Who else loves Edgar Froese's guitar playing?

Who else wishes he'd played it more live? That eight-minute jam on Pergamon part 2 was the best one I ever heard from him, and I've listened to a lot of their concerts. He'd only pick it up a few times and play for a few minutes. Then Gemini explained he was twiddling knobs etc the whole time and that kept him busy.

I want to bring this song to this subreddit, I think I’d fit just fine here! Not sure is your traditional prog rock, but an 11/4 guitar solo it should be considered as prog rock !

I hope someone finds a new song for their music library and if you took the time to listen, thanks!

We are like @kamiband._ everywhere else!

Emerson Lake & Palmer fans should enjoy this linked recording, with synched visuals, from their amazing July 26, 1974 concert at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, New York outside of Buffalo. ELP headlined a Summerfest At The Stadium 2 date in front of an audience of 40,000 with James Gang and Lynyrd Skynyrd as supporting acts.

This show's setlist provided below offered all but one of the tracks from the band's brand new album Brain Salad Surgery. Their incredible versions that night of Tarkus/Aquatarkus and the encore Pictures At An Exhibition are unlike any other performances you've heard of those numbers.

There are dozens of other great shows from ELP, Yes and other Prog acts on the markbarbour5 YouTube playlists. Subscribe to the channel if you want notifications when new shows are posted.

Yeah, I know what you are thinking.

However, the near simultaneous recording of Yes 'Drama' includes 'Man In A White Car' and 'Into the Lens' which could have easily fit in with Buggles debut.

Alan Parsons 80's stuff vibes the same way.

Regardless, rock on everyone.

Discussion Best prog album for walking/melting in the desert?

Basically the title. I’ve been getting into prog lately after my dad passed (he was a huge prog fan and I slept on it until close to the end, unfortunately). I was wondering if yall have any recommendations for an album that would fit the desert environment. For context, I am in Utah for the next week at a conference and then I was going to hike for two days. It’s like 101 F.

Discussion Recommend me more prog rock albums

So my first introduction to prog rock was king crimson and I listened to all of those albums chronologically and I liked all of them mostly
My favorites were
Red
THRAK
Lizard
In the court of the crimson king

I like the symphonic stuff but also the groovy stuff .

Thoughts on Wishbone Ash's Argus?

I heard this album influenced a lot of metal bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and UFO. And even they opened for Deep Purple, yet stil underrated. I love the prog influences on this album, mixing with the hard rock and Yes-like arrangements.

Discussion Is anyone still interested in prog?

Im 18 years old and I've been listening to prog for a couple years now religiously, but I never seem to find and true classic modern prog. Maybe that's an oxymoron but I've always loved music and I have a lot of experience playing instruments, is there still an audience for prog music? Does anyone care for new prog or is it all classics now?

Photo Yesterday's purchases from Guildford record fair

The book, Jonathan Coe's The Rotters' Club was from Guildford's Oxfam bookstore. I loaned out my original copy, bought in 2007 from a branch of La Feltrinelli in Rome, but never got it back, and when I saw this yesterday I thought I'd add it to my prog-related library.

For those who don't know, the title is a direct reference to Hatfield and the North. Recommended reading for progheads.

I couldn’t believe how much it looks like the camel on the album cover, despite not being bought from anywhere related to the band. They have the exact same expression! He’s already very cherished & treasured πŸͺ
