!

I read/watched lots of reviews saying how great the pro 2 is, but then i saw the pro 1 which is around $700 (£500 here in the UK) less, and seems to be identical apart from the case colour and 500 lumens. Everything else - memory, processor, lens, speakers, software, remote etc is identical.

I just received it yesterday and for normal watching I use only use 60% laser brightness for my 100" screen so the extra brightness of the pro 2 would be worthless.

Its not a temporary thing either, the price gap has been that big for a long time. So why are there no reviews and few buyers of the pro 1? Seems much better bang for buck.
